Jewelry Making Tutorial: How To Make A Dangling Bead Necklace
    by Jennifer and Kitty O'Neil
    The O'Neil Sisters
    Running With Sisters
Impress your friends with a beautiful crystal necklace you made yourself! In this video, we'll show you what tools and materials you'll need including what headpins and chain to use. You'll learn how to make wrapped loops to attach the beads to the chain. And you will learn how to put a clasp on chain and give your necklace a professional finishing touch. Take what you've learned here to design your own dangling bead necklace!
To get started making your own dangling bead necklace, you will need open loop chain to attach the wirework to. To make the beaded crystal dangles, you’ll need faceted crystal rondelles. We used 20, five light green crystals, five dark green crystals, five periwinkle blue crystals, and five blue crystals. The beads are hung on ball head pins, and you’ll need 21 of those. Additionally you will need a clasp. We used a lobster clasp.
The tools you will need for this diy jewelry project are the three basic jewelry making tools. You will use these all the time! Chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers, and wire cutters. Here’s a video we made describing these tools:

Great beginners tutorial! :)Another way to find the center of your chain, is to thread the first and last loop onto a head pin. When you hold the head pin horizontally in the air you can easily see the centre loop. Thanks for sharing this cute ombre necklace!

What a beautiful dangling necklace! Really love it. I've done a bunch of these, they sell well and quickly off my fair stand! Though it never ocurred to me making the ombre effect... I love the blue hues but never thought of mixing blue and green. And the tip of marking the pliers is very useful, thanks for it! ♥♥♥

Thanks Honey! Yes, Jennifer's necklace is made the same way, just using crystal heart beads instead of rondelles. Here's the how-to for the Dangling Bead Necklace on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/how-to-make-a-dangling-bead-necklace/

This is a great tutorial, as well as a beautiful necklace! Your instructions, explanations, and organization of the video are excellent. You provided all the information I was looking for! Just 1 other comment; try using one of the headpins or other tool as a pointer (rather than finger) which will make it easier for viewers to see exactly where you're pointing. Thank you for this great information!
