Excellent review. I've had the non gravel version of this bike for almost two years. I've modified it quite a bit to make it more comfortable. The gravel version wasn't available two years ago but I would buy it today for the ability to put wider tires as well as the disc brakes. I use the five PAS levels as virtual gears since it's a single speed. I'm usually in PAS1 and can get 25-30 miles depending upon hills. I weigh 215 lbs for reference. I can tackle 12% grades in PAS5. The motor engagement is very quick which is a big plus. I did just snap the Toptrans belt after only 3000 miles which surprised me. The Gates belt is likely more durable. I'm impressed with the Roadster V2 as long as you understand it's limitations and intended purpose.
Great review. I have the Gravel V2 with the throttle (I don't use it much at all). You were not misleading but the hills around my house zap the juice from the battery a lot more than one would think after seeing this review. I weigh 220 lbs. so yeah I'm not helping the situation. Everything else in the review was spot on. One thing I would like to see is a head to head with other belt driven ebikes: Tenways, Ride1Up Gravel V2, Velotric and any other comparable belt driven ebikes. That would be very cool.
Hey there thanks for your review and code. I just received my Gravel bike. I love it. I ride mountain bikes, this is my first ebike. This bike is fun as hell! 🤙🏽
Solid review, very thorough. Just purchased using your referral link and discount code, should be getting the bike this week! Thanks for taking the time to make the vid.
I really do wish that there is a version with gears. Then it would be the perfect ebike for me. Currently, only the Velotric T1 is about this light and has gears.
Thanks for the helpful review. Quick question about the two frame sizes. I'm 5'8" with a 30" inseam, so I assumed the larger frame with 33" standover height would be too tall for me to comfortably stand over. But you said you're 5'8" with a 29" inseam and you're comfortable with the large frame edition? Don't you have to tilt the bike sideways when standing over it? Like you, I prefer a taller frame but would also be able to stand over it without tilting it. Thanks for shedding light on this.
I have a few gripes with the bike. among them is false advertisement. these are chinese ebikes btw. the motor is rated 500w peak power on the website but if you take the controller out there is a 300w rating printed on it.
Love this bike it's right now number one on my wishlist, however it's sold out in all sizes and colors. Is there something on the market that you guys could recommend that's similar in price and specs? Are you familiar with Fiido's Gravel Bike? Would love to see a side by side comparison video (or even just a review of the Fiido since it's a lesser known brand). They look almost identical but have many distinct differences.
The bike frame shown is way too big for a 5-foot-8 rider with a 29-inch inseam. The fact the seat post is completely invisible is evidence (and a seat post right against the frame is aesthetically ugly). The 33-inch standover height means a 5-foot-8 person needs a step stool to climb onto the bike and then risk injuring the groin area every time the rider stands up off the seat such as at a stop sign. No doubt there are some men who would refuse to consider a "small" bike, but that would be the right size in this case. I'm 5-9.5, 30-inch inseam, and my small Gravel Edition is plenty big enough, with my seat post extended less than halfway. It's a bit taller than my size Medium Gary Fisher X-Caliber. My Gravel Edition fits a water bottle cage and a lock on the frame. I can't imagine a 5-foot-8 person being comfortable with a bike built and sized for a 6-foot-3 person (think Russell Westbrook). This bike is just too big for folks with less than a 33-inch inseam -- and don't get me started on the questionable decision to forego a throttle; a throttle Gravel Edition like mine cost $1145 new in October 2023, and offers options for the rider that are lost with a bike you always have to be pedaling. All that said, great review, great points made about one of the best bargain e-bikes out there, not to mention one of the best looking e-bikes at any price.
Feel like you made a lot of unfair assumptions about me (the reviewer) in this comment. But I agree, and even say in the conclusion, I would get the small. The back story here is that this bike was originally intended for Ryan, the other person on the channel to review, and was spec'd for him at 6'.
Great review! Do you happen to know of a comparable bike with gears and a throttle? The closest bike that I know of is the Aventon Soltera, which is not a gravel bike, but has a similar frame.
Without doing some modifying or tinkering yourself, there is not much out there. -Propella ebikes don't have throttles -Ride1Up makes a throttle version of the Roadster, but no gears -Soltera would need tires and potentially drop bars -Ride1Up's new CF Racer is awesome, but again, lacks a throttle. So nothing that fits both of the things you were asking for. But maybe you can overlook the throttle?
@@EbikeEscape Very true, those are definitely all great bikes. It’s too bad that nobody is combing all the best features into one right now. They definitely all have their strengths and weaknesses. Thanks
The hill climbing would be meaningful if there were information about the hill and its % of climb and its length. Many e-bikes struggle with hills that are really steep like 9% or 10% or 14% etc.

Buy an E bike like it's the only bike you will ever need and never need to upgrade. That's the E bike you need. I would hate to have to ride on gravel unless I had absolutely no choice. And I would want fat tires and dual suspension if I did needed to or were forced to. Just saying.
I have three… 😂 a cargo 4” tire w cruise control, single speed that weights 90lbs with all the crap i’ve put on there. can carry me and my gf lol A ride1up v2 gravel to commute & a jackrabbit micro ebike to go to yoga studio. I think it’s pretty hard to get a do it all bike.
@@DefenseMyGuy well it depends on what you want to use an EBike for the most. I think most people like myself here where I live can do with only one bike. No woods..no bike paths or bike lanes.. No trails or beaches.. Just residential areas, businesses and industrial areas. So I'm sure a busy working man or woman gets 12 hours free time to go out riding. Relocated to sidewalks and urban subdivision streets I think one bike would be fine. If you are retired (and have a rack) or folding bike, you may be able to spend more time out and travel to places more bike friendly... Then I can see possibly adding a transportable bike of some kind.. But one can still be all you need.
Cmon, you took the opportunity to make this a giant commercial about all kinds of shit. Just do the review, you can mention some things along the way…how annoying. I couldn’t watch any more.

Thanks for the hands on experience, your summary almost rivals ours, haha.
i love my gravel
Would you recommend as a daily commuter bike? For 15/20 mile distance.
@@DefenseMyGuydo you use in streets or trails
@@boso1998 Yes if that's roundtrip distance and not too many hills on your commute.
Wow man, this was the most informative video I could have imagined and so well made. So impressed, helped cement my decision immensely.
Glad it was helpful!

What app are you using on your phone for speedometer?
Just a generic "Speedometer" from the iOS app store.
