  • After leaving Nelspoort we hit the road to Murraysburg. This small town is at the foot of the Sneeuberg mountains and has the Buffalo River on the other side. What a pretty place! Driving through the streets revealed some beautiful homes and the church was absolutely amazing. Then it was time to move on and find our accommodation which was on a farm a few kilometres outside of town on the road to Graaff-Reinet. What a beautiful farmstay we had at Salem Rus. We stayed in a small stone cottage just above the river with a stunning view. It was freezing outside but the cottage was so cozy and we had a wonderful evening. The next morning we headed for our next destination. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #murraysburg #sneeuberg #mountains

    Thank you for a great armchair tour. Your videos just seem to be getting better every episode. Those lamp posts in the middle of the street won't last long if big trucks use these roads. As for the church - so unique. Love your work.

      Thank you so much, I appreciate that! 😊 As far as we could tell, there are no trucks that go through the town on a regular basis, so I hope those lamp posts will be safe for many more years to come.

      Thank you! We loved our little place on the farm. 😍 It was a cold night, but we were very cozy inside, despite two separate power outages because of loadshedding. I was finally able to fly the drone because the wind was manageable. It is truly a fantastic area and I was happy to capture a small section of it from the air.

      Moorreesburg / Murraysburg. Very close together, I never even thought about that. We also only learnt about Murraysburg a few months ago, so I can relate. Those impressive church buildings are the pride of the Platteland towns - worth viewing building craftsmanship from close up as well as viewing the inside. The church offices on the premises are normally open in the morning till 13.00hr.

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      We agree. 👌 Perhaps you've missed the many churches we've stopped at, walked around and even filmed the interiors of. It's not possible in every town though and very often the time we arrive in a town, church offices aren't open. You're welcome to watch Episode 144 of the church in Merweville and Episode 184 where we admire the crafstmanship of the church in Steynsburg. To name only two. The architecture of these churches is the main reason we always gravitate towards them to begin with. 😁⛪

    Thank you for the wonderful videos - it makes me want to jump on my bike and ride .
    I see you love churches because most of your videos the first place you stop is a church, brilliant. Just a little fact about donkey's - every donkey has a cross on its back this proves Jesus rode on a donkey. Check it out next time you see a donkey or two, the hair on its back and down each front leg is a slightly different colour to the rest of the hair .

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We actually have no specific attachment to church buildings, but they're all so gorgeous in these small towns that we can't help but gravitate to them immediately upon entering the towns. The steeples call our names from a distance already as we approach. 💒😁 We've noticed that cross on the donkeys before and knew from a little bit of research that they all have it. Thank you for the info! They very quickly became one of our favourite animals, we love seeing them as we travel! 😍🐴 It's time that you jump on that bike again! 😝🏍️

    Just got a glimpse of Kay's Cafe which has some interesting stories of its own. Always used to stop there for some refreshment, especially when kids were small, passing through from Graaff Reinet to Victoria west. Always seemed to have time in those days

I've been using it for the last four trips and it has been very well received. It provides a clear distinction between previous and current episode. 🎬

      Thank you so much, we appreciate your kind comment! 😊 We actually prefer doing minimal research so that we can explore a new town and area with fresh eyes. 🤩 When we plan our routes, we Google a little bit just to form an idea of what a town or area is about. We have no intentions of writing any books, we're way too lazy for that! We're happy to document our travels on video for everyone who is interested to enjoy! 🚗

    the buffalo river u spoke about is that the same buffalo river that runs out at east london ?

    • @DustBugsTravel

      I don't believe so, no. The Buffalo River near Murraysburg is a subsidiary of the Groot River which eventually flows out into the Gourits River. The Buffalo River near East London is another river with the same name. 🐃
