- The V60 has been a Volvo trademark of the ultimate wagon. The Polestar engineered model takes things to the next level. On the outside you will discover unique unique lightweight wheels, 6-piston performance brakes and Panoramic glass roof. On the inside you will be greeted to a clean well designed interior. Under the hood is a 2.0L electric supercharged and turbocharged inline-4 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is 2024 Volvo V60 Polestar a BETTER luxury performance car than a AMG E 63?

Sold my C63 and own an XC90. Different cars. Looked into getting an E63 but they really made the interior feel like a UFO brothel with all those rainbow lights and weird designs. Love this V60P 🇸🇪
I think this is the ultimate 1 car garage right here. I want this vehicle so badly.
You are so very right about that Jared!
For the price, this is really good! A sleeper dad wagon for enthusiasts! The AMG E63 is a different class altogether. This Volvo is really the only car like this on the market (in the US) and I am HERE FOR IT.
I always wanted the E63 or RS6 but settled on this and picked up my 2024 v60 PE last month. So far, it's been great. I like the versatility of being able to open it up in Polestar mode or use it to drop kids off at school on the pure electric. Only downside is I wish there were a few more buttons, especially drivemode rather than going trhough the touchscreen
How long does the high performance battery last when driving long distances, say like 150 miles. Does it run out? What happens when it does, do you run on ICE till it charges a little bit or how does that work, i have no clue and i can't find it out in the google machine.
@@Hoooooooar The battery does run out on longer trips. When that occurs, like you said it switches to the ICE until you charge again. It's seemless so you don't have to do anything when the battery is getting low. The gas tank is still 60liters so basically a regular car size. I find the hybrid or electric mode is great for city driving as the range is more than my daily commute.
@@Hoooooooar it always keep some charge left so it always stays AWD
Is she fun? And the sound system? I’m between this and an e450wagon. E63 hard to justify in Michigan weather
I f***** love wagons. This V60 looks amazing 😍
I am right there with you!
You asked your viewers whether they prefer this $72 grand Polestar or the $120 grand AMG. Look , I am sure most prefer the AMG although I am a Volvo fan as it saved my wife's life 19 years ago when she crashed the S40 Volvo.. The question should have been if money is no object or which represents the better value for money. Remember Warren Buffet (net worth $120 billions or thereabout) said "price is what you pay, value is what you get". Based on that principle then the polestar is the choice over the AMG or the RS.
Great review! There's no driveshaft in the tunnel going to the rear axle. Only batteries. The rear wheels are powered by an electric motor back there.
This is one of the best looking cars in the history!!!
Love it! 44 electric is enough to get most places for most ppl…this is what we need more of
You can’t go wrong with this beautiful wagon 🎉
Back in the 1990's my family used to have Volvo 740GLE Wagon. Look at Volvo now, what an engineering! Very well designed as well, pretty automobile. Thanks a lot Joe ❤
Oh wow! Those were the days!
@@RaitisRides We had a 1988 740 GLE Wagon that I inherited as a senior in high school. Had 2 MTX 12" subs and a 1,000 watt amp. We called that thing the battle wagon!
We did too! In that blue/green with the tan leather interior.
Had one of these as a rental.. Really nice and fast
Love these!
"I'm getting blown away by the performance of this video." Good one Joe. Zonks come in 1/2 of a Zonk....funny.
You crack me up
@@RaitisRides and vice versa. There is a lot of competition in the auto journalist field, however you are the rock star. I will try to get to Tampa next time you have a fan club event.
I agree with the quad tip exhaust joe! The exhaust is one of the first things i look at on a performance car
Another great video Joe
Yes…I’m convinced 😍 Volvo are so underrated
I appreciate you letting me share all the details with you!
@@RaitisRides thanks again
Nice video as always. Raiti, Im from Sweden and my dad actually had a Buick Estate Wagon (1973) with wooden sided - loved that car
Insane vehicle Joe!
I glad that you think so.
Joe, your deep dives are the best in the business IMO. You combine entertainment and information like no other. Heard some good things about Polestar and thought they only did EVs. Love the Hybrid construct. Like the stealthy look with massive calipers and rear flare. Nice touch with the seatbelts too.
Love the Black Licorice!
Thanks for letting me share it all with you! I appreciate you being so supportive!
I've been researching V60s lately. Looking for CPO older model with the exhaust tips.
Great job steve-o! 👏
He is the man!
sweet ride, nice rims! rims look custom aftermarket 👍🙂
I thought so as well.
Fantastic review! What an absolute great looking and driving car!
I think for brute performance, AMG E63 rules the roost.
You got that David!
I have a 2020 V60 R-Design T6. Within 45,000 km I had 3 rotors replaced with 2 under warranty and the service guy just shrugged. I had the S60 previously with no brake issues at all . Apart from that, it’s been a fine people and goods hauler. The recharge version seems techno overkill tho. I would prefer
just the ICE.
I had the v60 polestar T-8 2020
My electric (hand)brake got stuck several times on a monthly base.
Brought it in several times and they couldn’t find the problem.
They did change a few things trying to fix it but that didn’t help it. I enjoyed it for over 2 years but then sold it as i came too the conclusion that the over engineered engine could be a problem down the road
@@stevencampens4158 I bought an 8 year extended warranty so we will see. Long story but I lost 1 fob and it cost over $800 CDN to replace it including the physical glove box key!!!
I also payed for the extended warranty. Volvo payed back that amount as I didn’t use it.
The check was sent fast so good service!
*Love the content*
Thanks for having my back!
Not as much a fan of black or red licorice as your awesome videos, keep up the good work!
Thanks Jay! I can't do it without you!
My mom is thinking bout a new Volvo wagon in a few years from now. She now has an Audi q3 suv that’s almost 10 yrs old. She bought it new in the fall of 15, thx for the review.
Not sure what’s cleaner. The shape of that car or Raitis’ kicks. He always has some nice crispy kicks…👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Oh man that’s sick! Those calipers… seat belts… wagon… 🔥 I want it lol
Excellent video Joe.
I really appreciate you always watching!
you past the tampa bay auto museum and the lockheed martin I used to work at! was getting dejavu watching this.
On my Christmas wish list!
I hope you have been good this year!
I love the car! But I'm more impressed by that you didn't completely stop at a single stop sign.
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video real true 👍
Miss my V90 wagon. Driving a new S90 now, which I’ve been really happy with. There’s just something about a wagon though.
You are so right about that!
Love this review Joe. Curious to hear your thoughts about how this thing manages potholes and how the sound system is? This V60 checks so many boxes as a great liking wagon that balances comfort, performance and safety. I’ve been thinking about upgrading from my 2018 Golf R which has been great.
It rides super well. I don't hit pot holes in particular but other road issues it felt good.
Man that’s pretty good mileage for the performance.
This is so very true!
As an owner of a '23 V60 PE, I drove over 1000 miles before my last two fill ups. And I drive on freeways around Houston. It's unbelievable.
@@cmenscherwe have 2020 V60 PE and so far average consumption has been 3.6L/100km. 75 000 km. But going up as my wife drives long distances and hybrid does not help much in that.
And generally I think it is excellent car.
I am as enthusiastic as you are. I ordered one 6 months ago. 3 more months of waiting (still a MY2024)...
No supercharger in MY 2024. They simplified it a bit (which seemed to be necessary).
That is so fantastic! You are going to love it!
While driving I switch between eco, comfort, sport and sport+ all the time on my 340 because it's a tactile button. I wonder how fast I would b able to teach myself to go from settings to driving to polestar in this car?
I wish they had the xc90 in the polestar brakes and rim package. I have the t8 455hp and a custom chip tune plus cool air intake. Adding 90hp and yes it was Dyno tested
That would be fantastic!
To the door panel … gets me every time 😎🚀🔥❤️🤙👌
Thanks Eric! I appreciate you letting me share all the laughs and cars with you!
I love it I'm going to get one this weekend
My dream garage is this as a daily and the 911st as my weekend car
Dope car. Small zonk for the white polestar badge on the grill. Distracting design. Also need buttons for the AC stuff but otherwise 👍🏼👍🏼
I like what Volvo does with their lineup of cars.
I love black licorice and you should try Ladkris candy. I ordered this car and am picking it up at the factory. Volvo has a fantastic overseas delivery program that is another benefit of this vehicle.
I never really been into station wagons but I really like this 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I think it’s looks better than the Dodge Magnum to be honest.
I totally agree with you!
Love all of it
Nice Volvo wagon ! ( something I thought I'd never say) That infotainment screen and side vents is straight out my 24 Subaru. A bit pricy though and I hate licorice 🤣
I know right! She looks so good!
I just sold my 21 e63 mag wagon and got this one. 0-30 this is faster due to electric then the amg will be much faster. Amg was 125k new this was for me 66k and free trip to Sweden to pickup. The merc was much more luxurious but you have to pay to play and mpg was 14-18. My wife found the merc too long and big and crazy haha.
I love the modern day luxury wagons! Audi has the best looking one🔥
You have good taste!
Nice
I’m glad you are digging this wagon!
Love black licorice, especially when it's shaped like a tasty Volvo wagon.
It's a beautiful car it looks will age well
I love black licorice!
Finally we have a Volvo in this channel 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I have more coming so please stay tuned!
@@RaitisRides I'll be here Joe , believe me 😁😁😁
I love black licorice
Does it recharge the batteries fully in regen or does it have to be plugged in eventually to get the full 40+ ev miles?
There is no point to buying a plugin hybrid if you can't plug it in every night.
@@DM72513 This doesnt really answer my question which I don’t believe is unreasonable. - 1. I dont see how your statement is true? I believe there are a few cars that can regen their batts fully AND be plug-ins. And 2. What if I am already setup for a L1 charger but forget to plug in over night? Can I rely on regen to get me 40+ miles here and there? Or not?
I own this car. I believe it can thru "charge" mode ( impossible by regen braking unless you were coming down mount everest). But it makes no sense to charge fully (perhaps ever) by the engine bc its less efficient than just running fully ice (and not charging - your mileage goes down) then plugging it when you get home.
@@mykeljewell It will regen and you can also use petrol engine to charge battery.
Regen works like in EVs, but is not very strong. It also applies 'regen breaks' first when ever you touch break pedal.
i.e. first regen and then apply friction breaks.
@@mykeljewell Of course it can regen the battery but the amount of gasoline driving and miles needed to recharge the battery fully would defeat the purpose entirely and get you worse gas mileage than the ICE variant.
Have you driven the sedan?
Well I love black liquorice Joe, red nice but black is the best. My favourite was the sherbet fountain, with a black liquorice stick in it. Also love the liquorice strap…oh the V60P is so tempting. So much cheaper that an RS4 or M3 Touring…that I also love. The only thing it’s missing is a drive mode selector and paddle shifters. Oh and should come with wireless Apple car play and android auto.
I dig that Good N Plenty myself. Licorice nirvana!
As soon as I hear electric motor It’s zonked for me!
Raiti’s Rides is really a rich people’s show. 🍷🥩💰
Interesting that that they use the same size tire as a Camry XSE.
I like how this looks like a baby panamera
Not seeing that at all
Looks nowhere near a panamera
@@RaitisRides oh.
Another great review! Oh and strawberry licorice is the best. Black licorice is 🤮🤮🤮
Thanks for your vote!LOL
Raiti says at 8:33 it has an electric supercharger. Did he really mean that? Volvo web site says it doesn't only the turbo starting in the 2024 year. What's your opinion?
Late run 2022s (2022.5) have the same power train with exposed exhaust, they're black and laser etched with "Polestar Engineered". Looks great. Those late runs also have Sensus compared to Google and the black is a flat black (Stone Black) rather than the metallic here (Onyx). Great cars regardless!
Can you tell me more ways to tell a 2022.5 from a 2022
@@calebnoack6886
It's really hard to tell from the outside. From the inside, if the instrument display is on, you can see the battery charge meter and roughly calculate if it's 2022.5 based on how much mileage is reported remaining. On a full charge, 2022.5 will be 40+ miles remaining where earlier will be
Its a very interesting vehicle
if manufacturers made wagons with just decent power and priced them at $30k - they'd sell like crazy
Not here in the States.
Sweet Swede!! 👏
I love what you did there!
Loving the Volvo V60 Recharge Polestar Engineer it looks good for $75,000.
I totally agree with you Luis!
Yeah Joe I love the way it looks.@@RaitisRides
Speaking of Volvo Joe, their new 2025 Polestar 3 looks pretty funky to me 😮🫣
They are really bringing funky designs for sure
@RaitisRides I heard that it doesn't even have rear glass cause of the digital rearview mirror! Relying a little too much on tech Volvo.......
@@chrisgelo1425 Polestar 4 and 5 does not have rear glass. 3 is 'normal'.
@mho0 Ah yeah that's right, got those mixed up for some reason.
I believe that the previous version of this car did indeed have a drive mode dial in the center console, seems to me like they got rid of it as a cost cutting measure, same holds true for the climate buttons, kind of disappointing to me coming from Volvo which is all about safety, otherwise it seems like a great car, I have a XC60, I'll have to give this one a look when I am in the market, I had a couple of v70's back in the day and loved them. Black Licorice? absolutely!
That , Look Hard I will Driver That Bad Boyz 💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That. Look Hard I will Driver That Bad Boyz 💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I knew you would love this one.
Gotta zonk the black licorice
Looks like this Volvo has the beans. The Eagle is a classic though. Candy? Yes, I dig licorice, especially the black jelly beans, and I liked Black Jack gum whenever it made its intermittent return with Beeman's. I also like Good N Plenty. My favorite candy though is anything with peanut butter in it (Now a no-no, as I've become allergic to peanuts!). I also like white chocolate covered pretzels. The licorice black looks good on the Volvo. The price is relatively good toom
Exposed brake bleed nipples on the outside of the calipers ???? Range: it would be nice to know how realistic the 44 miles of electric range are, and under what conditions are 40+ miles possible (e.g. no A/C, no headlights, speed
Thanks for sharing your points!
I'm a '23 V60 owner and after a few weeks my car settled into a consistent 34 mile range. I have a bit of a lead foot, and do a fair amount of freeway driving in Houston, so 60 MPH+ can eat into battery range. EV's don'r get more efficient at highway speeds like ICE cars.
My guy really likes his candy and sugars. lol
I don't think V60 is a competitor for AMG E63 or AUDI A6 Avant because it's smaller and lower price. It should be a direct competitor for C43 Estate or A4 Avant.
Yep. Size is almost equal to A4 Avant (we had both 0.5 years ago...)
Yes i like black licorice, and red. ( strawberry) i like ur reviews as well!!
Thanks for having my back! I really appreciate it!
Sign you up Joe. We can arrange that I have Connections 😝😝😝😝😝😝😝
Yes Speedvision!!! Don't forget the Accords too. It's sad they don't show this series anymore. I remember Plato and Thompson having battles the veteran v new kid.
Anyway... Oh ya Volvo. I'm a fan. Would love a 6 cylinder and the infotainment is really slow
Black licorice, I will stick to the Volvo
Which one is lest likely to get stolen?
at 8:15, thats not the electric motor, the electric motor sits underneath the floor on the rear axle.
black licorice is a big zonk for me!
I'm gonna have to ZONK the black licorice...
Ngl, I had to rewind when you mentioned the 0-60
2024 Volvo V60 T8 Recharge eAWD Polestar Engineered Wagon!
Thanks Scott for bringing it!
@@RaitisRides! No problem!
True car enthusiasts are wagon enthusiasts
Got the ultimate version for 5 month now. The power/acceleration is probably 99% the same like the Polestar. The sound system I got is the "cheaper" Harman Kardon setup. I could listen to both the two sound systems in the show room. It is absolutely not worth the price difference to go with the much more expensive Bowers & Wilkins setup. The Harman Kardon is already incredibly good. Under the line I don't think the Polestar edition is worth the higher price - the gold (yellow) breaks and seat belts even look worse for my taste... The Volvo V60 Ultimate is amazing!
My only regret on my 2024 V60 Polestar is the slow onboard charger. Otherwise, it's a great wagon.
It's too bad they don't make a full size wagon anymore. That would be more useful. I had an '06 V70R. Size was sweet with the full cargo area and 3rd row option, but performance and driving experience was typical Volvo.
This hybrid boost setup looks like a legit performer, although I'm not keen on the idea of adding the additional electric power system.
Those were the days!
Volvo does make a larger wagon...the V90. Doesn't come Polestar Engineered though.
@@TheDanibus v90 doesn't have a 3rd row seat, which I need. Unfortunately, Mercedes is the only wagon with that option now. I looked hard at the e wagon but settled on a Durango SRT, which is fine for what it is, but drives more like a truck than a wagon.
Anyone else know what's new/different in 2024 v 2023/22/21/20/19?!
At least the Polestar should have real performance exhausts, with nice sound. Have to get rid of that cloth though.
CRV style tail lamps
Gold wheels and low profile ski box will complete the look.
Beauty of a wagon…. I’m sure customers lease these Volvos knowing Volvos history of reliability history. We need the return of wagons back in North America car market.
That is a great question!
I love this car. It’s not a beast and it’s not a twin turbo V8 but it’s fun. It won’t be around much longer unfortunately.
When Volvo is done with Wagons, I'll be done with Volvo. Such a bummer we are moving towards a wagon-less future in the US. At least we get some sweet options like this V60 PE to see us out the door. Long live the bricks!
