Forty years after his unforgettable first case in Beverly Hills, Detroit cop Axel Foley returns to do what he does best: solve crimes and cause chaos.
Would've been decent to actually mention Harold Faltermeyer. 🤷♂
They included his name on the album cover of the soundtrack not sure if you’ve seen it :)
@@ImZaee That’s cool. Just thought it would be nice to pay him tribute on the featurette. 👍
@@danpalmer5451 oh yea I definitely agree with you for sure especially for new viewers of the franchise who aren’t familiar with Faltermeyer creating the original score
Faltermeyers is the ONLY version that matters. I played the original 12" vinyl 3 times today (well yesterday the 3rd July) to celebrate 'Axel F Day'
This was pure cringe.
The minute that silly tart mentioned how 'diverse' these classical musicians were I felt the red mist a rising....
Grrr....
Axel F is Electro Street Music from the Breakdance era of the early-mid 1980's and has nothing to do with a bunch of pretentious woke ponces and their crappy cellos.
Grrr....
With a 1984 attitude.
🖕
What about Crazy Frog 😊
the original composer and performer wasn't even mentioned so I will - Harold Faltermeyer
Clearly u didn’t watch the whole video. Literally credited him in the first minute of this video via text
@@MrFanSoundtrackscan you point this out, I’ve restarted the video many times
Edit: I found it it’s around 0:36
Still it wouldn't hurt to actually be mentioned it by the new composer who adapted it to date. Nevertheless, I like the new take on the theme in an epic orchestral variant.
Didn't he also do Top Gun?
Great composer, he should ve credited
Original Harold Faltermeyer 🤘🏼
He also did the fletch theme, not equally as iconic but it is just as good.
@@chadwillett619 You are forgetting the soundtrack for Top Gun, which Faltermeyer also wrote.
@@rustyjames8138 never watched top gun.
@@chadwillett619"Diggin' in" theme from "Fletch" movie is too good
Legendary. Im a huge fan of Fartmeyer's work,
The amazing HAROLD FALTERMEYER did an iconic score all by himself with a synthesizer. He created one of the most memorable themes in film history. And his score for the second film is also great.
And THANK YOU Harold Faltermeyer! ⚡🎹⚡
Masterpiece of Harold Faltermeyer!
Dissapointed Harold Faltermeyer wasn't brought back. Harold did both parts 1 & 2 entirely by himself with Keith Forsey, no orchestra. He also used far better synthesizer sounds. I'm surprised he wasn't even consulted. The score by Balfe is still good however and the tone was good, but i believe Faltermeyer should have at least been part of this film, he made this film series a worldwide hit just as much as Eddie Murphy's acting.
They did the same thing with the Amazing Giorgio Moroder with the Top Gun Sequel … he co wrote and produced Take my Breath Away and Danger Zone I think ? And they wouldn’t use him for the Sequel … Falltermeyer I believe was Giorgio’s Protege
@@BuzzodeGiorgio Moroder wrote and produced two or three tracks for “Top Gun: Maverick“ and Harold Faltermeyer was supposed to return with the original equipment, he was very excited.
Sadly they got replaced and the producers didn’t want to use them or their new tracks.
@@martinddhyji read Faltermeyer did a few bits for Top Gun 2 but most of it was Balfe and then they used Lady Gagas song as a basis for the rest of the score.
Could not agree more. This is one of the most iconic themes ever composed and it deserves Faltermeyer. We deserve Faltermeyer.
Very 😞
And not once you mention Harold Faltermeyer, the original composer? Man, that is brutal. Harold Faltermeyer is even still alive, you know?
They did before the minute mark
@@reese2038 You mean the tiny little text in the upper left corner that was added in post production? While the camera shows us in big beautiful font "Composed by Lorne Balfe"? Oh yes, I agree, they do cover the legal bare minimum. Which only proofs that they left Mr. Faltermeyer out of the story fully intentionally. Brutal, as I was saying.
I'm glad Eddie Murphy is back 👍
Hell yeah Eddie is a legend 💯💯
What a way to “honor” the original and not mention Harold Faltermeyer
They literally show it before the minute mark
Harold Faltemeyer is true genius creating this song
Sounds great. Looking forward to it. But lets just have at least one mention or shout out to Harold Faltermeyer
Harold Faltermeyer is one of the best 80’s composers of the time. Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun, Flech, The Running Man and many others.
They did a great homage to his work but it will never compare to the original.
Yup - 'Tango and Cash' OST is my personal choice of preference 😊
@@McD5791 Great Soundtrack 🤟
It is great indeed! I have loved it since the first time I heard it! I was 17, go figure
why wasn't Harold Faltermeyer asked to come back?
He retired from movie scoring i think, his last credit was from 2010.
@@l4nd3r He did come back to collaborate with Zimmer and Balfe on Top Gun Maverick (his son Florian also helped with that score).
Apparently he simply wasn't asked. What a shame.
Lorne Balfe is a fabulous composer! He really understands the role of music in film.
The music presented here is absurdly over the top for a Beverley Hills Cop movie. Don't get me wrong. I get the allure of the self-important "legacy" approach, but I hope the rest of the Axel F score is a bit more on-brand. Still excited to watch!
Been a fan of Lorne Balfe since Call of Duty MW2 - he was so good, people thought Hans Zimmer did the whole soundtrack instead of just the theme
The tune "Shoot Out" was a huge part of the original '84 score, I was hoping to hear a new take on that but they completely left it out. That tune is just as important as Axel F in my opinion. Why not get Harold Faltermeyer back? What's the deal there?
Your guess is as good as mine. Only a brief snippet of Shootout is heard on the score track "jane"
@@mugabesunny exactly
shoot out is amazing!
The Soundtrack is amazing, specially the "90210" rendition of the Axel F theme. That one is f***ing Epic.
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 Lorne Balfe is God tier. He respects the classics, but gives us new energy at the same time.
TRUTH
Balfe contributed little original work to this soundtrack. The ideas are all Faltermeyer's.
Respects the classics by giving zero mention to Faltermeyer? Yikes.
@Itsjustjess352 you already mentioned him thanks. I understand what you saying. The music here pays tribute to him. Everyone knows that. When I mentioned Balfe respects the classics that is true. Since he scored 2 classic films originally scored by Faltermeyer with grace. Then he did again with the recent Bad Boys sequels. Paying respect to Mr. Mancina. He's kind of becoming the legacy composer now.
@Itsjustjess352 yeah netflix messed up on that lol.
Love the new Axel F theme which mixes a 80s original synth vibe with a SNL sound.
"They'll play that shit at my funeral, one day."
DAMN RIGHT, WE WILL!!!!!
Harold faltermeyer no mention?
This was one of the first songs I learned how to play on the piano as well
LOVED, LOVED THE MOVIE!!
Original composer not mentioned, but they made sure to tell us it was a diverse orchestra....
Still amazing years later . I remember the first one 40 years ago.
The music to the original was composed by Harold Faltermeyer.
used to be my ringtone.....yeah I'm switching back.
They'll play this and Party All The time at Eddie's funeral
I've waited for something like this. The fact that so many synths and instruments were used to create that theme song is just incredible!
why won't anyone mention harry faltermeyer?
Don Simpson is smilingly down today.
Down?
Who you kidding?
Good point
@@Geronimo_JehoshaphatThat was savage.
'Axel F' by Harold Faltermeyer. How can his name not be mentioned in the video?
This axel f theme will definitely be played at the funeral of Eddie Murphy
…which won’t be for some while, I hope.
It’s a beautiful piece of music
I can listen to it and never get tired of it
One of the best theme songs ever. I too learned to play it on piano.
good theme
I think Netflix should've given this movie a 4 week window at the theaters. The movie needs to be seen on the big screen, great score too.
Vintage Synth Museum was called on to provide all of the synthesizers for this epic recording.
ok but where is Harold Faltermeyer ? and we don't need that orchestral stuff, Beverly Hill's cop is just funky
Wow!! What a franchise 👏🏼👏🏼
Not one mention of the original creator, weird
Yes. Faltermeyer's music made that film a hit. You take out Faltermeyer's music, you don't have the magic. He has been severely under appreciated.
Certain movie themes transcend pop culture - the Axel F theme by the legendary Harold Faltermeyer is one of them! When you hear it, you instantly know where it from. Lorne Balfe was 100% the person for this job, love that they brought back the original synths used for the score - such a great touch!
Now THIS is emphatically NOT tacky exclusive content footage this is cool! As a musician, i love the idea of repristinating vintage gear of any of kind but ESPECIALLY those synths whose very dulcet tones conjour up a bygone milieu that i know DAMN WELL we ALL pine for because i wasn't even born until 86! Anything but this ominous chrysalis to dystopia!!!
Perfect song if your ever following someone and want to feel more like a private eye and less like a stalker.
I PLAYED IN THIS
Totally classic film title song.
Awesome 👌
Lorne Balfe killed it, loved hearing the score from II used also
Great follow up. Lol love how settle they put in stuff and people from the first 3 movies
My generation had two main songs we all learned in our tiny little keyboards, this one and terminator.
fabulous track!
Harold Faltermeyer, please.
Shout out to Sunglasses Kid to who worked on nailing the 80s sound with Lorne Balfe on this as well.
Great job, the music was awesome!
The OG fans know that the Axel F theme is the thing you hear when you first enter Paramount's Great America theme park.
Cool!
What fun, a truly joyous session for all!
Shoulda got Harold to do the soundtrack. Jeesh
This song is as iconic as Superman's theme song! Yeah, it's that epic. Beyond proportions.
That is epic!
Orignal song was always a thing that I knew was part of the story. My wife and I watched the movies just before the new one. We are very happy with the new one.
Full version please 😙💚
Lorne is freaking great !
Where‘s Harold Faltermeyer? Shame on you!
Exactly.
Interesting to see that its in the key of C minor. The original key was F minor
Good eye, but that Epic Orchestral version of Axel theme (called "90210") is actually THE ONLY track that plays in Cminor in whole soundtrack, Axel's theme Remix and "Axel's Return" are playing in Fminor, and also Bad Helicopter does too, but most common key for this movie is Eminor, it features in almost all tracks as a base key
Axel Foley Theme Remix!! Awesome!! 😎👍
~ The song is everlasting; still so, so good. I'm so happy for this movie! Last weekend I re watched Beverly Hills Cop 1, 2, & yes, even 3... I was so ready for BHC Axel F... It is fantastic...So, so good... Excited for the next one! ♥
Movie is great..i was laughing so much..especially first 20 or so minutes ..
And music is iconic
I love serge 🤣
Brazil making history 🇧🇷
Great song, great movie. I was really surprised, not trying to push any messages but they are in the background of the story as it should be
This movie honored the first the same way Maverick honored Top Gun 1. Two thumbs up!
This is incredible, any way of seeing this whole session? Streaming has stripped us of behind the scenes and special features we got with disks. I’d buy the dvd/Blu-ray just for these orchestra sessions
At least they met their diversity quota. So stunning and brave to highlight such an amazing achievement. It will forever change the face of film scoring.
Eddie deserves and oscar
Netflix has done it again, pay homage and respect to the original material just like Cobra Kai.
Started on TH-cam but I'm glad Netflix picked it up
What an incredible session full of amazing talent. So cool to see these people performing together at that scale to make something awesome.
HAROLD FALTERMEYER is mentioned in the video description people !!! ...more...see more
I’m 25 minutes into the movie and let me tell you so far… I can relate HAHAHA the movie so far is trying to navigate thea journey of a GenXer through a woke world. I miss the recklessness of the 80s where the only to way to learn is to tell a person’s shitty truth to their face, sweat through hard work and bleed. Life offers a lot of privileges now without breaking a sweat. That’s what GenX will be here for. You need people like us to call you out.
Nailed it. Bravo.
Harold Faltermeyer isn’t mention once…
0:34 not by words but by text above left
I love Axel F song 🤩🎼🎵🎶
No mention of Faltermeyer?? New score sounds generic. At least credit the creator!
Everything Lorne Balfe does sounds generic.
Axel F by Harold Faltermeyer is unique.
In movie history.
In music history.
People are too bent out of shape because Harold Fartmeyer wasnt mentioned... calm the hell down. Theres like 100 people all saying the same thing, all whining that he wasnt mentioned. You dont even know Harold Fartmeyer. Can you name all his albums? probably not.
Murphy was a vampire since "Vampire in Brooklyn"
Lastima Netflix no saca ediciones físicas de sus pelis, amaría tener una copia en físico al lado de mi colección de Eddie Murphy en Blu-ray: gracias Netflix, lograste un excelente remake
Yes yes legendary soundrack, and they didn't even put once the original one in the new movie.
I cannot see Harold in this video.
Just watched the movie, and I can say I did enjoy it. Eddie really made this work, unlike the train wreck that followed up Coming to America. This movie did check that 80s vibe. Well, only after disregarding the over saturated bullshit Netflix still believes they can brainwash us with. Anyway, back to the topic of this video. Am I the only one thinking the theme was a little overdone? Maybe tone it back a little. It’s like they had to play the theme each time Axel experienced a different emotion. At least that’s how I perceived it. Kinda like I need to be told how to feel emotionally to follow along. At least we got The Heat is on, and Shakedown. Aside from all of that I can only thank Seth Mcfarlen for ruining the Axel F theme for me. All my brain hears over the synth is Peter Griffen saying “And then another Heh heh, heh heh heh. 😅
@@christopherschreck2377 I love the Peter griffin version!!!
I must approach it alone. This is all about peaceful communication
I was today years old when I learned that this iconic theme is from Beverly Hills Cop, which I have yet to. No time like the present I guess.
Let me guess.....you knew this track only thanks to Crazy Frog?
thanks for not letting us hear it.
Say his name: HAROLD FALTERMEYER!
BHC
TOP GUN
FLETCH
.....
That's rightEddie Murphy show with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence what you made of you're the first Beverly hills cop 😎💯
Tha'ts sweet and cool but what about mentioning the creator of this iconic theme...Harlod Faltermeyer !
Just mentioning...that's all.🤷🏽♂️
You didn't even mention Harold Faltermeyer. Geez...
Bronson Pinchot look like Owen Wilson now but more healthy
You play this song and I think I am axel Foley
