    I’m really glad Brian messaged you, too. It was through Brian that I found you. Now you two are my favorites!! So glad you got to meet in person. Brian’s book is by far my favorite gardening book.

    Aw yay! I love this! I could tell as soon as you pulled up who's place it was.
    I love his channel. He's an awesome guy. He's the only big gardening TH-camr who has ever taken the time to answer some questions I had through a dm. Such a great guy. Super happy y'all got to meet.

    When I saw the Cottage Garden in your thumbnail, I knew you went to go see Brian! Nothing better than my favorite TH-camrs getting to meet and do videos together! And as far as your tomatoes not growing because it’s too hot, please watch Anthony The Millennial Gardener, he lives in South Carolina and their climate is similar to ours here in Texas. He has learned that adding shade is key to keeping your garden healthy and growing. I added shade cloths over several of my tomato and pepper beds and they were healthy and producing all through last summer’s wicked drought. He has several different types of shade systems that he has tutorials of. It will really change everything in your garden if you take that step!

    Best way to prevent vine bores from attacking your squash plants and to protect your tomatoes and other plants is by using surround wp crop protectant. Look it up, research it and see what you think about it.
    Hope you enjoy your vacation 😊

    What a treat to watch this video. Welcome to So Cal. I enjoy watching his and your videos. My Mom was born in Texas (Victoria) and moved to California (Los Angeles) when she married. So, when my uncle visited us a few years ago, he was so impressed with the mountains off the 210 toward Santa Clarita. I didn't realize how much I took them for granted. So, hope you enjoy your vacation here. and make it out to Lompoc or Paso Robles. Thanks for sharing this visit with us. There are three other garden TH-camrs in San Diego that I enjoy watching and learning from. Hope you can make it to their urban homesteads and farm too. :)

    I am near atl and watch both of your channels, so this was a treat. I highly recommend shade cloth. I also love the millennial gardener (carolina) and I started using them this year and my plants are sooooo happy. It's still hot, but tolerable! Not to late to try this year and it won't break the bank. Fertilizer is more expensive.

    Well, this is cool! I've been following Brian for a very long time and the only problem I have is that he lives in Southern California and I live in Northern California in the great central valley -- he really doesn't know what "hot" is. So, while I follow his videos (both gardening and homestead) and even though I'm older than his parents I have learned much from him (and his book, which I bought for myself and then have bought for several others because it's great). I saw you on his channel and, luckily, someone in comments said the name of your place on TH-cam, so I've come here and subscribed. Because, even though Brian is a terrific teacher, you have to deal with the terrible heat that I have to contend with where I live. It's 105º right now and has been like this for days, and supposed to be above 110º for the next week or so. I look forward to adding your videos to my viewing on all things gardening. I hope you get a lot more viewers from your connection to Brian's work -- you both seem like people that are the kind of neighbors I like.

      @DownHomeBackyardGardening  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @xpurg8d Thank you so much for those kind words, I truly appreciate them. 🤗🤗
      The heat here today was 97, heat index of 110... so, I know a lot about the heat.
      I'll tell you, meeting Brian was great, he's a truly down yo earth guy, humble as they come and a total joy to be around.
      I really wish him and I lived closer to each other, we have a lot in common.
      I will try to live up to his standard on YT, as I also make videos in the kitchen due to the extreme heat, and working a full time job. 💯🤗

    0:22 I just came back from San Diego lmao… family funeral. Anyway, I know of several awesome gardeners out there such as the epic gardener or Jacquees in the garden or even Richard from grafting Dragon fruit. I used to live in Escondido up on the side of the mountain. That’s where I chose to settle for a little while after the Marine Corps.
