Hey Dave, this is an opportunity for you to rise your YT audience! Start reviewing all these funny staff about English teachers from other countries 😂😂😂
Thank you Dave ❤️. I haven't commented on TH-cam videos for the past 2 years, but your videos on "Don't Say" and "Stop Saying" made me want to thank you . If anyone reads this comment, please give the video a like👍. This helps the TH-cam algorithm notice the reactions to the video and makes it more visible to non-native English speakers who are just starting to learn the language.
It’s sad how any person can make videos teaching English and cheat a lot of people who in some way are not worried about the correct information. Thanks for clearing that up!
Goood! Ello govnor is definitely not French and it actually sounds just like “Хеллоу Говно” in Russian which literally means “hello shit” Imagine saying it to someone who speaks Russian 😂
OMG Dave- I'm 100% with you!!! I know what you feel. I lived in Ireland 15 years and I can confirm hands down that the word CRAIC is pronounced the way you pronounce it. Kudos to you for doing this excellent work!!! Jaysus Christ almighty, those 'teachers' or 'snake oil sellers' don't even bother looking up words in reliable sources, such as dictionaries or googling them. It doesn't hurt!
What’s wrong with all these so called « teachers » like this guy, Chris, mogylko, and other scammers!? Why in the world they think they can teach!? I am speechless. Poor Dave and all those professional English teachers😔. I really feel for you. Dave, by the way, you don’t even need to prove us what you are saying is true, searching goggle, etc. We know you are 100% right. It’s so sad that nowadays all a large number of illiterate scammers have the right to fill in the audience with a complete gibberish. Thank you, Dave❤.
“Ello Gov’nor” sounds like “Привет , говно» that totally makes other people confused in Russian speaking countries and actually it got me laughting. In the worst case scenario you can be hit to the face after saying that
Aaah, I got it. Among programmers we have the meme of - no offense meant - 'indian tutor' on the Internet, who can teach you a bad thing... if you manage to listen through their random accent.
Englishman here. .. "How's tricks?" is an informal phrase used by some English/British people ( possibly Aus/NZ people too). It means "how are things?" and can be used when meeting somebody you know bypassing "hi/hello". You wouldn't use it with somebody you don't know. "Craic" is Irish but it is used in England and would be understood by most people ( especially younger). "How hops it?".....no, never heard of it. "How goes it?" is used in England...again an informal variant of hello/how are things?
"Ello Gov'nor" is my favorite one. For any Russian speaker it's hilarious! Can't stop laughing... 🙂Never heard it before, but from now on I will always use this phrase to greet people I don't like. 🙂
Ironically, "ciao" is the only somewhat common one here in London, due to the influence of the EU immigrant population (Spanish, Greek, French, etc.), within which it seems to be a fairly common greeting. "Alright, mate?" is very common, but "Alrighty, mate?" isn't. "How's the craic?" is common among the Irish, but not elsewhere. "Ello govnor" is indeed cockney, which is a dying "dialect" in London, which renders its greetings less and less common. I don't know anyone under 50 who uses that term, although it's probably still a widespread way of greeting your boss in certain working-class professions (especially construction).
WOW! Peek-a-boo?! What an eye-opener! It just occurred to me that all this time my mom was saying hello to me... And "What's cooking"? mmm maybe, but I think my granddad was expelled from kindergarten for using it...
HAHAHA the peek-a-boo one killed me. I started imagining a world where people go around saying "peek-a-boo" and I have to say, that is a fantastic world.
I really don’t get it, how come that such incompetent people always have hundreds of thousands and millions of subscribers / followers , whereas good content makers almost never do:( I mean educational content in particular What are your thoughts on that phenomenon?
Every language, I believe, has some informal greetings, especially among young people. But if someone tried to greet me with "peekaboo" (in our language it sounds like "cuckoo") I would be very concerned with his or her mental health 👀
I think such teachers just duplicate what they find online, without checking and usually such teachers are non-natives who have never lived in an English speaking country. Or they only learn academic or IELTS English that nobody uses.
Dave, it's not just a BAD English lesson video, it's probably the WORST English lesson video I've seen! This is sooo not fair to the ESL learners out there who think these are actual greetings that native speakers use. I was cringing with every "hello" alternative that was introduced.
Dave those guy definitely are crazy, who the hell is speaking like that these days? I think those TH-camrs should investigate first what they are going to say because lots of people around the world could believe something wrong, I can't imagine myself greeting or saying goodbye with those archaic words which sound horrible.
Well, I think if you want to learn expressions, phrases or what native speakers really say in daily conversations, you'd better learn from from native speakers or at least from qualified non-native teachers.
Just watch videos from native speakers/qualified teachers on TH-cam; there are tons of free videos available. Or you can also learn from free e-books or get a book from the library.
Hi Dave I like your videos so much! So glad I've found your channel, thank u for your job! I can't help laughing at all those so called teachers on internet , so confidently explaining to the learners say this , say that, cant they all understand they need to double-check themselves😂
I've been making comments on your videos for a while. I hope it helps you somehow.. well, I watched this video yesterday and I'm still laughing . Your reactions are priceless. And we think alike here. I know there are many kindsa ways to say hello. Peek a boo is the one I laughted the most. And That one he said "what's the craic" (I've never heard it) but sounds similar to what I heard a friend o'mine from California saying. He sometimes says "Hey, what's cracking?" Or "What's popping". Still...I think it depends on the area you are or even your age, right? However, what this guy (I don't know his name and I don't wanna know) said is BS. Therefore, I believe "hi", "hello", "hey" and even "what's up" work just fine.
Peek a boo Dave. How hops it? These are "alternatives" to get slapped by a women, punched by a guy, sued by metoo activists, and send to prison on the suspicion of being a child molester for greeting a child with peek a boo. Ciao on the other hand, is one I use all the time - in German. Well English and German are both Germanic, so close enough I guess given the other examples. I play around with languages all the time and there are other playful way of greeting. The question is who you are greeting and how you do it. "Bonjour, hello, how are you." Or " Hello, Namaste, how are you doing today". Something along those lines, where its obvious what these words from other languages mean. I wish there was a channel that shows how you can genuinely play with the language. But not this nonsense.
The how’s tricks one is an odd one, I know it exists but I’ve never heard anyone used it! I wouldn’t saying it! It does sound to me like an outdated phrase 😅
It reminds me of when some Spanish learners say "hasta la vista" to say "good bye" to me. The only place I hear this phrase is in Terminator jajajaj Then I think that maybe their teachers teach them that phrase, as if that were an everyday phrase.

Already in tears over “Ahoy” - can’t wait to see the rest

Kris Amerikos. He's good guy, don't make things up.
@@ГалинаПугачёва-ф1и Who said he’s a bad one!?🤦♂️. Think prior to posting comments. I meant his English, not personality. He’s not supposed to teach.
I love Dave's sense of humour))
Ahoy Dave! Love your videos! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
“Ello Gov’nor” sounds like “Привет , говно» that totally makes other people confused in Russian speaking countries and actually it got me laughting. In the worst case scenario you can be hit to the face after saying that
Right. I had to rewind the video to check if I heard that correctly
Hello shit😅 this is what it sounds like in Russian.. 😂 I'm dying laughing
Я ору😂😢😅 над ним прикололись?)
My proposal "Live Long and Prosper" /Spock, Star Trek/ 😜
You are doing a very important job for people studying English. Thanks!!!!
Watching those "teachers" give video lessons is like reading an average student's essay: absolute disregard for basic fact-checking
I love your videos!!! They're so funny and helpful. Thanks!!!!
I always thought I was too skeptical about videos like this but I'm over the moon that finally someone has affirmed my thoughts ❤ thanks sir
Thank you, Dave!
I am shocked that there are so many English teachers who are misleading the students...
My humble opinion on this topic: just say "hi". If you're ready to use anything else for a greeting, you don't need this tutorial.
Amen!
My dream from now on is Dave using "ahoy" as greeting in his videos.
😂😂😂
He is an Indian. I am also an Indian. I laughed so hard throughout the video and felt ashemed so much at the same time. My English is very poor bdw.
That looks like an alien trying to pass as a human
New topic for the TH-cam English teachers: let’s review a new language 😂😂😂
Hi Dave ! Your video made me laugh so much ! 😂
Thanks a lot !

Yep!🤣🤣🤣😅
Hello Dave! Love your pace and pronunciation! 🎉🎉🎉
ciao is an Italian greeting, I use it to say hello to my friends.
Thank you so much for your eye opening videos
Dave, this is awesome! I have watched half the video and I can't stop laughing. Brilliant, just brilliant! The guy needs to turn a professional comic.
There's a Russian school that teaches English and in their YT channel the greeting "what's cooking, good-looking" is kind of their thing 😅
Cringe lol
@@davesenglishso yeah, that one definitely rang a bell with me 😂😅
What school! Is there a proof link?

Peekaboo Dave😂if it weren't for you showing it I would take it as a satire. Quite embarrassing I would say.

So agree with you Dave. And I think he’s trying to give us (English learners) a very out of date word ‘Hat tip😂.
There you are Dave 😂. I’ve been looking for you since 5 pm. I think I’d prefer to use ‘Hello/Hi’ to greet.
Thank you, Dave. Excellent!!!
HAHAHA the peek-a-boo one killed me. I started imagining a world where people go around saying "peek-a-boo" and I have to say, that is a fantastic world.
Thanks for uploading this video 🙏 and plz upload more videos of Indian who are teaching wrong
I'm Indian and watch and learn from their videos😢
Ahoy from Prague! It's truth, we say Ahoy (correct writing form in Czech language is Ahoj). But this greeting is used only among friends or children.
Viem. Som "Slovák-Američan" :)
I have lived in England since 2009, and I found it very funny that the things this guy says somehow people would say in English , He is crazy 😂
Keep up the good work!
If you want everybody think you're mad, pls subscribe, learn English with all these crazy teachers😂😂😂lol
It's so bizarre because the guy clearly can speak English well (or at least competently) - there's no way he doesn't know these aren't correct.
Well said!
I hated those "don't say this word" kind of videos. But that one was great cause it made me laugh a lot.
These 270k just must watch this video 😂😂😂😂
It’s really funny to watch you videos!😄 While watching I also learn some new colloquial expressions like bonkers etc. 👍
I laughed so much at every one of these 😂😂😂 thank you

Absolutely! Well, it sounds "gavno" in Russian, but it's spelt "govno", LOL.
Hello. Wow! you are rock. Thanks for explaining. Funny video 😅
Hi Dave! hope you're doing well. I really enjoy watching your videos you make me laugh out loud haha.

I'm sorry you had to go through it, but it was hilarious 😆
That one is excellent! 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
I'm not a native speaker and now I'm confuse 😂😂😂😂😂 I'd choose to just say "HI/HELLO Dave" thanks for not making English so complicated

"What's cooking, good-looking?" has been taken straight from Mortal Kombat 11. That's Johnny Cag's line kkkkk holy crap! Kkkk

Regarding the Irish phrase mentioned in the video, is that why people say “What’s cracking” in AmE?
I’ve maybe heard “what’s cracking” twice in my entire life.
"Ahoy" me quebrou akakakkakaka
Ello gov'nor. How hops it?
