That's an excellent restoration project, the "AMX/3" prototype. Imagine what might have been if this had gone into general manufacture production. What historical stories and achievements it could have contributed to American society and culture. I really cannot wait to see and hear the finished project in action. Good show and presentation topic guys!!!

It was fast!!!!! ol' story; Had a buddy, ex-navy seal 'Nam, #3 auto salesman of the year 2 years running for a very large Mfgr.. saw one on display at a Dealer whom had over a dozen dealerships and Dealer took him out to the freeway on/down ramp... my buddy told me by the time they went down the on ramp and hit the highway it was the first time he had ever been scared in a car! That is a lot of speed in a short distance.
Buddy said the car wasn't for sale so he didn't need to say, 'No' lollol. I'd never seen a pic of the car before this, life is good.

That AMC is so much better than the boring-ass Rustangs and Camarrows that dominate these shows.

Man, AMCs are cool. I hate that they couldn’t stay competitive enough to stay in business, I’d love to see what they would’ve become. This thing is just as awesome as the Pantera and then some.

If you take a moment and look at the rear of the Concept car from an angle or even from the front wheels back, you can see where the lines of the Matador Coupe derived.

It's begging for restoration. I help restore an AMX prototype it was suppose to been crash tested but was spared that fate. Strangely it was totaled later while being trailered to a car show. Fate I guess.

There was a project in California to build fiberglass reproduction bodies and rolling chassis. IIRC the person involved was having a modern transaxle modified to mate to the AMC bell housing. There are videos out there on the project.

Speed Racer car IRL. That must be fun to drive. What poise in the rear, and what lines, a sexy machine! I want an electric one. Can I 3D print the body panels? Does AMC license that design?

Would be cool if someone built a run of replicas with AMC V-8s, as has been done with kit Cobras, GT40s, Cheetahs, etc. Great barn find story, by the way.

Now that's a cool car ! Can't wait to see the restoration of it . Always been a big fan of AMC just never got home with one . Got hold of a Javelin once and before I picked it up it was stolen from the guys yard . So I have stuck with my Chevy muscle cars . I drive a 66 SS Chevelle L78 car . Done a frame off restoration on it . Couple of videos of it on my channel .

The front end of AMX/3 looks like a short nosed Mach 5 from Speed Racer. It's very interesting car and very fortunate that it didn't get lost to time it's self or the only thing possiable left would be old pictures if they even existed. Would love to see this car on the test tracks and speed ways, a sample on video of what this car truly was, guess we all be waiting after the car is restored and I do hope it the original motor because it's not just the design of the car but the engine it's self that breaths life into the design.
