You are prepared more than 90% of the people! I have been binge watching your videos. Keep on truckin' Lady! From one woman to another....you are my hero! Loving what you are doing ro your home!
You are doing great. Most of those comments are from city folks wishing they could do what you’re doing but will never take the leap of faith. You won’t know what you don’t know until you start doing it. We still learn new things every year. Keep up the good work.
You seem a helluva lot better prepared than 90% of people I know! I'll bet those naysayers are not half as ready to face any adversities as you are. Hope you just ignore them!
Impossible to plan, especially with climate change anything can happen. Where I am, there’s coastal, flooding, landslides, tsunami, earthquake, torrential rain, sitting off on the ocean, up high over a Forest, vacation homes no one’s even around. And now our first fire in 2020 nobody’s prepared nobody’s ever prepared.
Homestead life is definitely a lot of work. I think that is part of what makes it so rewarding. You can never be prepared enough, but if you have the right attitude you can work through about anything.
I think you were incredibly well prepared. Don't listen to these people. Of course you can't anticipate every eventuality. You have done remarkably well.
Do your own thing..I love your cabin and property and what you have done..sounds like maybe some are jealous..gorgeous find in the table and chairs..be happy and safe!!
True words were said by you! Personally I think you are more prepared than other u tubers in Alaska! You are very practical. And nothing stops you doing things. Keep smiling , and do it your own way! X
Hi Alone, I have got to say that you are doing a lot better than a lot of people. For a woman who lives by herself your brave and doing fabulous. Also to get the water stains out of your table all you gotta do is get a damp tea towel put it down on the stain and iron over it. I have done it many times. Keep ironing over it until stain is gone. You rock girl . From Newfoundland 🇨🇦👍🏻
Another good video and the scenic view is amazing as usual. I like your cabin and thinks it's very cool place to live. Being prepared is living your dream and that's what you're doing. People talk just to be saying something and will always criticize others. Have a good weekend and be safe.
"Preparedness paralysis" - I like that! And you are absolutely right! You can't prepare for everything. Try to ignore those negative comments. Thanks for the video, Alone! 😊
Hi Tiff! Came up with that one all on my own, I did! 🤣 I pay no attention to the negative comments. I think for the most part the individual making the remarks is speaking of themselves or is having a bad day and taking it out on others. Thanks for watching the video! Glad to have you along for the show! 🤗💛
You are an inspiration to all of us to never give up on your dreams. Your cabin is absolutely beautiful. You are doing very well with all of your life adventures in Alaska. Those naysayers don’t know what they are talking about. I learn so much from your videos. Thank you for not giving up. Take Care my friend. 💖😊🐶💕
You got this I've been watching old videos to catch up and I think your doing amazing. The chairs and table are beautiful. I love that old sewing machine with the long bobbin never seen this.
I love your new table & chairs-a beautiful addition to your kitchen! You have a very nice sewing room also! As far as preparedness goes, don't listen to the naysayers...I think you are very prepared! People are always going to criticize, no matter what you do! You & Kenai take care & stay safe! 💜🙏
Your cabin is becoming really classy with the new furniture and painting. I do highly suggest that you work on grtting either a snowblower or 6 wheeler with a plow and maybe get a 4 wheel drive truck that sits higher than your car. Overall, nice video.
Good advice, I have a small Honda snowblower, and that is really effective on my driveway, and easy to use. The key start has stopped working but the pull cord start is really easy. I will get it serviced this fall, so it is ready for another winter.
I've lived here in Alaska for 16 years now and not one have been the same. Each year is unique every breakup is different as is every winter and summer. You will never be able to be totally prepared for every hickup. We can cover some of the bases and have backup plans. Every day, week, month or year you survive is a day, week, month,or year you were prepared for. Sure glad I don't speek duck I'm pretty sure those were cuss words. When the wolves come howling at your door howl right back at them they will realize how foolish they sound. The snow actually acts as an insulation for the ground. Not letting the frost penitrait as deep plus driving over the ground drives the frost deeper into the ground
You're doing fine with your preps! Two years in Alaska and you're still alive, have a roof over your head, food to eat, and wood to keep you warm. You're living proof of your successful preps.
The cabin is coming along beautifully! Looking forward to all the other awesome changes you will be doing in the cabin and on the property! May GOD continue to bless you on your life’s journey! 🙏🏻
Alaska is beautiful all year long! Your table and chairs are beautiful! I'm glad you got the table along with the chairs. I love, love, love you're cabin. It's perfect so you can design it how you want it. How wonderful to have your Great Grandma's sewing machine. I have an old treadle sewing machine that I bought from a flea market. It's wonderful to get to see sweet Kenai in the video. Hugs and kisses to Kenai and hugs to you. Take care and God Bless you and Kenai always
We are identical in the way we think, prepare and somewhat see the future! It’s weird it’s like I’m watching a female version of me! I really don’t understand why people don’t see stuff the way I do! Great channel btw!
loveeeeee the table and chairs!!! and you are absolutely correct, nobody is ever 100% prepared for anything in life...love your mindset! Keep shining!!!! xoxoxox
Just started watching your channel and I love it. I moved out to the country in rural Arkansas two years ago and my friends thought I was crazy. Yet they are still living in a city with shootings and murders every day. Love the quiet remote life. I look forward to your videos!
I've been following you off and on, as time permits. I applaud your decision to make a huge change in your life and take on wild Alaska at the same time. For those who love an adventurous life, it's the most fun when you don't try to plan every step. Those plans never work anyway, so being flexible and learning as you go along can be so much fun. Will you make mistakes? Of course. It's OK, because you didn't miss out on all of these things along the way. Plus, you've met some great people.
I love your furniture I love antiques. I think your doing great. Although I could not do without a bathroom just me lol. I grew up without inside bathroom so I don’t ever want to repeat. Admire your courage.
I don't think your prepared for all the happiness that life style is going to bring you. I bet some days the joy will be overwhelming and i hope you will be able to handle it, good luck and try to contain your happiness it's contagious you know
That’s so funny people calling you unprepared! They just don’t understand that the biggest part of preparedness is resilience and adaptability! In a sense our journeys are parallel - I’m probably much older than you but I moved alone in 2020 to a relatively isolated acreage adjacent to state forest with a large dilapidated house that had “good bones.” Also in a colder climate with much more snow than I’ve ever had to deal with. As time passes it’s obvious that the most important quality of preparedness is in the mind and spirit! Logistics are the fun part. Chimney fires, heating failures, the environment presenting you with demands on your courage and physical strength under duress - that’s where the rubber meets the road & your mindset spells the difference between making it and not. Your videos really do help me keep my spirits up as I’ve experienced some of the same challenges that you have. Don’t let the ignorance of others get to you!
I have always been impressed with how you have dealt with unexpected issues. No one can be prepared for everything no matter where you live. Your knowledge of what you need to do is impressive. I would say you were more prepared than most would be. Love seeing the additions to your home. The table and chairs are really nice! I love your sewing room!
Hi Karen! Ah, thank you! I do try to think ahead, but don't always hit the mark exactly as intended. But that is life, live and learn. 😉 Even long time Alaska residents have commented on how I am more prepared in some ways then they find themselves to be. That makes me feel good about what I am doing. Thank you for the compliments on the furniture and the sewing room. Looking forward to getting some sewing projects done soon. 🤗💛
Table and chairs look great! Your place is getting super nice! Love the red cabinets. And- f the macho nay sayers! They have their own koo koo agenda. Your doing great!!! No doubt about it.
Hi Alone, Good to see you. Issues come up. It doesn't matter where you live or how you live. Keep on keeping on. When the Mississippi rises, people don't move to the Sahara Desert. Have fun and be safe!
At the minute 13:10 of the video, my aunt Mary has a sewing machine, just like the video, a Singer that was of my great-grand-mother Anastasia, its a treasure for my aunt and still functional🙂👍. That dinner table is huge, but got a lot of style, with a little bit of love is going to be great. See you in the next video 🙂👋👋, stay safe and healthy 🙏🙏🐶
Love that table and chairs. Heck yes. There are always nay sayers, Alone. Wouldn't matter what you do or didn't. Bet they are safe in some air-conditioned serviced area. You are obviously doing fine, or we wouldn't be here watching you still. God bless.
You are resourceful and gutsy. That's why I watch you. Ignore people who don't understand taking risks and what it takes to make a dream come true. Enjoying your ride!
To ease your mind a bit, youre not hearing wolves. You live about 2 miles from us and youre hearing coyotes. The wolves in unit 13 are heavily managed and the few that are in the area dont come around the subdivisions
You go girl! Your doing great. People are just jealous and feel they can judge people. Life is full of curve balls no matter where you live. Keep doing you!!!
The dinning set is BEAUTIFUL! That was a great find. As your cabin comes together this will look so much more beautiful. I look forward to continuing to watch you transform the place.
I hope these people who say you aren't prepared have watch ALL of your videos. I'm not sure anyone has researched, and read more then you have on remote survival. They probably also don't know that you bush camped for years in CO and are very comfortable in remote places. One of your earlier videos on how you prepared your medical kit, had me second guessing my own kit and I live in suburban Maryland with a major hospital 15 minutes away! 🤣🤣 You have the mental fortitude to do this, and us to talk to, but...I never say "Just ignore it" when people criticize, because it's always an opportunity to stop and take a look again at what I'm doing, but if everything looks good to me, then I just move on from it. Seems like you do the same. I love the new table and chairs, they look perfect in your kitchen!
Hi Lori! I do wonder if those that leave such comments do so because they have not watched more than just one video, and they see a petite woman living a life that many men or couples would not be able to without much effort, and automatically jump to the conclusion that what I am doing by myself is not possible; therefore, I must be unprepared by default. The best part of any comment is finding a takeaway in each. I never stop learning, especially from my viewers. I get amazing advice and suggestions and even those that leave unconstructive criticism have a lesson to be learned from them. Usually it is "remember that people have bad days, no one is perfect, we all make mistakes, and sometimes it is just easier to forecast our own shortcomings onto others, than it is to provide helpful feedback." 😉💛
I’m glad you addressed those small minded comments, I assume those people haven’t been following you from the start. You’re doing a top job Alone, you never back away from a challenge you always find your way around it. You’re there for the long haul ❤ Great first look at the sewing room and some of your machines, the old dining table is going to make a fantastic cutting table. The new dining suite will make a great addition to your home😊
It's always interesting to see what TH-cam randomly starts playing after I have fallen asleep. From what I have seen of your videos I think you are doing an awesome job. I have always wanted to visit Alaska because my parents spent the first two years of their marriage living in Alaska on Woody Island. The crazy part is that my mother was born and raised in Coral Gables Florida which is near Miami and she had only traveled as far North as Hendersonville NC where her Grandfather owned a large estate with a farm where they spent time during the summer months helping to pick berries and grapes for the wine they made each year and also helping to harvest and preserve the vegetables and fruit grown on the property . She had never seen snow before or experienced the cold temperatures that northern states have. She loved it there. Dad was transferred to New York State after 2 years there and it was probably a good thing because Mom was pregnant with her first baby my eldest sister who was born feet first. It was around 1953 or 4 and the nurses freaked out a bit when they saw the feet because the doctor hadn't arrived yet. I have always loved hearing about their time in Alaska and looking at the hundreds of photographs they took.
Don’t listen to the nay sayers. You’re going to be fine. Just keep living your dream and look at what you’ve achieved so far. I think you’re awesome. Blessing Gail from Australia. 🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
My mom had 2 antique sewing machines as well. She refinished the cabinets they sit in and her modern one sits on top. I have tried to teach myself how to thread it and fill bobbins by watching TH-cam videos. Thanks for sharing. Table and chairs look great, you can always put a table cloth over it as a protector. Have a great week!!
You are my inspiration! Don't listen to the people who want to squash your dreams. You keep killing it up there, and making great videos so I can continue cheering you on from here. ❤😁🥰
Hi Dianna! Oh, I don't let them get to me. I am just as stubborn as I have ever been, especially when it comes to following my dreams. So glad that you are following along! 🤗💛
So long as you have a functional house ( by that I mean insulated and no leaky roof), enough food, water and heat most people would be fine and I don't mind if it was for a few weeks. Seems you have managed just fine in the two years you've been there. As for standing water that's to be expected at certain times, like we have clay soil here in the mountains ergo standing water takes a little longer to absorb into the ground then stays wet for a few days. Beautiful table and chairs. We have my other half's grandmother's Singer sewing machine in the cabinet still in beautiful shape, although I don't sew. Keep living your dream your doing a fantastic job.. Hugs to Kenai Be Blessed.😊🇺🇲
You are in inspiration for many and are doing great job. Don't worry about the negative comments. Live your life the way you want. None of us are perfect but you sure do make an effort to follow your dreams.
Never mind the haters, Alone. Remember, EVERYONE has their two cents to add...good or bad. I think you are incredibly brave, gutsy and I love your unwavering determination to not only LIVE a fabulous life in remote Alaska, but to be well prepared, and THRIVE as (I feel) that you are. You live (seemingly) very comfortably, just fine with Kenai. Keep in keeping on, Alone! Looking forward to more of your excellent videos. Happy Spring. 🌼🌷🌼✌️❤️🙂
Wow! Thank you for your support and wonderful comments. It was a pleasure to meet you in real life. We were impressed and honored to have done so. Love your gun cleaning station as well!
Omg woman,…..you are more prepared than a lotta people I know. We have been living this life style for years and still, some close friends I know live by week to week. They have to rely on others for everything. We all need help once in a while but for the most part it seems you have rocked this life style and can do almost everything. Your awesoMe girl. 🇨🇦🌷 PS the Yukon machine looks so much like my grams old machine. It had a shuttle bobbin too. Hers was a singer.
If you could ever get your hands on some coal to burn in your stove, you could save a lot of firewood. Something that would be a priority for me, if I lived out there, would be getting a tractor, with as many implements as possible. I grew up on farm land and always had a tractor, so trying to imagine living out in the country like this without one would be quite difficult. I’m sure I would be able to survive, but I would feel helpless without my tractor. But you seem to be doing fine. You are living a dream.
Good Evening Alone and Kenai, Another wonderful stirring and encouraging and lovely scenery video- Thank you!. I was so excited for you- you'd mentioned about wanting to get up and clear the snow off the roof and clean out the 'stove smoke escape' HAha Sorry-don't know what to call that! But anyhoo, so glad for you that you were able to get to it; And get a lot of other things on your to-do list done as well. Your chairs and table are gorgeous! Great idea with putting your other table upstairs. I love listening to your stick-to-itiveness gal! Love to you and Kenai.. : )
SEWING ❤❤❤❤ I have a singer 1959 401A slant O-Matic. Would not use anything modern. It’s made out of steel. I love it and love sewing on a vintage machine. I also crochet and it. Love that you sew!!!!!!!❤
Here’s the thing: Back in the day, when this country was new, & people were settling it, there was usually a COUPLE, & CHILDREN & NEIGHBORS, who all worked together on a homestead……don’t these people get it? YOU ARE ALONE! ( good grief, folks, it’s her NAME) You are doing GREAT! BTW, that’s why there is a delete button…..kisses to Kenai❤️🐾❤️
As as your preparation is excellent. The accomplishments for a lady are excellent. Thank You for sharing. Love dining set and your cabin. Regards to you and Kenai..
Well said. Must be they did not see all your videos. You are very well prepared. Sounds more like some people are praying you fail. Or they are hoping to start Drama. They must have very sad lives, if all they can do is watch utube and make negative comments. Oh well. Love the new /Old table. You found a way to live your dream. I am so greatful to those of you who are so willing to share. Thank you. You have a wonderful hart.
Never give up, never surrender. I have the same water problem at my property, first time in I have had this issue in 20 years. No such thing as a typical winter or spring. I have been hearing wolves around my place lately, not common for me. Love the grenade!
Hi Dave! I will never give up or give in! I am way too stubborn for that! Luckily the ground is starting to dry up. Well the standing water is draining finally if nothing else. The wolves were really close to the cabin again a few weeks back. From how loud their howls were, I figure they were within half a mile of the cabin. The guy who plows my driveway traps in the area, and he told me that the pack here is growing in size and that they have no fear of people. Wondered how long it would be before someone pointed out the grenade. Not surprised that you noticed it. 😉
That is a hell of a lot of work. That’s about five times what I do here. YOU ARE A PREPPER!!! YOU ARE PREPARED!!!!! I never expected the life I came here and found. It was supposed to be a lot easier and I was told everything would be much simpler. Now I’ve become like an outdoors rural woman who takes care of herself all alone in the woods it’s not easy at all with the generator and the wood And the water and everything else. Plus the pandemic and a fire, power outages and snow, I’ve had health issues, a biopsy. I was never prepared for any of this and I was told it would not be like this. I wasn’t looking for the Off grid life but I ended up in it, sometimes there’s nothing you can do. And I haveNO neighbors who will help or lend a hand like you just said absolutely nothing!!!!Oregon is really strange and people who know about Oregon know what I’m talking about. It’s EXTREME isolation. Luckily I do have money.
Hi Alone, I do think you are prepared. The only thing I worry about is the climbing on the ladder in the snow on top of the cabin. You never plan to fall but just never know. I do feel better thst you call the neighbor now when you climb up so they can wait for a safe down call from you. I'm so glad you have that system now. I admire what you're doing. I would be to scared to do that by myself. You are brave and I think you are amazing but be safe.
This is an old video but there’s a guy on TH-cam that refurbishes stuff and I know he’s done some old sewing machines. Might be worth a search/view. Good luck! Those are beautiful machines!
I tell myself i don’t want to do something, all the time I am telling myself that I do what needs to be done and then it’s finished. It’s sort of a self trick, but it works every time.
You have done a great job and were well prepared to make it through two winters, keep up the great work and live your dream. If you give it up, the wedding is off 😘
I like the work you're doing outside need a ton of stone out there to get rid of some of that water maybe. Like the table and the chairs very nice. I love the cleaning table. Just be careful stay locked and loaded those bears are out now. Annie have a GREAT and Safe Week.🌹❤️🌹🖖LOVES
Ah, thank you, Chip! I really appreciate that! Wish I could take credit for the scenery, but that is all Alaska's doing! 😉 The mud is welcome to go away anytime now! 🤣
I was thinking of you this week as I was sewing and reorganizing in my sewing room and what do you know that we have something in common. What do you sew? I'm a quilter but occasionally am a clothing seamstress. There was a quilter on Facebook where mice got into her fabric stash. From my own lake cabin experience mice hate Bounce dryer sheets, so pack some of those in your fabric stash as well as wires, under the car hood, etc. As for "preparedness," I say Seize the Day and live without regret. I remember your first video where you talked about the monotony and grind of life in your Colorado suburb. You didn't sound happy then. Now, you are living your best dream life, and what a feeling to meet and solve a problem, whether by yourself or with the help of others. I'll also bet that your son and mother feel better by seeing how you tackle challenges on your TH-cam channel. I love your bigger table and bonus chairs.
Hey Alone: Love the table & chairs! Like upstairs, sewing machines etc. You've done a great job there! As I said, older than u, not the grit u have!! Hopefully letter soon. U r CO connection.
How old is a white rotary sewing machine? DATING & IDENTIFYING White Sewing Machines - Fiddlebase Family Rotary - The Family Rotary, or FR, came out in the 1890's, and in various models continued well into the 1930's. FR serial numbers were used on badge machines as well as those labeled "White".
Good evening Alone. You are correct regarding the fly swatter and the scan discs. I hope the discs are the right ones. I’m not very technical. The swatter is fun to use and great for my bedroom at night. You don’t need great aim or a lot of strength . I can’t sleep with anything flying around my head. Glad you got the packages!
Most people, no matter who you are or where you live, are not always prepared for every situation! You are doing great! Keep it up! Live your best life and don't worry about the opinion of others .
I love your vids , I think you are ready to face anything, a very brave woman and doing what you want to do now your kids are grown up it’s your turn so go for it,nobody knows what the future holds so enjoy each day ,Love the colours you picked for kitchen nice autumn shades ,I’m enjoying watching your progress. Take care
You have to be one of the strongest woman I am aware of. Prepared? Who is ever really prepared for anything? Keep going!
You are prepared more than 90% of the people!
I have been binge watching your videos.
Keep on truckin' Lady!
From one woman to another....you are my hero!
Loving what you are doing ro your home!

Nice table and chair set. Who is totally prepared? No one. Plan as we might, there will always be the unforseen. Have a great weekend!

I could agree more, there will never be a perfect time when a person knows everything. Furthermore, learning on the go is half the fun.

GORGEOUS CHAIRS AND TABLE!!!!!! ANTIQUE!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
To ease your mind a bit, youre not hearing wolves. You live about 2 miles from us and youre hearing coyotes. The wolves in unit 13 are heavily managed and the few that are in the area dont come around the subdivisions
Oh good gravy.... you are doing amazing! Stay strong and keep up the great progress!! Love your table and chairs!!
You're doing a great job. It's evident you've thought ahead.
Who needs a gym membership when you can live alone in remote Alaska! Way to go!
Hi Alone! The table is great! (Cushions?) Surely, a stunner in it's day. Folks like you are what makes the consummate tackler. Cheers!
You are amazing!
I’m glad you addressed those small minded comments, I assume those people haven’t been following you from the start. You’re doing a top job Alone, you never back away from a challenge you always find your way around it. You’re there for the long haul ❤
Great first look at the sewing room and some of your machines, the old dining table is going to make a fantastic cutting table.
You have done wonderful living out there! No one is completely prepared for whatever comes in life!!
You seem well prepared to me...plus you are smart and good at problem solving...thats what really makes the difference
Don’t listen to the nay sayers. You’re going to be fine. Just keep living your dream and look at what you’ve achieved so far. I think you’re awesome. Blessing Gail from Australia. 🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
Leveling the front of that property out would be great and then some sand stones and smaller rocks
I too think your cabin is beautiful. As are your videos!!! Thank you Alone, for all of your hard work! And I love your advice!
You are in inspiration for many and are doing great job. Don't worry about the negative comments. Live your life the way you want. None of us are perfect but you sure do make an effort to follow your dreams.
Thanks!
Thank you, Elizabeth! I really appreciate the super thanks! This is very kind of you. 🤗💛
Don't feed the naysayers! You doing so well!
Love the table and chairs.
One of my favorite videos on your channel!! I like seeing the day to day chores! ♥️
SEWING ❤❤❤❤
I have a singer 1959 401A slant O-Matic. Would not use anything modern. It’s made out of steel. I love it and love sewing on a vintage machine. I also crochet and it. Love that you sew!!!!!!!❤
Oh my goodness! I’ve just bought one! It weighs a ton! Amazing machines…happy sewing 🌸
Regards to you and Kenai..
dining set looks nice. I have an old oak table I'm bringing up with me since it was my grandma's but it didn't come with chairs. Camp chairs for me!
Your doing great and living your dream. You'll have negative comment's thats human nature. Scenery is beautiful.
Awesome table and chairs. I knew you would use your original table for a sewing table. Space envy for sewing!
Wouldn’t hurt to get ya a tractor n brush hog n blade in the future. Would be a lot eaiser on ya in the long run. Keep on keeping on. You got this.
You are already ready prepared ❤ Enjoy your life!
I have my granmothers Rotary White electric sewing machine as well!
I look forward to each of your videos, they just keep getting better. Scenery and wild life are great, mud not soo good.
Ah, thank you, Chip! I really appreciate that! Wish I could take credit for the scenery, but that is all Alaska's doing! 😉 The mud is welcome to go away anytime now! 🤣
I suspect you might be making your own dress. You look very nice in your attire! Good job!😊
Good morning here from Romania I greet you with respect Marius 🇹🇩🕳️🖐️❤️
How old is a white rotary sewing machine?
DATING & IDENTIFYING White Sewing Machines - Fiddlebase
Family Rotary - The Family Rotary, or FR, came out in the 1890's, and in various models continued well into the 1930's. FR serial numbers were used on badge machines as well as those labeled "White".
Awesome music and videography! One of your best! Love the table and chairs. I have total faith in your success! 👍🇨🇦😎🐾⭐
EXCELLENT VIDEOS!
Another great compilation, and it’s got some awesome background music, too…
you’re a real pro 😛👍🏼!
Take care
You go, girl! Forget the critics. I’ve lived here all my life and I’m still not prepared
too many uninformed people giving advice. ha ha ha You are right, never can be completely prepared for everything.
