Blomqvist without any question is gonna be one in one of the Acuras next season. He's one of the best drivers on the grid and proved his talent the last 2 seasons with MSR and there's little doubt that he'll be on a revenge mission next year to get the title after losing it last year. Likewise, Braun falls under the sane category and will be eager to get his first overall championship. Both Taylor brothers will be staying with Acura and jump to MSR. Ricky's connections to Acura factory driver status is more believable than Jordan's because Ricky was apart of the ARX-05 program from Penske's 3-year spell and WTR's 2 year run. Whether or not the Taylor brothers will be co-drivers next year is a big question that will get answered as silly season progresses. Free agents like Derani will have to look elsewhere and either join a rival manufacturer, settle on an endurance only/reserve driver role, or jump to the WEC. Derani has said he's open to returning to the WEC and could be in one of the Jota Cadillacs next year. With Acura not an option to CGR, they are probably the biggest loser from this announcement as they were linked to acquiring the Acuras, but to no avail. Acura has ruled out customer cars and unless they can convince Alpine to bring the A424 over to IMSA, CGR is out of GTP as I just can't see them settling for a customer 963 program. Plus, with their rivalry with Penske both on track and commercially, CGR might pull an MSR and sit out a season before coming back. The deal all but confirms WTR is returning to Cadillac next year and like MSR, it's going to be intriguing to see who gets the full season rides. Albuquerque and Deletraz are both contracted to WTR according to sportscar365 and likely will stay with WTR as it changes manufactures. Bourdais and van der Zande both could stay in one of the WTR cars. Herta effectively will jump to whichever car at WTR is available for the endurance rounds given his connections to Andretti. Hartley as a result of this, could jump to MSR due to a policy Toyota has with it's WEC drivers not allowed to drive for a rival manufacturer who's competing in IMSA. As Acura/Honda/HRC isn't in the WEC, Hartley could remain at Acura and join MSR as an endurance driver
nice rundown of the situation
I'm betting that HRC has no plans to race at Le Mans, and WTR wants to go to Le Mans again.
Wayne Taylor has been begging Honda to race at Le Mans, but Honda has said they're interested, but never answered
@Eagleracer38x if wtr wants at le mans then they may joining to FIA World Endurance Championship
@@camp9092 I'm guessing you don't know that winning the IMSA championship in each class and Petite Le Mans give teams a spot to qualify for Le Mans. That's been that way since the first ALMS race in 1999.
Honda/Acura must homologate first the Acura in the windtunnel of FIA, only Porsche, Cadillac and more recently BMW and Lamborghini did that. In this situation they can be called LMDh cars, before this it's only GTP homologation. Also MSR should have an wild card like to race in Le Mans or become IMSA champions to have automatic inventation. It's a long path. But i'm sure that with MSR it could be more easy. They said lot of times that want to race in Le Mans. Sorry for my english.
@@Eagleracer38x and you don't know too
Past 2 years
ACO DON'T care about daytona winner if one of the hypercar Not join WEC they can't race at le mans
The reason Cadillac got 3 Cars at le mans
Is because one race at WEC the other 2 on imsa
It seems like for once in my life, i've made the correct prediction! Taylor-Andretti switching to Cadillac after Andretti-Cadillac had been blocked from entering F1 just makes sense.
Then why doesn’t Andretti use GM engines in Indy
@@thatonenigeriansformula doesn't need too happening now mind be next year or two years
@@thatonenigeriansformula because The GM engines in Indycar are actually Ilmor engines. Ilmor is a company owned by Roger Penske. Andretti surely doesn't want to play second fiddle to Roger Penske in Andretti's home series (or anywhere else for that matter). The real question should be why Penske doesn't use Cadillacs in WEC and IMSA.
Both questions can be answered by a common answer: Hypercar engines and Indycar engines are totally different.
@@JOHANNESwhoelse sure but branding is the entire reason we go racing at the end of the day if your entire organization isn’t behind one company what’s the point
@@JOHANNESwhoelse if I decide to use Chevy engines in one series why use their competitors car in a different one, your point about Penske and their hypercar program is valid but also Penske and Porsche have been working together since the late 60s early 70s with the 917 and 911 so I understand them not breaking ties nos
Acura/Honda need to grew some balls and run in WEC and LeMans.
It makes no sense that Acura/Honda is not running WEC. Acura is strong in IMSA, so they should be fine in WEC.
Acura wants to but Honda HQ doesn’t want to promote the Acura brand in Europe nor go through the process of re-homologation the car just so that they can change the name.
The problem is the money. Honda are already in F1 and MotoGP. They dont want to spend the money for a new base in europe for wec
Looking forward to see how this new iteration of the team performs. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Jonah for the timely update! Have a great weekend.
Great news for MSR, two entries is very unexpected but awesome to see them back, would love if they could also enter an NSX in the pro class.
Is there even a GT3 NSX?
@@juaneerThere has been for years, and it’s a bit long in the tooth. Gradient Team Racing runs one in IMSA as #66.
Happy to see MSR coming back with Acura/HRC.
As an Acura fan, as long as they keep racing that’s all that matters
Great job sir. Well that answer the questions about Cadillac in IMSA. Now we are waiting to see who will run the Cadillac in WEC.
Is Andretti because reason why they leave Acura... Because they want do both WEC and imsa Honda didn't let them so only ways is take Cadillac while option is available
Jota will switch from Porsche to Cadillac
Do teams not do WEC and IMSA? I thought it was the same regulations
@@mrjdmtunerboy.1463it's not just Andretti, Wayne Taylor has been begging to take that car to the WEC/LeMan. Honda has said they're interested but never answered.
@@javiersilva1577 There are some rule/procedures differences, but the GTP cars are the same as Hypercar. Some manufacturers/teams do only run one or the other probably due to regional sponsorships or cost.
Wayne Taylor would likely pick up pipo derani
To my knowledge, he is/was a GM contracted driver so he could not be with WTR in Cadillac. My bet is that he goes with the HRC run Acura
Honda has to come race @wec
What about Chip Ganassi then? And Cadillac in WEC?
It could maybe mean that Wayne Taylor will Switch to Cadillac, they're still looking for a Team besides Action Express.
And If I'm Not wrong, WTR was a Cadillac Team before.
You're right! There are bridges between Taylor and Cadillac that could easily be rebuilt. Though i believe that Andretti would need to seriously invest in their cooperation with Taylor in order to run two cars in WEC and IMSA each.
Perhaps they'd need to cut their Supercars investment, as Walkinshaw Andretti United isn't achieving its long-term goal of making Chaz Mostert a Supercars Champion.
I love Skank Racing
This relation Acura x MSR is really a sitcom. I never expected to see Acura giving attention to MSR after DaytonaGate 24h 2023. It's really funny.
Well for next all team need to bring 2 cars each on WEC so at the moment red caddy was in IMSA does this mean yellow nose will join blue nose caddy on WEC?
it’s going to a different team. possibly hertz team jota with the caddy in wec. (not confirmed but rumors)
@@BryanWolfe21 i heard that too either Jota or WTR but not know will Caddy bring 2 or 1 car in WEC. Cuz my info GM will not make another Caddy in new future so I think they will have 3 same as Acura will only have 2
@@Xtonishing well the rule for next year for wec is you have to have two cars unless you are private. for imsa i heard it was 2 axr caddy but now ig its one for axr and one wtr but we will see
There are two top tier American teams that have success in American sportscars that never competed at Le Mans as a whole, WTR and RLL Racing. Hopefully at least WTR can make that massive step to Le Mans.
What I really wanna know is, when are we going to see more then 2 Acuras on the gtp grid? These 2 cars have been passed around through like 3 teams
Maybe never. Hrc just doesnt have the budget to do more. Their main budget in the US goes to supplying half the indycar grid
wonder if we will see wtr at le mans
That would be amazing, this, aston and hyundai, thats fire, they dont stop coming
I hope to see the Acura compete in WEC as well and I would also like to see Mazda make a return to IMSA
When will be Jota Cadillac Confirmed?
Likely not because having Andretti is far bigger deal than customer European team
My guess is that Ganassi will switch to Acura too
probably not but you never know
Hi
Hyundai and McLaren join hypercar
While Alfa Romeo and Mercedes reject
i am so cooked,, i heard Ohio squad and i started laughing
