guys I'm not trying to tear down ryan reynolds just because he's popular!! I think he's fine!! i'm trying to accurately and objectively summarize recent internet discourse!! that's my whole thing!! watch the whole video before you freak out lmao I was very fair!! EDIT: okay update im changing the title because people are getting mad about it without actually watching lmao
girl you better lock your doors cause i did not know ryan reynolds had stans like this. maybe we're just on the same side of the internet cause i've been seeing lots of discoursing on him and his wife
it does feels a little click baity, like of course is because his movie is being talk about right now so its like, lets look for 6 tweets that hate on him and make a how the internet fell out of love about him, and like not really is not the internet, again is like, 6 twitter users jsjsjsjs
Internet understand the difference between “why the internet fell out of love with Ryan Reynolds” and “why YOU, PERSONALLY, should HATE Ryan Reynolds, I am preaching to you” challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
People don’t seem to understand that they can not enjoy a movie without pretending like it’s “problematic” or whatever. We don’t need to pretend like Deadpool is an affront to cinema in order to justify not liking something. You can just dislike it and go on with your life without being preachy about it
This. "It's just not what I personally want from a movie" is valid. And liking a movie that is bad is perfectly fine, too. "Oh yeah it was poorly done but I like it" shouldn't result in dog piling by film bros who dream of being the next Hitchcock
@@WhySoSeriouz I did. This comment is not about this video specifically, but about a wider issue I keep seeing online (and offline too tbh) where people feel the need to moralize their preferences in a way that’s not constructive to any sort of discurse and only serves to put people down for their media consumption. If they don’t like something, they’re allowed not to like it. They don’t need to pretend like it’s “problematic” just because it didn’t appeal to them. There’s countless movies that I don’t like and I know it’s just because they didn’t appeal to my sensitivities, which doesn’t make them bad movies, it just means they’re not for me. Not everything is for everyone, and that’s fine. That was my point, it wasn’t a dig at Kayla or her video. Because her video is not really a review either
i really dont like this type of arguments because they're generally used to disregard someone's reasons for not liking a movie. i personally thought this one was dogshit because it represents everything marvel is doing now! just cameo after cameo and gimmick after gimmick. no reason, no heart. just stupid crossovers forever and ever. i don't think anybody doesnt like it because its problematic or whatever lmaooo, at least all the arguments i've seen against it parallel what i just said and thats a pretty valid reason to not like it lol
I think Deadpool x Wolverine wasn't only a cash grab, but also an opportunity for two guys who really wanted to work together with these characters who meant a lot for their careers and had a special connection to their personal relationship. It felt like a real passion project, but they just got lucky with the timing and also had the funding. Maybe I'm just not as jaded as the rest of Twitter, but I also take his roasting of Green Lantern as more of an old joke. It feels like he makes those jokes because he's used to making them, not because of any real malice. I think it also matters in the context of the interview, since some are more silly and others are more sentimental. I believe that was a more sarcastic/jokey one.
Yeah I watched the interview the tweet was referring to, and both hugh and ryan were laughing about it and seemed to treat that statement in good fun, rather than like a genuine dislike for that film. and if the movie were truly a cash grab, i honestly think the cameos and references would not have been as well integrated into the movie. I think 2 things can be true: they thought this movie would be coming out at the best time and that they really wanted to make this movie work bc they wanted it to for themselves and for the fans. In all the interviews I saw, they seemed to be genuinely invested in doing right by the characters.
Yeah, Deadpool and Wolverine feels like a homage (and farewell) to the Fox era of superhero movies, and given the history of Ryan Reynolds with the character, you can really feel that this movie was made with heart and passion.
I don’t hate him but he plays the same quippy character in everything and for me it’s so old and it’s starting to get annoying. And I think it’s Netflix’s fault.
The overly quippy persona also seems to be a trait of his outside of movies and promos and it's a little nauseating. In interviews he really seems to lean into it, but even in his Welcome to Wrexham documentary. When I see him sitting in an interview, he has a demeanour and posture as if he is sniping out any opportunity to release some dry witty humour. Edit: A comedian about Jimmy Fallon said, paraphrasing, "he is a professional napkin. he murders his identity every time he speaks". I think that applies to Ryan too, at least when in front of the cameras.
@@drystkrab269 Yeah, I think he falls into that The Rock and Kevin Hart category. He's just playing himself now. Don't get me wrong; I will still watch his movies, unlike the other two. I just learned that it will be the same character, just in a different location (universe), tragic backstory, yadda yadda yadda, and revenge with a side of wit.
His Van Wilder and Clerks days would like to have a word with you. Who knows whether he has actual acting chops, but Hollywood has certainly shoehorned him into a specific role and Ryan must have thought he could either fight it or roll with it. Rolling with it certain pays better imo.
@@CaulkMongler I get why he keeps doing the same thing people like it and it’s dependable. I’ve seen his old movies and I enjoyed them quite a bit. But that doesn’t change me feeling like it’s oversaturated and being sick of it. I wish him well but like I said me personally, I can only watch someone play this kind of character so many times before I get tired of it.
I didn't know there were people out there that don't like ryan Reynolds. So I was surprised there but here's the thing about him. Ryan Reynolds is really a one trick pony but he does it very well. He isn't someone like Leo or daniel day lous where they let the character embody them vs ryan he's just playing himself under that characters name which there's nothing wrong with that.
I think people, myself included, dislike how much of a try hard Reynolds is. He tries too hard to be funny that it makes him actively less funny and just sort of annoying. It’s like he saw deadpool 1 be successful and said “what if that was my entire personality”. He legit made his twitter bio “I show the parts of myself that tested the best in a focus group” and honestly don’t think that’s a joke.
@@miss_bougie6653I agree. I blame my autism for being unable to find him funny. It’s like, just too obvious what he’s trying to do and it makes it so cringe. Also I just don’t find SA jokes….funny?
@@miss_bougie6653When people say "Deadpool IS Ryan Reynolds" they mean it literally. The Wolverine origins movie was made during the 2008 writer's strike; his script literally had 'lines' like "Wade says something funny" in it. He's a huge fan of the comics (which literally referenced him in it, long before he took on the mantle) and was in the writers room for ALL of the Deadpool movies. His personal innate style of humour isn't 'copying' the character; it's been completely interwoven with movie-Deadpool since literally day 1.
Just taking a moment to mention that Ryan Reynolds has helped raise millions of dollars for the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, which is essentially THE children's hospital in the country. My niece had a heart transplant there at 5 months old, likely in a wing that was partially paid for through his fundraising efforts and donations. I'm not discounting the Dwayne Johnsonification of his career, but that man will always be a hero to me in some ways. Amazing video as always Kayla!! ❤
@@asmrtpop2676 the bare minimum lol, you act like everyone uses their wealth to help others but in reality it’s quite rare which is why when wealthy people do it it’s taken like such a deal, he has a good heart and one mistake won’t define his whole life or define what his good actions come from
Saying this movie "defiles" Logan's legacy feels uncharitable, the movie never undermines the legacy of Logan and pretty much respects it. The Plot was not the greatest I agree, but it did everything a Deadpool movie can be great. I don't even think its that much of a cashgrab when Hugh Jackman was the one that wanted to return.
This is one part of the video that I really disagreed with. Both everyone involved with the movie AND THE MOVIE ITSELF talks about wanting to respect the history and legacy of Logan. That's the main reason they used the multiverse angle! Hugh Jackman literally called and asked to be involved, even though he'd already "hung up the claws". That doesn't sound anything like a "cash grab" to me.
This situation is one of the reasons I think it's silly for people to be so against having a head canon. I don't know how people manage in a situation where one movie actually does mess with the story another. Do they just accept that! A mfer like will just ignore it completely.
It was fun to watch them having so much fun. I had a really good hour and a half (or however long it was). I wasn’t asking for anything taxing, just to check out and have a laugh. The film gave me a much-needed circuit-breaker, so even though it had its choppy bits as a film, it gave me what I wanted as entertainment.
Honestly I thought that it was pretty disappointing as a fan of Logan. I really love Marvel when they are darker and more macabre. I feel like people are using the fact Deadpool is supposed to be goofy as an excuse to make a shitty plot tbh. The entire idea of an “anchor being” just kinda feels like it didn’t land. Like your telling me every multiverse for some reason has ONE guy that is true lifeline of that universe, and everyone else ceases to exist if that person dies or leaves, idk it just felt stupid to me but that’s just my opinion. I also thought the main villain of the movie was really lame. Idk the writing just felt basic and painfully digestible to a large audience and I was really hoping for more Wolverine lore but it’s alright we get fan service and a movie who’s humor and writing feels like it was made to be as digestible to the masses as possible for maximizing profit.
Deadpool & Wolverine earned $205 million in its opening weekend, and globally it brought in $438.3 million, making it the largest R-rated global box office opening ever. So, Ryan Reynolds is doing good and people treat him like he'd single-handedly saved this year's MCU offerings. The only twitter hate I've seen is the folk that thought the movie was too "gay" and "woke".
Yeah, I was like "Wtf are you talking about?" when she was talking about the movie reception. It has been glowing everywhere else I've been looking. Also a 79% Critic- and 96% audience score on Rottentomatoes means the film was received pretty damn well dispite my own feelings on it.
By far the worst issue with Deadpool 3 is centring Deadpool's motivations to be a hero on getting his gf back, but she's so underwritten I find it hard to believe she could possibly be that important to him
While making jokes about his RL wife. The motivation falls flat and I don’t care at all but it is fun. Just make it looney tunes and stop trying to make me care.
Deadpool / Wade breaks up with Vanessa in the beginning of the movie and Vanessa has a new boyfriend so the whole saving her in Deadpool 2 by time travelling with time travel machine is so pointless.
@@margarethmichelina5146 It didn't really make sense for them to break up when they were planning on having children, yeah, but saying the problem is reviving the person he loves the most and whose death he was extremely traumatised by is pointless just cause she wouldn't date him after is too weird, man. Especially considering they revived many pointless characters. Just for funsies 💀. I get it may seem like it erased some growth, but it's still not the main problem at all. If deadpool could he would revive her no matter what :u
They should've kept her more true to the comics: a runaway teenager who sells her body and is also a shape shifting mutant. The film version is only a third of that, and has less than a third of her comic counterpart's characterization
Aside from the plantation wedding, all of these other reasons just seem like things people on twitter with nothing else to do and two braincells have to complain about.
@@Ninimo13 yeah it’s really not all that serious but I do think seeing him play the same character all the time is a little annoying. That doesn’t say anything about his character as a person but it’s just a little tired to me. And if that means I have two brain cells so be it.
@@Thatonegirl989That part. I've been bored of him and people being obsessed with him for literally over a decade. Lol idgaf about a stranger's assumptions about my braincells, especially gleaned from online pop culture/movie opinions.
My friend and I have a joke, that Ryan Reynolds can only ever play one character, himself. His natural charisma and wit made him perfect for Deadpool. - I admire actors who can star in a film and, regardless of what the character description says, just be themselves. That's when you reached the peak.
I always really wonder how stuff like that happens. Are the people who own the land advertising it as a wedding venue for some reason or do couples like Reynold’s just see it and think “ah yes, let’s get married in this area well known for human rights violations”
@bexs9400 My wife and I are both black, and I can tell you that yes, we have literally been approached by plantation owners asking if we'd like to have our wedding there. Plenty of plantation owners don't seem to really understand the negative stigma of having a wedding (or any event for that matter) at a plantation.
@@chidorisnake22 that's so heinous wtf I'm a southerner and I agree the owners of the plantations either don't understand or refuse to understand why people (especially black people) would rather kiss a spider than get married on plantation property.
I think people are also irritated with him and his wife rn because they are promoting it ends with us like it's a rom-com when in reality it's about DV
Regarding their wedding, I don't know how two adult Americans (and a Canadian, which I just learned) saw the pictures on Pinterest of that venue and didn't think about slavery plantations or whatever it's called when I, a person from all across the world, who's never been in the US, saw that big manor with a lot of land and those trees with wide branches and immediately thought, "hmm this reminds me of all the movies about slavery I saw." Like at some point while negotiating the venue, the past must have come up. I just think that's impossible to miss
@@jessicahitchens6926 yeah, I know, but I mean, they must have known this would come out eventually, right? What was their plan? To say "we didn't know about racism"? I don't get it
@@tamaraaa993no honestly it’s such a bad defence statement, like they pretty much asked for it.and also it doesn’t sound sincere, how can you not know of it’s history when you decide to reserve the venue? I’m certain when they asked to book there ‘s definitely someone who would’ve told them about what that place is and what’s the story about it … like Ryan’s smart there’s no chance he wouldn’t asked.
I honestly don’t give a shit if Ryan makes fun of Green Lantern. So many other actors have been in movies they hate, that some definitely love. Plus, it’s like a running bit for him, talking about his lows. I don’t think it’s been overdone yet. With that being said, I do get how reviving Logan is pretty disappointing to see.
I loved logan too and didn't get wolverine coming back as diminishing it 🤷🏾♀️ they were pretty repetitive about the fact that he wasnt that wolverine from logan and it was a REALLY OBVIOUS JOKE IN THE VERY BEGINNING that LOGAN IS STILL DEAD 🤣. To me it was the Best Deadpool 🤷🏾♀️
I feel like people who don’t understand comics are the ones who are upset about Wolverine coming back after such good death as Logan was. In comic books Folks die horrific or beautiful deaths and come back all the time. It’s legit apart of genre! So cash grab or not… it’s comics! It’s what makes comics my favorite medium… no one is ever truly gone. Death in real life sucks… I’m ok with my fiction make death non-permanent. I say all that to say DP is my favorite character of all time and I love that Ryan made it his business to give us DP as authentically as he could. Also, Ryan has always been a smart alecky asshole even before he ever played DP. It’s just who he is! Winter Soldier is my fav super hero movie. I think that’s just a good movie, even if you remove the superhero aspect!
Idk Ryan Reynolds admits to playing different versions of himself and I appreciate that. But I had no idea about their wedding theme, done in poor taste but him and his production company have created work for thousands of tv/film workers over the past 6 years so I’ll give him a pass. I do find it jarring to realize how wealthy he actually is.
I definitely agree that Ryan Reynolds is a one trick pony and really only plays himself, but the way ppl on twt (social media in general tbh) find someone mildly annoying and then begin to rip into them for everything they’ve ever done or said is so tiring atp. I get finding him a bit annoying, but ppl can never not like someone and leave it, they always have to drone on about how much they hate them and how they were never talented and blah blah blah. I wish ppl could just dislike things without making it a big deal. It’s rlly as simple as “I personally don’t like him and find him annoying.”

I don't hate him necessarily but he does rub me the wrong way at times but mostly I find him a waste. He has so much money and influence why not invest it into smaller indie projects or support up-and-coming artists? It seems like such a waste.
I feel like people kind of have started to turn on Bradley cooper after the whole Oscar bait movie thing that’s happened this year (though i doubt that will last long and people will probably move on from when he comes out with a new movie). As for Ryan gosling he hasn’t really ventured outside of acting (in terms of like business and what-not like reynolds), and given he’s known for actually being good at acting like Bradley cooper i doubt much will happen on that front (also i know you were joking but it just made me think about whether it would actually happen)
@@frances1227 you are correct in that I have no beef with Ken Gosling and Associates but IF Gen Z was able to find something on her, I’d be like “That’s fair. They got Reynolds so I guess they’ll get him too.”
Ryan Gosling's amazing! His dedication to really immersing himself in a character is astounding. I love how he disappears into his roles and I really hope film twt doesn't turn on him😭😭, He's had so many good roles!
People shitting on the movie? It’s got a 95% audience score on RT, just crossed the billion mark, and will be the highest grossing R Rated movie of all time in like two days. Twitter is not the real world.
I mostly see people complaining about him playing himself as if they don't realize the reason he gets casted is because he matches those characters, those roles are tailor made for him so even if he is being typecasted if it makes money it works and Deadpool is there to show that people enjoy watching Ryan playing himself, so why would he or anyone else want to change it?
Hes honestly always been like this. He first got on the scene with van wilder blade trinity, and waiting. The sarcasm and dickish personality is what got ppl interested in him being deadpool in the first place. Then when the first one actually came.out it was a match made in heaven. Like rdj and ironman.
Kayla says it best ;) Really, I think you captured it best: Its likely not even Reynolds himself, but the epitome of a the social critique he embodies: It’s no longer subtle - money is one thing, as is career, power, fame - understandable…and yet, for many, its hard to overtook or continue to tolerate let alone celebrate and desire the lack of heart and overt hollow monetization of it all At least if things felt genuine, sincere, inspiring, or full of effort and ambition in the best sense, perhaps we would interpret films and actors differently again. They have lost that essence in their drive for productions at the cheapest price, heightened consumerism to a ridiculous degree, and supposed mass appeal instead of pursuing Art and the ideals that uplift or entrance the audience Hollywood in its current form, as with most things in present society, appear shallow, empty, and feels gross
YOU said it best too! Thank you for putting into words, what I've been feeling about Hollywood for a Long time. ** •Hollowood• ** This movie's success actually doesn't confirm its quality or true worth. It speaks volumes about the lack of quality running rampant in society, since people are capable of 'enjoying' the grotesque forms of entertainment Hollowood pumps out on the regular now. Hopefully a revival of quality cinema will come along before I perish, because I'm a hopeful romantic like that. There are still delightful show series, sprinkled throughout Netflix every so often! Grateful for that!
I think Disney has definitely been getting lazy with Marvel and their animated films and live action remakes. But he genuinely loves Deadpool. Playing Deadpool. And Hugh Jackman has stated he very much wanted to act with Ryan Reynolds as Wolverine. Hugh Jackman absolutely could’ve turned it down if he did not want this. Frankly I really liked the movie. I was constantly laughing and gasping and going “Ooh ooh!!! Omg!” I think it’s the best Marvel movie to come out in years. It delivered exactly what I wanted with the Easter eggs, fight scenes, stupid jokes and all that. The soundtrack also delighted me. With the introduction of the Multiverse, I think if there’s people who want to tell these stories-let them tell it if they really have passion for it! Everyone on screen seemed to be having fun. I’m so tired of these safe boring lackluster Marvel movies and movies in general. I think right now I’m happy to see a Rated R movie in Disney do good so maybe we can get less held back sanitized comic book movies. Multiverse of Madness should’ve gone darker and scarier and it would’ve been incredible! I feel this is a step in the right direction compared to The Marvels which had passion but clearly some terrible writing and deadlines that ended up leaving it kind of a mess.
What's frustrating to me is that it's not even that Hugh Jackman "could have turned it down", it's that Hugh Jackman LITERALLY CALLED RYAN and was like "I know I retired but please let Wolverine be in the Deadpool movie you're writing". Everyone involved AND THE MOVIE ITSELF was super clear about this being a different Wolverine, because they wanted to honour Logan and the long history of that character (at Fox). The credits actually has a very lovely collection of behind-the-scenes clips from that era. It's the least "cash-grab" situation that could possibly exist.
I agree with you! I genuinely enjoyed the movie so much! (way more than I thought I would!!) I have sm respect for the amount of passion Ryan clearly has had for this character for so long. (Even though I'm more indifferent to him lol). But yeah definitely one of my top movies of the year :D

Something that annoys me about Deadpool’s writing is how his sexuality is represented by marvel. Deadpool is pansexual, he’s attracted to ANYTHING tbh but I feel like his “gay side” is almost always shown as a joke. It’s always him making some man uncomfortable with some random sexual joke and the crux of the joke is “haha Deadpool made this guy angry and uncomfortable with his situational homosexuality” I don’t mind this humor tbh I even partake in it myself but it feels overdone and I wish they would also elaborate on a more serious side of his gayness but since it’s marvel there probably just gonna keep his gayness as an annoying joke since there movies are made to be as digestible for the masses to maximize profit possible 💀 This movies plot also felt very redundant and the villain in this movie was so forgettable like idk the main focus of the movie was obviously DP and W, but the lack of complexity on the literal antagonists of the movie just took away from it for me. I also felt the science fiction plot of being an “anchor being” in a multiverse was kinda stupid 🤷♂️ but it’s 🆗
Lol even in the comments there’s people like “DO WE HATE HIM?” So honestly no, I don’t think a lot of people hate him hahaha I think is only some weirdos or edgys who say that shit in twitter
I feel like you hit the nail on the head about the Deadpool trilogy starting in like different era of culture/superhero films, the pre-Endgame era. I also think the addition of Wolverine was just a bad idea considering the note they left Hugh Jackman's version of the character on. I don't wanna say RR shouldn't play Deadpool because I think he does it well, but also they need to change the character to meet the new film climate.
Nah, I don't know what you are talking about, the movie was fun and that is all it was supposed to be, so they did a good job. No need to overthink it.
It's interesting there's no mention of his role in Blade Trinity. He said even back then, he modeled his acting in the role on Deadpool. The comics even called Deadpool Ryan Reynolds.

The internet isn't out of love with Ryan Reynolds. If Deadpool and Wolverine proved anything, it was that Ryan still makes good movies and ultimately helps a lot of people. Most of this tends to go ignored with other celebrities, but Reynolds is given so much praise by directors, actors, and other legitimate philantropists that it's hard to bury it under envious critisism. In fact, I've seen more videos of Ryan than I ever have before since the film came out, the guy knows how to advertise and he knows how to engage in good press.
Hi Kayla! I just wanted to say that your videos are some of my favorite to watch on this platform. It is very apparent that you put in a lot of thought and effort to your work so just leaving this here to show my appreciation as a viewer who is subscribed, likes your videos and now commenting :]
You can not vibe with Ryan Reynolds or Deadpool, maybe don't share his sense of humor, but Ryan has clear acting and filmmaking talent. He's also just a charismatic person but he is not perfect or without flaws. There's no way you can get to his level of fame and not have haters, and I feel like some people will always want to go against popular opinion
I didn't realize people were hating on Deadpool & Wolverine or Ryan Reynolds... then again I don't use Twitter and the only video I've watched about the movie was RedLetterMedia's review. 😅
Man ik it’s your thing but you really are so quick with everything I just saw a tweet a few hours ago about someone talking about this and it was so new to me
I don’t hate him, I’ve enjoyed the Deadpool movies and love his performance in Buried but I’ve gotten tired of him playing the same character in every other thing.
I know it's not the most popular but my fave superhero movie is Thor Ragnarok. I just really love it. I know people hate the silly more comedic and light hearted Marvel movies and want the sad brooding dramatic movies and media and stuff I don't care. I like how fun it is, i like the comedy and if you are putting Jeff Goldblum and Cate Blanchett in stuff it's gonna be great so yes Thor Ragnarok is my fave I just really love it. It always brings me joy when I watch it.
I loved that movie too. I think people are tired of the lighthearted silly super hero movies because too many are being made like that nowadays. People want something different.
I like the movie, but I also find the tone of it so... weird considering the subject matter. It should have allowed it's serious moments to actually breathe
I think the people hating on Ryan Reynolds are just the people who are outside the actual conversation and just trying to drive-by hate. With the issue being whether this multiverse business is even movies anymore or if it is just a perpetual machine of brand reinforcement held together by poorly connected but entertaining sketches or epic scenes and the particular joy of reaffirming people wasting years of their lives watching peripheral content that is often mediocre or bad but allows them to appreciate the "cinematic universe experience"
I think you accidentally just explained exactly why people who you deem to be “outside the actual conversation” are hating on Reynolds. He’s like a metaphor for the hyper-commercialisation of cinema, we were on our way out of that decade long schlog even made the Rock irrelevant 😭 But whatever there’ll always be good cinema out there we just have to look for it more now.
YESSS!!! as a film, it’s not perfect, but as a harley quinn film, it’s everything I wanted. I’m a huge fan of her and it felt like I was watching a new 52 harley comic on the big screen. it’s clear that it was made with a lot of love for the source material
@K.C-2049 damn you clocked me for that one 😭 you’re absolutely right tho. I feel the need to say that every time I talk about the film, as if I need to justify it when I really shouldn’t have to
@K.C-2049 you make valid points there is a lot of misogynistic hate towards superhero movies starring women but we can't ignore the valid criticisms that Birds Of Prey has like the ableism taking a team that was created by a disabled woman (Barbara Gordon) in order to reclaim power in her life and prove that being disabled didn't mean she couldn't be a badass and give to an able-bodied woman who already had her own team (The Gotham Sirens) and then erasing Cassandra Cain's disability and changing her entire backstory + character just to reduce her to a Harley Quinn fangirl is super gross especially considering that Babs and Cass's mentor-mentee relationship was was considered groundbreaking because it was rare to see a prominent relationship like this between two disabled women
Sameses. Birds of Prey rules and stupid COVID and the internet ruined the fun for everyone. Also not sure if this one even counts but The People’s Joker came out last year and it’s amazing.
I was kind of hoping this video would mention Joi Harris. She died in 2017 during the filming of Deadpool 2 performing a stunt that the producers, including Reynolds, were advised not to do. When someone has asked me about the Deadpool films since, I've always told them that I happened not to see the first and then decided to never watch any of them after that happened. And you know what? Everyone has told me they never even heard of this. It happened, it made news at the time, updates on the subsequent lawsuit made headlines in years since too, and the film and its producers never received a stain on their careers because presumably whatever fans had heard of this decided at the time it wasn't worth sharing because they would still rather see the movie. That's why I hate Ryan Reynolds. His name puts a bad taste in my mouth.
Honestly I'm glad you made this video. I thought I've been seeing more backlash for Ryan Reynolds lately and to be honest I was pretty confused on the matter. It seemed one second someone would rave how he can make no mistakes to quickly to another person saying that Ryan Reynolds is nothing but a basic white boy and needs to shut up. I personally don't care and thought the new Deadpool movie was fun but there were definite some flaws in it. Also, The Batman honestly needs to be recognized more as a good Batman movie.
I think there was heart in the movie, Deadpool opening up about his relationship to Wolverine. Wolverine opening up to....don't want to spoil it. But it could have gone a little deeper. I kinda wanted a flashback to what happened to Wolverine in his timeline like they did with Miguel in the Spiderverse movie. Other than that movie was solid
there’s an always sunny fandom in-joke where rob mcelhenney is ‘cheating’ on glenn howerton (his good friend and sunny costar) with ryan reynolds and bearing in mind how beloved and active glenn is within the fandom it’s easy to see why there’s a distaste towards him
It actually almost destroyed his career, actually. Green lantern, that is. In the movie news and critics behind the scenes, people thought he could not be a successful male lead.
The only hate I remember seeing was that he was really thirsty for a Golden Globe after Deadpool came out. Like open letters and gifts, which everyone does, but people were surprised he went all in for that movie.
People can just NOT see his movies and move on. I like that he's used a large part of his millions to help others through charity and that he didn't screw over the community whose football team he purchased. But I don't particularly like his acting, however I don't see the point of investing emotionally in hating his movies.
In my opinion he has always acted like this even before Deadpool. I remember watching him in just friends (2005) and he was playing the same character back then
I get why people dislike someone after over-exposure to them but I also kind of just don’t. If you don’t like how much and actor is appearing in stuff, just don’t watch everything they’re in. I despise Dwayne Johnson. And I’m sure you will touch on this in your video, but he had a huge overexposure over the last decade until Black Adam didn’t work out the way he wanted. But his overexposure isn’t why I dislike him. Whenever I saw a movie was coming out with Johnson starring, I thought, “this clearly isn’t for me” and just didn’t watch it.
I’ve always wondered that too, if i dont like a particular person or maybe their acting just isn’t for me then i don’t watch it, even if they keep popping up everywhere on the internet. Over-exposure is such a silly reason to dislike (to the point of hating) a person when you ultimately have control over what you choose to watch. There are plenty of reasons people might dislike an actor (like you mention with Dwayne Johnson), most of them are valid too but over-exposure is just a silly reason
It’s more how it’s shoved down your throat and everywhere you look you know the dreaded algorithm, that adds to the frustration and makes it feel inescapable lol
I can see the exhaustion. But it’s weird to blame Ryan for bad movies. Actors can’t always predict how a film gets directed, edited, released or received. He put work on those films and someone else dropped the ball. Ryan did what he does well and performed like he was supposed to
Ryan Reynolds a polarizing actor?! This is just weird! Where is he polarizing? In your weird side of the internet? If he was that hated then his movie wouldn’t be the smash hit it is because nobody would watch it
Tbh, Ryan is such a great man and he’s very nice. I know this because i met him way back in 2018. He was in Rome alongside Josh Brolin (Cable) to promote the second Deadpool film. They made a stop at the Foro Italico to be guests at the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars and they had the time to talk to everybody and they were super friendly.
I’ve watched up to the 9 minute mark (I have tickets to see D&W this weekend and want no spoilers). As a “film bro” I don’t think Ryan Reynolds is as much the problem as the industry itself. Like if it weren’t for him, Deadpool wouldn’t have even been made because Fox was certain it “wouldn’t work”. Then when it did work, Ryan was basically given the producer’s infinity card and every project he wanted made got made with him as the lead. Like, I think it’d be awesome to see actors play a role and not get pigeonholed into that one role and at the same time I think it’d be really awesome if Hollywood execs wouldn’t dictate art on profitability and seclude funding and opportunity to A-list actors because of one successful project. But hey, that’s just C a P i T a L i S m.
I feel like this video was ahead of its time and now deserves a follow up with the it ends with us drama coming out and it seeming like this marired couple hijacked the production from the director and star and used their star power and status to manipulate the author and basically turn the crew against him. Unfortunately for Lively the franchise doesn't really work well if you have to recast the main guy just because of her ego.
I’m not completely done with the video at this point (about 10min in) but I just wanted to bring up that this wasn’t just a cash grab, Hugh and Ryan genuinely wanted to work together and Hugh says it’s been so since he saw the first Deadpool movie. Also the end of the movie bts montage was genuinely touching and respectful to those who grew up with the X-men movie franchise.
Him slowly losing favour of the public eye is similar to Chris Pratt. This golden-retriever persona that is loved at first, but then gets annoying or feels 'insincere' over time. Especially if it feels like the buddy-buddy personality feels hammed up for movie marketing more than anything genuine. Especially when a lot of his film roles is mostly him playing himself.
I went to that plantation. I went in Elementary school for a school field trip (Yes I am from SC). HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW IT IS A PLANTATION?! Like it is very obviously one.
People aren’t hating Ryan they’re hating his wife which reflected badly on him now people are nitpicking the smallest details (expect the plantation that’s just messed up) and throwing rocks at his window and but the rocks are hitting Blake instead the internet didn’t fall out of love with him his haters now have the spotlight to speak and it’s been broadcasted widely now he’s still well loved by so many others no one fell out of love with him. And the movie wasn’t a cash grab it was for Hugh he wanted to make a comeback so the movie was for him.
thank you for the video, Kayla! i was dumbfounded when i read the title as i’ve never encountered a person in my surroundings and generally on the internet who hated Ryan Reynolds. i feel like people are too picky with the content (idk why, we live in the era of TV where Deadpool and Wolverine is the only good movie this year and Madam Web exists) and try to cancel everyone for minor reason or no reason at all. as it is mentioned in the video, as a white person, it is not my place to forgive Ryan for anything and seems like him and Black learned their lesson and generally it seems like honest mistake on there side. other than that, i’m a huge fan of x-men series and i love Deadpool 3 more than previous two. it’s fun, genuine, made with love. seems like everyone on the screen really wanted to be there and it shows. would love to see more of that but doubt they will be able to pull it.

People on twitter will always have something to complain about if you look hard enough. I think it's the title that feels a bit click-baity.
it does feels a little click baity, like of course is because his movie is being talk about right now so its like, lets look for 6 tweets that hate on him and make a how the internet fell out of love about him, and like not really is not the internet, again is like, 6 twitter users jsjsjsjs
Internet understand the difference between “why the internet fell out of love with Ryan Reynolds” and “why YOU, PERSONALLY, should HATE Ryan Reynolds, I am preaching to you” challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
@@jjcelever I don’t think the internet does actually.. Especially judging by the comments here
People don’t seem to understand that they can not enjoy a movie without pretending like it’s “problematic” or whatever.
The internet is where molehills go to become mountains on a daily basis.
Did you watch the video lol
I believe that was a more sarcastic/jokey one.
oh my god I totally forgot aren't they like best friends or something? with jake gyllenhaal too?
@honoluluw yeah they seem to be genuinely very close
Yeah I watched the interview the tweet was referring to, and both hugh and ryan were laughing about it and seemed to treat that statement in good fun, rather than like a genuine dislike for that film. and if the movie were truly a cash grab, i honestly think the cameos and references would not have been as well integrated into the movie. I think 2 things can be true: they thought this movie would be coming out at the best time and that they really wanted to make this movie work bc they wanted it to for themselves and for the fans. In all the interviews I saw, they seemed to be genuinely invested in doing right by the characters.
@BigBeatlesFan121 yes exactly. That's why I think to say it's only a cash grab misses the bigger picture.
THANK YOU!!! He's just annoying as a character. I am sick of his Mint mobile ads too. He's not funny, and not cute.
I have the same problem with Will Ferrell, I love a lot of his movies but he's the same guy in all of them 😂
I think people, myself included, dislike how much of a try hard Reynolds is.

Yea conservatives hate that Deadpool is offensively foul mouthed to them but otherwise and pretty left learning person.
Deadpool canonically will fuck anything that consents of any, multi, or no gender. It SHOULD be a lot queerer!

If deadpool could he would revive her no matter what :u
Agreed my friends and i are praying he gets a new love interest in the next film preferably an interesting one i honestly thought she died
They should've kept her more true to the comics: a runaway teenager who sells her body and is also a shape shifting mutant. The film version is only a third of that, and has less than a third of her comic counterpart's characterization

Don’t hate him.. but I do find his humour kind of annoying
Personally I never liked him as I don't find him particularly funny.
I don't hate him necessarily but he does rub me the wrong way at times but mostly I find him a waste. He has so much money and influence why not invest it into smaller indie projects or support up-and-coming artists? It seems like such a waste.
If Ryan Reynolds can fall, watch them turn on Bradley Cooper.
You better start running, Ryan Gosling. You’ve had it good for too long also lol
Kayla already did a video on Bradley Cooper, because of his film Maestro that didn't take home any major awards.
@@jennyrodriguez811 whoops it already happening lol

@@chelmrtz that hairstyle had ya huh? 😭😂
@@chelmrtzI will say tho seeing him fight Triple H was probably the best scene in the movie lol

Really, I think you captured it best: Its likely not even Reynolds himself, but the epitome of a the social critique he embodies: It’s no longer subtle - money is one thing, as is career, power, fame - understandable…and yet, for many, its hard to overtook or continue to tolerate let alone celebrate and desire the lack of heart and overt hollow monetization of it all
At least if things felt genuine, sincere, inspiring, or full of effort and ambition in the best sense, perhaps we would interpret films and actors differently again. They have lost that essence in their drive for productions at the cheapest price, heightened consumerism to a ridiculous degree, and supposed mass appeal instead of pursuing Art and the ideals that uplift or entrance the audience
Hollywood in its current form, as with most things in present society, appear shallow, empty, and feels gross
YOU said it best too! Thank you for putting into words, what I've been feeling about Hollywood for a Long time.
** •Hollowood• **
This movie's success actually doesn't confirm its quality or true worth.
Are you sure? I am chronically online and this title is news to me
Because it’s not true
Yeah it’s a clickbait title. Disappointed with Kayla on this one.

Also, _Green Lantern_ was SHIT! No wonder he hated it.
Deadpool and Wolverine had 10 min at the start with a cringe scene and some weird out of character behavior that was meh ...
But then the TVA showed up and loved the rest 😉 You'll have a great time.
He plays the same character in every single movie. Ryan Gosling at least has shown range. From Murder by Numbers , to Ken
Nobody likes film twitter except for film twitter. I'm not a fan of most ryan reynolds movie but I do love seeing film twitter melt down over blockbuster hits

Something that annoys me about Deadpool’s writing is how his sexuality is represented by marvel. Deadpool is pansexual, he’s attracted to ANYTHING tbh but I feel like his “gay side” is almost always shown as a joke. It’s always him making some man uncomfortable with some random sexual joke and the crux of the joke is “haha Deadpool made this guy angry and uncomfortable with his situational homosexuality”
I don’t mind this humor tbh I even partake in it myself but it feels overdone and I wish they would also elaborate on a more serious side of his gayness but since it’s marvel there probably just gonna keep his gayness as an annoying joke since there movies are made to be as digestible for the masses to maximize profit possible 💀
This movies plot also felt very redundant and the villain in this movie was so forgettable like idk the main focus of the movie was obviously DP and W, but the lack of complexity on the literal antagonists of the movie just took away from it for me.

It wasn’t a bad idea what are you on it’s not the same Wolverine
Nah, I don't know what you are talking about, the movie was fun and that is all it was supposed to be, so they did a good job. No need to overthink it.
It's interesting there's no mention of his role in Blade Trinity. He said even back then, he modeled his acting in the role on Deadpool. The comics even called Deadpool Ryan Reynolds.

I don't hate him, but I lost a lot of respect for him after he sold Mint Mobile. A lot of people liked the small business aspect of it, and he betrayed that trust for $1B. He's a ruthless venture capitalist.
This and the plantation are the actual important points here. There are no good billionaires.
His wife could definitely use a lesson in how to advertise!

None of these celebrities care about us outsiders. When it comes down to it, they think we are not on their level.
I didn't realize people were hating on Deadpool & Wolverine or Ryan Reynolds... then again I don't use Twitter and the only video I've watched about the movie was RedLetterMedia's review. 😅
Thank you for pointing out that the Deadpool movie was not very good. The first two movies were genuine.

Anybody bitching excessively about a movie that is basically a payoff action movie is on some hipster shit.
Lmao are u the braindead audience that marvel has been trying to cater to?? 😂
I hate that after that godawful L&T, people turned on Ragnarok as well, even that one is actually good.
If we don't count animated superhero movies, my favorite is Birds of Prey. Everything I could asked for.
YESSS!!! as a film, it’s not perfect, but as a harley quinn film, it’s everything I wanted.
And it works because Margot Robbie has roles outside of it that show her range. Her Harley is edgy and funny, but that's not everything about her
Sameses. Birds of Prey rules and stupid COVID and the internet ruined the fun for everyone. Also not sure if this one even counts but The People’s Joker came out last year and it’s amazing.
Deadpool in and out of drag is the perfect analogy of why he annoys me lol
Poor Brian. Blew his "Somehow, Palpatine has returned" ahead of the video about RDJ returning to the MCU.
Ryan Reynolds is honestly a nice guy but you're right, he mostly playing as himself most of the time in any movies he's in.
To be fair, he just seems to be interested in money and himself these days.
Deadpool & Wolverine box office world wide is over $1 BILLION . No, people are not tired or jaded or tired of Ryan Reynolds.
Deadpool & Wolverine was a delight, Ryan Reynolds is good at what he does, he seems like a nice enough dude, celebrity culture is exhausting.
The first Deadpool movie will always have a place in my lore (saw it in theaters after sm0king w33d for the firs time ever)
Damn. Must’ve been a good time lmao
I like your pearl pfp
Did he piss himself in that soccer pic💀💀💀
@@miss_bougie6653 I get that but you can hate the algorithm and not the person (it just seems stupid to me to blame the person for that)
Film twitter is representative of a tiny group of wannabe film critic incels. We and the internet adore ryan
I don’t hate the guy, I just wish he would do different kinds of roles. He plays the same character in everything he does.
Literal billionaires who got married on a plantation turning out to be controling and weird? Shocker.
Ryan and Rock are basically the same according to Patrick H Williams, not actual actors by commercial spokespersons. Though I will give Ryan the edge
Literally wasn't aware the internet had fallen out of love with him
Social media is a hate machine.
I think Ryan Reynolds is ok, and he suits Deadpool to a T. But I will say I can’t ever seem to click out of those Mint Mobile ads fast enough.
That’s funny that her outro is an eight bit version of *NSYNC‘s bye bye bye
thank you for the video, Kayla! i was dumbfounded when i read the title as i’ve never encountered a person in my surroundings and generally on the internet who hated Ryan Reynolds. i feel like people are too picky with the content (idk why, we live in the era of TV where Deadpool and Wolverine is the only good movie this year and Madam Web exists) and try to cancel everyone for minor reason or no reason at all. as it is mentioned in the video, as a white person, it is not my place to forgive Ryan for anything and seems like him and Black learned their lesson and generally it seems like honest mistake on there side. other than that, i’m a huge fan of x-men series and i love Deadpool 3 more than previous two. it’s fun, genuine, made with love. seems like everyone on the screen really wanted to be there and it shows. would love to see more of that but doubt they will be able to pull it.
