In this Tudors documentary from History Calling video (the fifth in my Tudor monarchs’ series), we return to the King directly after the execution of Anne Boleyn and follow him through his remaining marriages, plus upheavals including the Pilgrimage of Grace in 1536, his last invasion in France and inevitably, his death.

EXTRA INFORMATION: The video will cover the final four of the six wives of Henry VIII, Henry VIII’s quest for an heir as it reached its conclusion with the birth of Edward VI and the death of Jane Seymour in 1537. It will look at his attempts to find a new bride (including his famous rejection by Duchess Christina of Milan), his short marriage to the so called Flander’s Mare, Anne of Cleves in 1540, his affair with and marriage to Katherine Howard, the fall of Thomas Cromwell, the Tudor scandal which brought about the execution of Queen Katherine Howard in 1542 and his marriage in 1543 to Catherine Parr, aka the Queen who survived Henry VIII. We’ll hear about the King’s failing health, Henry VIII’s relationship with Mary I and the childhood of Elizabeth I and her relationship with her father. You’ll also hear what happened to Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk and what happened to Henry VIII’s son, Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond. Finally, we’ll see how the story of Henry VIII ends, having gone from a perfect prince to a murderous monster.
