Those cheap Taiwanese discs are the reason Sound Choice came along. Although I like the San Francisco shots.
I grew up watching these on TV! Our local karaoke channel would play them every morning. And yeah, Honstar karaoke is NOTORIOUS for its typos 😂😂😂 they had to superimpose the videos. I have the full Old Style Love Songs collection.

Honestly, it takes a good singer to sing that badly. See also Carmen Silvera's performances in Allo Allo versus what she was actually capable of.
I use to go to a lot of karaoke boxes (places where you rent a room and pay by the hour) in the late '80s & '90s and those laserdiscs are the equivalent of record rip-offs. Most Japanese brands of laserdiscs I sang to never had those problems (with the occasional typo but that was it). The singers they used were mostly American and performance wise was mostly spot on.

Nowadays, anyone who wants to sing karaoke, might as well be subscribing to Digital Cable TV where there's a dedicated channel for karaoke available as an On Demand channel.
There is a copy of that Clarion "Best Hit's" for sale on eBay. I am so tempted!

You'll have to watch that one on a standard desktop or laptop computer. The powers that be have made it so that the episode isn't allowed on mobile devices, set-top boxes or gaming consoles.

I have the revised version of your "Up Where We Belong" and "Somewhere Out There" clip... the typos in the lyrics are fixed.
Just to let you know, or you already knew this, some karaoke LDs which are made in Taiwan has no original singers. They mostly has random singers covering the song, and they have not-related-videos-with-the-song-lyrics, only a woman walking here and there. CMIIW
BTW, I have the first five volumes of the series of the "Greatest Love Song" laserdiscs... haha. Some of the typos are fixed in my copy.
The "Without You" clip came from a karaoke LD series named "Old Style Love Song". The series had been revised many many times since the lyrics have lots of typos...
so I think the Endless Love Song series took the videos from other companies, and took the tracklisting from the Greatest Love Song series, which I found annoying and I decided not to buy that series.
I have the revised version. The ones with the OG typos are so rare I had to favorite any video of them

As a former karaoke host, some people shouldn't sing. No, really. The only reason that they think they can sing is they get a bit of lubrication in them, then get the mic and belt out a horrible tune in an equally horrible voice.
Karaoke should die...like the remakes of those bad disco songs.

Well I remember that karaoke background when I was 6 years old, and that lyrical dance duet background video was also used in the song "No Other Love" by Jo Stafford, although it was edited just to shorten things up. But this one was hard to find on YT and other search engines including Google but I gotta tell you this song "Endless Love" was so beautiful, even if we watch them dance while we sing. LOL!!! has anyone mentioned that the video that was used during your exquisite performance of i just caled to say i love you was filmed in australia? The biggest giveaway was the phone box that had the telecom logo that was right before it was changed to telstra.. im guessing this was early 90s.. 91-93?
My closest guess was that it was filmed in Cronulla in Sydney
