    Well I'm so sad tonight
And the words won't come out right
It's been a long day on the track
And its stamina that I lack
So won't you run to me tonight?
Tonight we could pretend that we're just lovers
But I'll only ever be a middle distance runner
Well my heart is beating hard
And I'm off with a shot at the start
And my legs tremble from strain
But by the finish line I am drained
So won't you run to me tonight?
Tonight let's not talk about next summer
Cause I'll only ever be a middle distance runner
    Well I'm so proud tonight
    Of the woman you've become
And I'm just too tired to fight
    So my darling, I'll succumb
But you'll have to run to me tonight
Tonight I will love you forever
But I'll only ever be a middle distance runner

I love how all the comments here are arguing whether or not the song should be mainstream....lol. Who the hell cares? It is a SONG...no one asked you your opinion on it. If you're a TRUE fan, you would respect the fact that it's getting more of a fan base. Don't like hearing it too often because it's more popular? Stop listening to it so much, ha. Simple solutions, people!

it just occured to me at the end that the words middle distance runner means to meet him half way because he cant do this in his own. like the whole song is very sad, but i like to see the happy ending, and it makes the situation I am going through seem easier to handle.
Thank you O Wolf of the Sea

This song reminds me of the 800m... Did I take it too literally?

    • @joshhodge5864
      @joshhodge5864 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

ItsDrewsCorner no not at all. It reminds me of that too because I'm on my high school track team and I generally run middle distance races. The artist uses the metaphor of a runner who knows that he'll only ever have the endurance to run an middle distance race... metaphorically it's also about only really ever being able to go so far for somebody and not being built to go the distance alone and essentially needing somebody to meet you half way. This song kinda resonates with me both metaphorically and literally in almost a creepy way

If one person says it, it is just there opinion. If multiple people say it, then it is probably true

i would disagree; musicians make music for the pure love of music and sharing that love with others. most people don't have a #1 desire to become successful/famous and most musicians would prefer having integrity and having independent choices in making their music rather than being signed by a "big" label, making a lot of money but not having as much say in what they put on their albums.

You guys suck with the whole "mainstream" thing. This song is fantastic, no matter how many people hear it. People need to hear Sea Wolf's music, because it can be life changing. If it's not for you, then cool. Move on with your life. Don't come to youtube bashing it or it's fans. I've been a fan of his for over 5 years and Leaves in the River played a huge role in my life. So stop arguing because it's freaking pointless.

It's terrible. Musicians make music to be loved and become successful.
We selfish hipsters want nothing more than for them to stay unknown.

  • @crazzyforred
