- Despite warnings from his whole family and her mom, high school sweethearts Gavin and Ashley, both 18, are getting married no matter what. Ashley’s sister thinks they’re an odd couple and Gavin’s uncle thinks it’s happening way too fast. Meanwhile Gavin’s nervous because he’s never even been to a wedding. And Ashley’s plan for an outdoor ceremony in freezing weather has her bridesmaids feeling iffy. Plus, at their quirky “stag and doe” party, a hypnotist’s act has an unexpected effect on Ashley’s mom. But Gavin’s cross dressing adventure while suit shopping means they really just need to figure out who’s going to wear the wedding dress!

2019 Update: Gavin and I are still married, I graduated college and he joined the military. We have 2 dogs and a house and we travel foreign countries every chance we get. My friend married her college sweetheart at 18 and her husband was 22 summer after our freshman year. Was a bridesmaid, a whiteness signature etc. I knew how they felt and supported her completey. Scared me, but I knew they were happy. They got their own apt and kept going to college after, got some cats and a dog. Now, years later, they just had their third baby girl in January. They have three kids all girls. Still love each other and are together. She's a stay at home mom that enjoys writing and he works and does carpentry on the side. They're honestly best friends and good partners. I went to the hospital for every birth and been a big part of their kids lives. They're both some of my closest friends and she's like a sister to me, doesn't always work out but I think it depends on the maturity level and type of relationship the couple has way more so than age.

Kent Pra I’ve been engaged since shortly after my 18th birthday. My parents said they would help me pay for college if I just waited until after to get married. It felt like the end of the world like that would take so so long to get to the end of that road. We’re two months away from our wedding now! I’m 24, he’s 26. I can’t wait! And I don’t regret waiting at all. We have grown so much since that age. I don’t think we would have made it if we didn’t.

Hi Ashley! I'm so happy to see you still read these comments. I found this show randomly, and loved this episode. Hearing that you and Gavin are still together is more than sweet. Congrats on your 11 years, girl!
I married when I was 18, it was the worst mistake of my life, I left him 3 months after we married, I tried telling his mother beforehand that I didn't think things would work out but she said it was cold feet and pushed me into going thru with it, I was a people pleaser back then and had a hard time standing up for myself. The trauma I suffered from the physical and emotional abuse I endured during that relationship left me seeking therapy after I finally stood up for myself and left. I told myself that was 18 damn years old and I wasn't going to spend another second of my life being beaten and miserable, I was too young to start out my life that way and I felt pressured and coerced into following thru the marriage to begin with. I said I would never marry again however, I married my current husband when I was 30, we have raised 4 children together and even though we have bumps in the road from time to time, everyone does, he is the other half of my soul. I am not saying young marriages never work out, some do, but I do believe kids should wait and get a little life experience before taking the plunge. I can't imagine my life without my husband.
