It will all make sense when you experience Euclid. The closure all ST fans long for. The healing we all needed. The realisation it is over. It is okay to move on it’s time to be somebody new. And it’s fucking beautiful.
Thank you for the reaction! Keep in mind that a lot of their songs can be interpreted more than one way - I think that's by design. One way to interpret this song could be that it describes, in part, what happens to people who have dementia and who experience the phenomenon of sundowning (the album title) - i.e. their behaviour tends to change at the end of each day. Example lyrics which reflect this: "When you live by daylight with angels at your side, bestowed by the sunrise"; "the whites of your eyes turn black in the low light"; "and you remember everything only til the sun recedes once again." Either way, the music itself and Vessel's vocals are mesmerizing. It's a beautiful song. 🫶 Worship
I believe the idea in listening to this song is that it comes full circle in the album “Take Me Back To Eden”. Basically you wouldn’t get the reference until you listen to “The Night Does Not Belong To God”. Us ST fans like it when reactors find the Easter eggs in the final trilogy. Here for it! Worship!!!
This isn’t the first thing from sleep token like you said. They had 2 ep’s from when the band first formed in 2016. Ep one and ep two. That’s literally the name of them. Check out ep one first there’s 3 songs on each ep
take the musical journey of the albums in order. And for keen students of the tracks you will get a journey like no other. it might sound over the top. But the nods to songs in later albums and the breadcrumb trails he leaves to follow if you know where to look is truely like nothing else in music.
after you finish return to eden album please go to their EP1 and EP2 they have also singles out as well, then you can continue with Albums. This first song you did with Sundownng will help you with the return to eden album, not going spoil your jouney but you will love it as I do.
Tis about a phenomenon associated with Alzheimer's, is 'Sundowning', which this song encapsulates... it does. Edit: The lore is just a little creative fun for the band, especially if you come to realise where he draws some of his inspiration from. It's a new take on the old Robert Johnson tale.
Oh, listening to this through a second time those voices singing those high notes are just beautiful. I'm trying to figure out if this was just an introduction to demons having to let go as the sun rises sending them back into the darkness of the night
Hi Clay and Sue, I have really enjoyed your reactions to Sleep Token. The purpose of their music is for the listener to feel. It’s very clear you are both actively listening and really feeling something. I am sorry to be THAT guy, but there is a story being told and it starts from the first song 'Thread the Needle', which was released in September 2016. The full discography (not including covers) in order of release is: ‘One’ EP (2016) - 3 songs 'Two' EP (2017) - 3 songs 'Jaws' single (2018) 'The Way That You Were' single (2018) 'Sundowning' LP (2019) - 12 songs 'This Place Will Become Your Tomb' LP (2021) - 12 songs 'Take Me Back to Eden' (2023) - 12 songs It is entirely your choice in which order you listen to each song. My recommendation is to start at the beginning as there is a specific narrative, albeit one that is very much open to individual interpretation. 'Euclid', the last track on TMBTE, should certainly be the very last song you listen to. My own interpretation is that this is a journey of loss and grief. I would like to send you my condolences for the recent passing of your Mother-in-Law. Really looking forward to your future Sleep Token reactions. W O R S H I P
It brings me happiness to Worship. It's a guilty pleasure to witness others doing the same. Fucking Worship ❤
