@@glitchmeister1177it is also counter to franklin's weave, if you are in shack, get hit and rop the item, distorsion will hide your aura and since you will be most likely always in chase, then it will always recharge, but idk if you need to lose chase and get chased again for distorsion to be avaliable, if that's the case then it would be strong but not otherwise.
I really despise distortion as a killer main but the current version will make stacking auras miserable and it will increase further tunneling and slugging since you can repeatedly spam obnoxious aura reveals like Nowhere to hide, the dredge's perk (forgot what it's called but it will be S tier now for that) and so on to find the last survivor, OTR is the better version now with added protection and built in iron will. It should be like you said with 2 tokens at the start and recharging in chase, that way it's still has it niches but you need to take chases to gain the stacks not hide like little rats all game.
Distortion was fine. I used it for like 2 weeks and then stopped because there was a 50/50 chance you wouldn't even get value out of it. It forced both sides to not be so predictable with their builds. I did the same thing with Deliverance. Great perk but most of the time survivors instantly unhooked people so it had a 50/50 chance of just taking up a perk spot. You're better off using something that always gives you value.
See, that's where you're wrong. It was always 100 useful. In those matches where you didn't lose a distortion you were being given good intel, this killer isn't using an aura reading build.
@@iphone2web I guess that's one way of looking at it. Yes, it still gave you intel, but once you gathered enough game sense, you don't NEED distortion to get that intel. Strangely enough, using distortion is exactly how I ended up not needing it anymore. You end up being able to figure out their build without it. Plus, once you learn that you want to be seen and want to be chased, then you will rarely ever want to use it again.
@@iphone2web I prefer to be stealthy but I realized that sometimes you want the killer to chase you. For example, if the killer is tunneling someone, camping a hook, camping basement, protecting a gen that's almost done, etc. If you can get them to chase you, then you might buy a teammate some time to recover or allow them to finish that gen or safely unhook someone. Trust me, I'm not very good at looping but the game is much easier when it's 1v4 than 1v3.
@Stranzua Distortion worked fine that way, because if you want the killer to chase you, you can always just show yourself. I mean, the perk didn't make you invisible ;) With distortion, I could decide when to take chase and when not. RIP Distortion.

Literally, all they had to do was tie the token system to repairing gens, and the distortion rat problem would be solved. There are too many aura perks/addons in the game to warrant a hard nerf like that imo.
Hard agree. This hard nerf doesn't solve anything, not the 2v1 situations, not the hiding out all match (as lockers still exist). Scared newbies will be more scared again because they don't know their aura isn't being shown. Meanwhile weave plus franklin's rips into solo queue, and tunneling still isn't countered.
It's a healthy change. Don't you wanna get better looping the killer? Just because the killer knows your exact location doesn't mean they can catch you immediately.

Every decision that had happened to dbd is because of y’all entitled cry baby survivor mains so get out of here with that bs.
Ah yes, this is a case of the killers needing to be babied and not the perk needing to be nerfed because the one guy with distortion can just let his entire team die by hiding the whole game.
This perk was dumb and promoted boring gameplay like wtf how can u even defend it? I use aura perks a lot because I don't really like going for full slowdown as I believe it's boring and this perk pisses me off so hard like only thing it does is making killers use more slowdown perks cause they are not randomly useless against some bullshit
@thecrowner2605 whats the point of hiding if the killer can find you easily. Why give survivors a crouch? Why not make survivor scratch marks no matter what? Why not have them make noise everywhere. At least there's no regression meta right 🤡
It's hilarious how the people complaining about this perk say that it's only used by "immersed" survivors that do nothing all game, when in reality most of the people using it just don't want to be wallhacked half the game and try to guess which of the 563 perks (Without counting the add-ons) that reveals the aura of survivors the killer has. In my opinion it'd be better if the killer was rewarded by actually putting effort into tracking the survivor (Like in whispers) and not just a giant red arrow on top the survivors.
Cheap aura perks…. Any remotely viable killer perk that gives tangible value is “cheap” now. LOL. Aura? Cheap. Instadown? Cheap. Gen perks? Cheap. Cute
@@kingol4801Wouldn't be a problem if there wasn't already at the very least 10 different aura reading perks not counting addons like All seeing on wraith or Light Cassis on Bubba or Glowing Concoction. Also removing stealth from the game kills one of the playstyles survivors enjoyed.

Survivors that does nothing the whole match with distortion is the same thing with killers facecamping Survivors : there is no interaction in both side and it's annoying/ boring . It's a good nerf .
Correct. This is THE genre of the game. Killer is the power role. Implying that other 4 players are only there to SURVIVE them - not to have fun. Surviving is not fun and should not be fun.
Yep. Plus the rework didn't solve any of the more legitimate complaints, like people hiding too much. In its current form distortion still counters Lethal, which sucks for killers, also people will hop more into lockers again. For newbies, distortion helped to play more courageous because they knew their aura wasn't shown. A better rework would have been to not let it block aura reading except when the killers is less than 24 meters away, or maybe just have you notified whenever they see your aura with no blocking at all so you could adjust. Idk,, this nerf is just garbage.
I think they should have done something unique with it like make it so you still hold 3 tokens but you can only get them by being in 8 meters of another survivor for 45 seconds, one token for each survivor. If a survivor is killed and you hold the token associated with that survivor your aura is revealed to the killer for 15 seconds regardless of if you have tokens now
Otz need to shut up. Like clockwork, he post a video talking about “I think this perk is a little unfair” and then boom it gets GUTTED!.. there are SOOO MANY perks AND ADD-ONS that reveal aura, it was perfectly fine for Distortion to work how it did.
As if i thought recharging a token after 30 seconds is long enough for me. But well what can i do haha. Luckily I have stopped using the perk about 2 weeks and am getting used to not having distortion. I mean I could use Object of Obsession to counter the aura reading but i dont even have that perk yet haha. This nerf gives me more reason to not use it haha. The only good thing i see from this is the increase in duration of aura blocking ig. I mean hear me out. As the name suggests, its to hide yourself. Whats the point of recharging when you are in chase haha.
With the new Zanshiin Tactics and Predator, I'm never taking Object off ever again, if killers want wallhacks with those, then we'll have some fun together, both will see each other.
okay but can you regain distortion immediately after the 12 seconds is up? What if you use distortion during a chase (im all ears) then 12 seconds passes and you get in chase again, do you have distortion again? Can you use it multiple times over and over again while being chased by the killer entering/exiting chase?
Why do they change every killer perk into aura reading one and then nerf the only survivor perk that could prevent it (not always) Some killers won't load into match without their aura reading build. I like to see aura of survivors who are hiding, but if they are healing or just walking around a pallet, I dont need to see them. I actually like the challenge and skill required to find them. I feel like this change wasn't that necessary. Also, zanshin used to be my go to perk fr.
Off the record and Shadow step also blocks auras. Distortion just did too much. Like sometimes you could barely find survivors because they are all just wasting the killers time. and in some cases, everyone elses
@alexanderneve2323 I get what you mean but odr requires you to get on the hook. And when in survivor, I try to loop so I dont get hooked at all. Shadow step is a boon...we all know how boons are. Maybe if they changed it to less tokens or that you have to stay near the killer for longer would be better than this.
The reason why distortion worked so well was because of the tokens. But it became a double edged sword. Yes, Distortion is both a stealth and an information perk, which is the advantage it has against OTR and Shadow Step. But it became unhealthy for the game because incompetent survivors used it to stealth the entire game. You can still be good and use distortion, but a lot of players with distortion can also hide and wait till all their teammates are dead. This new version actually makes it so the distortion user has to participate IN the match, aka actually play the game. I think it's a great change, honestly
@@alexanderneve2323 I haven't met player who used distortion to hide only. I also don't see the perk on people's layout that often so maybe that's why I don't see problem xd

They should at least scrap that idea with finisher mori if they want put all these other changes in game. Btw I play both sides, so before you attack me in comments, I'm not one sided blockhead. I hate all changes in this new PTB. (Also, when I decide to play as survivor and I have Distortion, I don't use it to hide whole game, but for example to do save saves from the hook, peaceful work on generator or some saves with pallet and Head on stuns. And when I play as killer, there's usually noone using Distortion or only one person per match.
so, it still prevent the killer from reading your aura? he doesnt talk about it on the video, so, it still a thing or it was remove and changed to 2 extra sec or no scratch marks
Killers will find and tunnel survivors regardless of Distortion. Every game somebody is going to be camped, tunneled or both. It's rare to find a killer that likes to go out and hunt the survivors one by one. Most killers want easy wins with little effort. Now it's easier for them to locate survivors and they'll definitely take advantage of that. Aura reading builds will be stronger than ever.
Because chasing different survivors is counter-productive. Until the game rewards killers for focusing multiple people at once, nothing will change. Eliminated survivor (and remember, that is their PRIMARY objective) provides killer exponentially more value than a bunch of survivors running around. Penalties for the survivor team must be very HARSH if there are many survivors yet and nobody has died, despite killer hooking people a bunch. Otherwise the generator regression from one less person on the opposing team will always outweigh the miniscule reward for playing the game “fair”. Example: If all survivors have been hooked ONCE, and all survivors are still alive, survivors get 30% speed penalty to all actions. If all survivors are still alive and ALL have been hooked TWICE, all survivors get 60% speed penalty. When ANY ONE survivor dies, the team penalty is lifted. Here, fixed it for you. Now killer is incentivized by the game design to keep survivors alive for as long as possible, whilst still being rewarded for hooking others. Also, using “easy” when describing methodology is idiotic. You are advocating against intelligence of other people, with them picking an objectively better option that provides them more value, and somehow that is “shameful”.
@@kingol4801 How is sitting around the hook and going for the survivor that just got unkooked not easy? Anybody can do that and win. Altruism in SWF is what get them killed. In high MMR by the time you hook everyone at least twice it may already be too late. Survivors will always run gen rush and meta looping and anti-tunnel builds. Killers on the other side, will run anti-gen and aura reading builds. It's alway the same. Killers need to be rewarded for hunting and hooking survivors more which in turn will incentivize survivors to get out of the meta and choose another perks for fun.
They could at least Keep the tokens..... But no, They Decided To Kill De perk No one gonna Change my mind that this perk is Killed, even tho Its one of my favorites.
Yep, it's dead. Stealthy players won't use it because it requires to seek chases, and why would you do that just to gain stealth? I seek chases to draw attention away from other survs or objectives, but not to gain stealth. And survs that like the killer interaction have lots of better perks for their use. Yep, RIP distortion.
Because one perk (on a team that can bring 16 perks total) disabling killer’s build is a bad design. Killer’s perks are more invaluable than survivor’s due to how scarce they are. Hence the balance change.
Distortion only works on the one surv who has it on, not on the whole team. And if you think swf don't notice you having aura perks and which ones they are you are plainly mistaken, they will immediately know from your playstyle and communicate accordingly.
If you had more or an idea of game design you would take into account that a lot of players play solo. Moreover, how does the lithe of one player help another? Right, not at all.
Honestly, it's kind of ruined the game for me. I'm a stealth player at my core. I just like being sneaky I guess. I've tried some of the other perks OoO, etc... but it's just not my preferred playstyle. I'll keep my eye out for updates and hope for a fix. But I find myself playing the game less and less. Since the nerf. Though, if they ever do another 2v8 i'd be down for that for sure.
I have been doing fine with Off the record combined with Iron will and the occasional locker hide. Also at the start of the match I look out for a good looping structure to brace for Lethal and try not to look the fearful type. Still, yesterday a NWTH ratted me out, hiding very well right next to a gen. Lockers are my friends now, I guess.
the ONLY reason this needed a change is bc they’re running out of perk ideas and keep making “if a survivor touches their ball during chase, reveal their ball aura the next time they start repairing a gen”
Everyone going insane over these nerfs like “omg wow they’re babying killers so hard” don’t understand the whole problem with the perk is that it often meant just letting your whole team die for you because the killer just couldn’t find you. As someone who regularly plays with Distortion and uses stealth builds, this is a good change. You get rewarded for taking chases by being able to avoid others. If you have a problem with that, there’s a good chance it’s a skill issue.
Anti-mates are going to be anti-mates, no matter which perks. The amount of matches I had where the first one to get downed immediately dc's, or lets themselves die on first hook, it's insane. A surv "hiding all match" (who ever does this?? It's really rare) is at least still in the game. Also, these arguments are just a big fu to anyone who has been using Distortion for strategic purposes. I used it a lot with Deja vue and Resilience so I could work undetected on important gens. RIP to that build.
Also, when I have to pick my battles as a stealth player, the notion to get chased to gain stealth (as opposed to e.g. taking the heat for someone fresh off the hook) doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. Bbq? There are lockers. Weave? Not a chance with just one or two tokens. This perk is dead.
@the_legendary_yeeter It counters some aura reading, especially Lethal if the killer has it, but that's it. Tying getting tokens for a stealth perk to killer chases must be a special joke of the devs though. This perk is dead.
oh yes killer mains are happy now Now there is no punish for running full aura reading perks At this point is this game really horror? Aura reading has made the game boring as fuck like killers no longer use their brains to actually get better and get a better game sense and predict where survivors could be Now it's just daddy put a spoon in their mouths
Huh...i guess the change isn't as bad as i visioned it, I'm just suprised it's being touched because ever since they added the perk lethal persuer i began to use distortion due to the frequent use of LP. Nothing's more annoying then spawning and within 10 seconds I'm in a chase already and get downed. Any other use of a detection perk is a benefit but i never thought any of the detection perks were annoying at all, just LP. Yet since the release of the resident evil chapter I've never seen a single use of distortion, infact. Ever since jeff came out. Perhaps I've seen it here and there but it's never been a perk I've seen frequent use of both when i play as a killer and survivor. I suppose with BHvrs track record with touching perks that rarely see use this was bound to happen eventually.
I like how they destroyed distortion without addressing the issues that made it so popular, dare I say necessary, in the first place Sole survivor is now extremely superior, well until people complain about that I suppose.
I used it aggressively so this feels like a buff tbh, people played with this perk hiding all match doing jackshit, this honestly feels good at stopping that playstyle
solo survivor-only player who dislikes distortion rats, this perk is not it. especially in the same ptb where they introduced even more busted af aura reading perks for killers. distortion couldve been used to know which aura readings the killer is running and its gone now. only option to do the same is object, which the former distortion-rats will never use. it only makes killers much stronger and weak, scared survivors worse.
I would argue shifting the game from gen regression to other things is better. Opportunity cost balance. Killers can only bring 4 perks, and for every info perk they bring, the get one less regression/lethality perk. So, yes, for the build diversity to exist, other perks (aura, lethality etc) must be equally impactful as generator regression ones. This will create more diversity and shift the game away from a snoozefest it is. But I guess people are very very nearsighted and don’t even know what opportunity cost is
So survs whine when millers run gen regression and now whine when killers run aura read because the most troll and overpowered perk to counter aura read was nerfed? Survs won’t be happy until they take away killers m1 and make killers watch everyone bag at gates after sitting still for 5 minutes
@@kingol4801exactly distortion was overpowered it’s that simple. One perk countered every aura reading perk in the whole game for doing nothing. Survs whine about gen regression every game but whine even more when a single perk gets nerfed
How is a perk that hides your aura on lethal and then possibly bbq a "chase perk"?? Because it might counter I'm all ears or Zanshin, if the killer even has those? With no benefit at all if the killer doesn't run any aura perks? No, this perk is dead.
Finally a win for killer mains! There has been so many nerfs to killers strongest perks and now its time for survivors to lose a good perk, fair i think.
Definitely better. Ngl, I despised old Distortion, it was a free reward for useless survivors super easy to gain back; the only thing I would do for this new Distortion is increase the duration to at least 20 seconds, this would give a larger range of time you are hidden from the killer, but if you want to gain the effect back you have to actively play the game.
The fact i ran 2 aura perks and GOT NO VALUE because a 4 man swf was running distortion. I'm all for this change. Do you realize how easy it is to start a chase?
This perk is only a buff against scratch mirror Myers now other than that it’s a big nerf no more stealth builds. I hate the base game and want 2v8 the actual fun mode. Good. The game is better off without the likes of fence-sitters such as you. Play something else. And I don’t mean it in a toxic way. Play something else that fulfills your life and brings you joy. But by going into a multiplayer game with only dissatisfaction in mind, you are not only ruining your time, but also the time of others.
Need to be chased to reset it is the main change. Before you could keep your tokens active and avoid chases, now you literally cant because it'll disable and you'll be found eventually

@@TheTraveler980I approve as well😊
All it needs is the tokens but you gain them with chase time and it fixes the whole issue with the perk. Maybe tweaking the amount of tokens too
I really despise distortion as a killer main but the current version will make stacking auras miserable and it will increase further tunneling and slugging since you can repeatedly spam obnoxious aura reveals like Nowhere to hide, the dredge's perk (forgot what it's called but it will be S tier now for that) and so on to find the last survivor, OTR is the better version now with added protection and built in iron will. It should be like you said with 2 tokens at the start and recharging in chase, that way it's still has it niches but you need to take chases to gain the stacks not hide like little rats all game.

I am so sad to hear about Distortions death. I will never forget you.😢
Distortion was fine.
@@Stranzua Yep, I think that's where our difference with it is. I enjoy the stealth aspect of play. Prefer to remain hidden.
@@iphone2web I prefer to be stealthy but I realized that sometimes you want the killer to chase you. Trust me, I'm not very good at looping but the game is much easier when it's 1v4 than 1v3.
@Stranzua Distortion worked fine that way, because if you want the killer to chase you, you can always just show yourself. I mean, the perk didn't make you invisible ;)

Keep it at 3 tokens and simply restore 1 token for each chase. Dunno why they have to always overnerf things.
Why do they change every killer perk into aura reading one and then nerf the only survivor perk that could prevent it (not always)
Some killers won't load into match without their aura reading build.

I agree the Moris should be changed! I really want to be able to mori all survivors so they can photobomb the mori lol
Can it activate multiple times during chase ? Can it activate against I’m all ears, then activate again ?
It can activate once during chase and in order for it to activate again, the current chase needs to end and restart
so, it still prevent the killer from reading your aura? he doesnt talk about it on the video, so, it still a thing or it was remove and changed to 2 extra sec or no scratch marks
If you regain it and use it again, can you regain it again?
Hell yeah
still makes lethal pursuer useless

Stealthy players won't use it because it requires to seek chases, and why would you do that just to gain stealth? I seek chases to draw attention away from other survs or objectives, but not to gain stealth.
And survs that like the killer interaction have lots of better perks for their use.
Yep, RIP distortion.
why?
Because one perk (on a team that can bring 16 perks total) disabling killer’s build is a bad design.
Killer’s perks are more invaluable than survivor’s due to how scarce they are. Hence the balance change.
@@kingol4801 game doesnt allow survivor counter killer?
Distortion only works on the one surv who has it on, not on the whole team.

This comment made me laugh irl, thank u 😂😂😂❤
W change

I like how they destroyed distortion without addressing the issues that made it so popular, dare I say necessary, in the first place
Sole survivor is now extremely superior, well until people complain about that I suppose.
I used it aggressively so this feels like a buff tbh, people played with this perk hiding all match doing jackshit, this honestly feels good at stopping that playstyle
