As a someone who took priest to rank 14, it makes me so happy to see other priests using mana burn properly to punish casters, healers and hunters. Dispel and mana burn are hands down the strongest part of the toolkit but everyone is always too focused damage and raw healing (PI mana burn spam is straight degenerate lol). Excellent positioning and teammate/enemy awareness
Hey there I haven’t played vanilla priest since classic and have moved on to hunter in wrath but I can still offer tips from experience :). 1: When to dispel? - you can dispel any magic effect on yourself or others so dispel things such as polymorph on your teammates or Hoj. On yourself, it’s important to dispel mage nova, any slows, any roots, any magic effect really. Dispel dots or clean up teammates, etc. you can also offensively dispel enemies such as: their buffs and anything else beneficial to them that is magic. (You could spam dispel on a target and rid them from their buffs) but dispelling can get you oom pretty fast so use it wisely and with practice in pvp you’ll learn to make better calls or judgement by situation on when to dispel! 2: spamming mana burn can be really good against other casters MAINLY against another priest in a 1v1 situation. But I suggest not to go for the spam mana burn strat all the time unless you’re in a 1v1. Healing your teammates, dispelling kill target or cc on your teammates is more important in bgs. Mana burn only when you feel your team has the advantage in team fight and need less heals and more offensive play imo. 3: you could use mind blast to trade shadow for holy to bait an interrupt. For example: a rogue or warrior is on you and you can’t juke them just cast mind blast to bait a kick and you can get a heal off afterwards since your holy spells will be free. Mind blast can be used to finish people off or just to throw some damage out in a team fight situation where yours have the advantage. In 1v1s it can be used whenever really. Shadow word pain then mind blast. I hope these tips help you in your battles little priest! And remember, pvp is pretty situational especially as a priest so grind it up and learn and you’ll get better for sure wow is very knowledge base so you’ll learn more when you play if you keep at it. This reminds me a lot of Resto Shamans. Swap out a few gear pieces for Stormcallers, Elemental Fury and some DPS rings and BAM 1,500 Frost Shocks, Big Heals and 2k Lightning Bolt Crits.
Just found out your video searching for some Disc pvp action. Pretty great and I actually like the music, it's kinda nostalgic! I am starting on a new vanilla pserver and I am kinda between disc or holy pally. I love the survivability of Paladins but damn they cannot kill jack. I like how Disc can hold its own against most classes. Did you get trained a lot as Disc? Is the extra offensive ability worth the lack of survivability?
Hi, thanks :)... The offensive disc is just a fun playstyle, it's not really the most useful though if you are planning to push rank with a team, but if you are a solo player I'd say so! This spec is really fun for 1v1s or 2v2 situations because you do good damage alongside your teammates with great supportive heals and damage mitigation. Think of it as like you're a support role from Overwatch if you've ever played that.. you DPS and heal but most likely heal all while managing your mana. It's not an easy way to play disc however because yes you do get trained a LOT unfortunately, but the good news is.. if no one is helping you out you can defend yourself :).

Pallies seem amazing when it comes to surviving getting trained but they are like a freaking indestructible pinata xD all defense 0 kill power. I will be playing solo mostly in casual bgs and wpvp so I reckon priest would be more fun!

You can kill you can heal :D, don't forget mana burn, too you will be a menace with that, ooming the enemy is crucial in vanilla, it's also a good bait spell if they wanna kick you and you don't wanna be locked out in holy ;). Were you using improved mana burn? Still seems painfully slow. I play shadow and I wanna use this spell but I tend to regret it when I do (in group settings at least).
Hi! since you're shadow priest I don't think I would run improved mana burn as it. I can't remember it's been a while since I've played vanilla, lol. But there are still a few situations where it's good in 1v1 against other caster's especially other priests or mages if you can manage to get one off. If it's a pure 1v1 though, I wouldn't worry about it.(like a duel or both start at 100% mana HP). Hope I helped. :) Edit: OH ya I wouldn't worry about using it in team fights really unless you see a priest pumping heals and you mana burn spam them safely, but that's a pretty rare situation.
