Great match. Unimaginably high level of play from two of the best SF4 players. Its always a pleasure to watch Momochi vs Daigo, regardless of the outcome. Had to watch it twice to really see more from the game. AWESOME!!!!
Momoch is a champ. I mean he basically OCV'd in the grand finals in 3S SBO last year and now his team won the National Japan Tournament. He's in top shape for Super to hit the arcade shelves hopefully sometime this year.
@LuigiFan1305 I personally think it depends on what character he's playing. He's going to be defensive against Akuma, a higher tiered character that does more damage with combos. But I've seen him play against Rufus or Ken and be more offensive.
What exactly is the distinction between the first time Momochi focus absorbed an attack and used it to counter hit, and the second time? The first time he dashed in and comboed, the second time he didn't. why, exactly? Not close enough?
@joojy Well spotted! I missed it. I can only assume he was trying to capitalize on Momochi just having cancelled 2 consecutive hadokens and not having recovered yet, he was trying to use FADC to follow his hado and guarantee a hit or something.
SOmebody reply me please. How does momochi do the forward dash -> low forward -> fireball at 1:27? Everytime I try that, a dragon punch always comes out.
@voidofambition There's another video of Momochi fighting Daigo where he catches him with it. He also won that set. Makes me think if Momochi is better than Daigo.
I miss vanilla SF4 when all the top tier characters were FB/uppercut and the game was based on footsies, zoning and spacing. You know, like SF2. Not this mixup BS that AE 2012 has degenerated into.
@roddyy69 That's called zoning or spacing. Read any strategy guide on Ryu and you'll see that a big part of it is convincing your opponent that you are going to throw a fireball, when really and truly you're waiting on him to jump. Secondly, Daigo doesn't always play that way. eg. watch?v=cE6n8_Qa7Z8 Moreover, watch how Momochi plays with Ryu..fair amount of fireballs... watch?v=9hKwI6M9zKs watch?v=_bfYj3fInsg watch?v=NioZnB9vRi No camping. Playstyle changes depending on the opponent.
In my opinion, and I think a lot of people will agree with me after watching all the matches between these two, Momochi is a superior player to Umehara.
@efTSjakie He has beaten him sometimes. I would say they're pretty even. They're matches are still pretty exciting though, I just wanna see what kinda shit they pull out aha.
im going to write this in all caps IF MOMOCHI CAME TO EVO EVERY YEAR HE WOULD WIN IT EVERY TIME BECAUSE HE IS CLEARLY BETTER THAN DAIGO every time i watch momochi play daigo he beats him and the fact that he beats him with a serious health disadvantage shows even more that he is the best player in street fighter
@ricefarmer G1 took me some time to get into to since I main Chun-li (Lag really doesn't help me as much as it helps those top tiers). Although I think that effort was somewhat pointless since it still lags. You just play even more irritating people than G2 since they have counters to what you try to do in their patterns. I would kinda consider G1 as average since it seems that the players at arcade infinity play better than me by a bit. G1 isn't at the top if you didn't know, SG is.
Japanese tourneys suck because its one match elimination. The tourney hosts need to change that rule. Its hard to tell which player clearly surpasses another, at a high level at least, if if there is only one match.
Its odd cause always the main characters in fighting games are well, basic but destroy other players like for instance... Ryu, basic but deadly... & now tekken 6.. Jin, basic but deadly... Not in a bad way and not that am not whinging but i find it odd?
daigo gives street fighter a bad name the reason why he wins its cuz hes a cheap if yes he can do the combos but thats only against people who cant avoid his hadoken bullshit. fighting game and he just camps on one side waiting for people to jump foward so he can do a shoryuken. its just painfull to watch. momochi is so much better

Clash of the Titans
Momochi is such a beast...man is just patient, waits for even the smallest opening, takes it and then does big damage..amazing play..
Momoch is a champ. I mean he basically OCV'd in the grand finals in 3S SBO last year and now his team won the National Japan Tournament. He's in top shape for Super to hit the arcade shelves hopefully sometime this year.
So intense watching these two play each other.
Very patient play from both.

Very nice match! High level play, both players. I have a lot of respect for both Momochi and Daigo.
@manoftheleaf Man that team.. Momochi, Kindevu, and RF wasnt it? Beastly. I wonder if he's coming to EVO this year.
momochi is a friggin beast - such a great akuma player. That 2:38 combo is just pure poetry.
@joojy Well spotted! I missed it. I can only assume he was trying to capitalize on Momochi just having cancelled 2 consecutive hadokens and not having recovered yet, he was trying to use FADC to follow his hado and guarantee a hit or something.

Everytime I try that, a dragon punch always comes out.
4:20 Insanely good how he handled that trap.
I love how both of the top comments are flaming that ricefarmer guy xD
@samueltennis it was light shaku
@alexanderegrt It's cause you're mashing the directional buttons too much, I think
they play patiently because this game has super easy reversals so its impossible to put any pressure on.
momochi's footsies are fantastic
@armoredtoad just curious when u are sighed onlike on ure acc and u go and play Arcade mode does it have any lag there ?
I don't care what the critics say, Momochi is a BEAUUUUTIFUL thing!
@Sephlock first was a 2nd level FA. it crumples on hit. 2nd was a 1st level FA which doesnt crumple.
My fav Ryu and Gouki go at it.
Man Momochi gave him a run for his money.
You can see how cautious Momo was though.
Gotta love Daigo.
momochi vs daigo are the best matches
what game mode is this? It doesn't look like noraml street fighter iv
both playing yun now i think. awesome match though
Awesome match
momochi is on top of his game right now
@voidofambition There's another video of Momochi fighting Daigo where he catches him with it. He also won that set. Makes me think if Momochi is better than Daigo.
and this is why Momochi's my favorite Gouki. Nice match
i loled when momochi backdashed into that fireball.
lol, Momochi actually using the Raging Demon this time. Never seen him use it.
After watching alot of Daigo's matches, I think momochi is his hardest opponent ever. I'm going to watch Momochi videos now!!
@Timbaland101 he didn't have enough revenge gauge...

@TomGoddard717 It was just a Very fast FADC
In my opinion, and I think a lot of people will agree with me after watching all the matches between these two, Momochi is a superior player to Umehara.

@vigil8686 Good point...thats true
@efTSjakie He has beaten him sometimes. I would say they're pretty even. They're matches are still pretty exciting though, I just wanna see what kinda shit they pull out aha.

why people always say spam hadoukens? its zoning! how are you gonna put pressure on your opponent using ryu? jump in all the time and get punish? god!
Man its like Daigo just can't beat Momochi. Momochi is so frekaing good
another example of momochi following daigo and knocking him off the sticks lol
Holy shit!!!
this is old
@TheFightingHobo daigo is best so far
WAY TO GO MOMOCHII!!!
good! fight! :D
Japanese tourneys suck because its one match elimination. The tourney hosts need to change that rule. Its hard to tell which player clearly surpasses another, at a high level at least, if if there is only one match.
@b7ray32
watch the videos I listed.
me personally i think momochi is the better fighter
Nice combo 2:37 :D

@KittensCake yes and people think hes good he spams tooooo much
end of 1st round was stupid =D
@farhannius im sure he's muc hbetter than what yo uwill ever be : /
Daigo disliked this.
Its odd cause always the main characters in fighting games are well, basic but destroy other players like for instance... Ryu, basic but deadly... & now tekken 6.. Jin, basic but deadly... Not in a bad way and not that am not whinging but i find it odd?
Daigo Everytimes sucks Against A Good Akuma :O !!
Daigo is such a spammer.....he turtles more than Guile players.
@farhannius im sure u can beat him...*sarcasm
daigo gives street fighter a bad name the reason why he wins its cuz hes a cheap if yes he can do the combos but thats only against people who cant avoid his hadoken bullshit. fighting game and he just camps on one side waiting for people to jump foward so he can do a shoryuken. its just painfull to watch. momochi is so much better
