Paul knows the spicy food trick! Once you start - keep going until you're finished - don't slow down or stop - then stop and stuff your face with rice! Seriously - this really works. I made it through a Korean meal where EVERYTHING was that same orange colour and survived. :)
banana brain I once made a chilli con carne so hot I couldn't even eat it. I had to open all the windows in my house while cooking it, I knew I went too far... Anyway a friend knocked in to try some and after one spoonful he came to the same realisation that it was inedible. So we went for a few pints of Guinness and when I came home fairly jarred I polished it off. Without going into too much details, that was the last time I cried 😢😢. Lesson learned, don't mix freakishly hot chilli and a feed of Guinness.

He did go straight beast-mode on that last one, though. Also, this would have been a crappy challenge for me, because I knew every answer... I still would have eaten the curries, though, out of sympathy. I have the benefit of having a father that knows jillions of these little factoids, so I osmosed some of them growing up.
A taco/burrito place i sometimes go to has this sauce called fiery yellow habanero. When you something with that sauce they always ask you if you're sure and if you have ever tasted it before, they even give you a sample to show you how hot it is. I love spicy food so I almost always pick the habanero. When I eat it my eyes start watering, my nose gets drippy, my mouth and tongue feels like it's on fire and the very next day my stomache always feels like it's wants to punish me for choosing that sauce. But I almost always pick it because it's just so freaking good XD.

You haven't lived until you've had a Bradford curry. Bradford, England. Their curries are legendary. All Anglos are advised to stick with medium, and rightly so. No heat I had from an extensive background with chilis compared with the shock of a Bradford curry.

It's actually the opposite; there's not much research done but there's some folks who believe that Capsaicin can help prevent/fight colon cancer.
