    You hang in there, little rock, you hang in there! You’re perfect just the way you are, never change! You tell those big bad boulders to just move along - you don’t need that kind of pressure. You stand your ground!

    • @MendTheWorld
      @MendTheWorld 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok…. Here’s what I think. Although it looks smaller than some of the boulders that are swept past it, we are seeing only the upper part. The lower part is wedged against the concrete abutment. Likely the flowing water has eroded the smaller debris from underneath it, allowing it to settle further down. Also, it sits off at the edge of the channel, where the fluid velocity is a bit less, and most of the larger entrained boulders pass by to the left.
      Sorry to be so analytical. 🤓🙄.
      Or maybe it’s just a brave little boulder standing its ground! 😃

      It’s not just water. The ratio of sediment to water in a debris flow is close to 50/50, which gives the fluid mixture much higher bulk density than just water alone. Thus, some of those huge boulders almost look like they are “floating”, being partially buoyant, supported by the slurry mixture.

      God is great, it is the greatness of God Almighty and the guide of His power. However, most people do not believe in God, do not worship Him, and do not submit to Islam.

    This is a wet and wild the opposite of the slow interrupted flow I watched this morning. Thank you again.
    Have you considered remote cams from the side looking down in the drop holes?

    So no one is going to mention that lighting strike at 30 seconds?? That's proof lighting does strike twice and a third time!!!

      I noticed several lightning strikes taking almost exactly the same path. I'm sure there is a good known reason for this.

    the power of nature (in this video) makes me doubt that it took "millions/billions of years to form the grand canyon

      I witnessed a flash flood/debris flow in a stream near the base of the Grand Canyon while backpacking across from the South Rim to the North Rim. It scared the crap out of me, because it came with no warning. The beautiful, clear waterfall I was standing behind suddenly transformed with a roar into a raging torrent of mud, gravel, and cobbles (none, though, as large as in the present video). There was also a rush of wind when the stream transformed.
      There were thunderstorms in the area, but I couldn’t see where they were, because the horizon of the canyon walls was so high, but obviously it had begun raining like hell upstream from where I was. I was trapped behind the waterfall until the flow subsided.
      So fortunate as a geologist to have had such experiences!
      Anyway, the rx at the base of the Canyon may be as old as a billion years (actually 1.8 Ga), but the canyon itself is much younger, having formed during the uplift of the Colorado Plateau. Still seems so fast a process to remove so much material!
