You are right about the price difference. If/when it is so close to new, why buy pre-loved? For me it has to be a signifiant price difference to be worth it.
I’ve stopped buying pre-owned last year after a bad experience with Vestiaire Collective. I’ve bought on that platform a few times and everything went well until I decided to buy a Celine box bag. It was listed as never worn and passed the VC controls, but when I got it it had scratches and water damage. I contacted them, and was told that since it passes their controls, there was nothing they could do. So I had to list it for sale, highlighting all the issues and posting clear photos. I ended up selling it, but for a much lower price than what I paid, so that was very disappointing! So for me from them on it’s new or nothing. Thanks for this very interesting video 😊
I can't believe you uploaded this today. Because today was the day that, after so many years of being a devoted customer of Vestiaire, after recent months of their endless blunders and horrific service mistakes (bordering on scamming), I now decided this company is on its death spiral and I AM OUT. Never again. These people are just not serious anymore and the customer is a joke to them. I got a bag at the LV store two weeks ago and I was so stress-free, it was worth the extra money. Would you mind sharing the companies you have found as alternatives? If it's not too much trouble, of course.
Sorry to hear you have had bad experiences with VC but I agree with you. I have also enjoyed the boutique experiences but I miss the hunt for pre-owned deals 😂 A Retro Tale is my newest pre-owned store find!
If I buy 2nd hand I want things to look like new and still be a good deal - ideally 30-40% cheaper than new. I’ve only purchased through local consigners and never through a worldwide platform. I don’t always get the deal I want, especially on sought after discontinued items, but I do get the condition I want. That’s more important to me. I have two Puzzle bags, both bought new at Loewe because despite everyone saying pre-loved had great deals, they certainly didn’t look pre-loved at all to my eyes - almost all look tired and worn. The exceptions were almost boutique price so I spent a bit more and bought new, also having the peace of mind that they’re genuine.
I realised I can't really enjoy prelove items as much as new. It could be the smell, the worn strap, the stained dust bag, there's just no sense of satisfaction and I always end up selling it after a few months. For these reasons I only buy new from boutique now, especially bags I really love. Prelove is good for wanting to try out a new style, but the price has to be really good, like at least 30% off, whatever brand it is.
Definitely, there needs to be a proper discount. I’m not that bothered of wear of pre-owned bags (except smell, that I can’t) but that needs to be reflected in the price - a lot 😆
For me, im reserving pre-owned only for Chanel items. They're too expensive to buy new sadly (in my opinion). I agree with you on the authenticity of the items, it is scary to deal with the unthinkable. My personal experience, I have been slightly disappointed with my new (non pre-owned) items as the quality does not measure up with my pre-owned pieces, maybe it's just me overthinking things?
I have to agree with you about Chanel. I can’t see myself buying them new any time soon 😅 and definitely with certain brands the quality with new pieces is so disappointing
I am buying more preloved than new nowadays. But the preloved items that I have been purchasing are mostly either vintage or brands/items that don't hold their value. If you want preloved with a good guarantee, the companies that have those usually charge a bit more. If you're looking for a better deal on a riskier platform, maybe go for items/designs not often faked.
That’s true, nothing beats a good vintage deal! And there are styles that are not the most popular so chances are that they are not the most faked model

Agreed
Yes, there needs to be an amazing deal!
💯 - only difference: I do not really feel like buying brandnew that much anymore either 😂
😂😂 the bag rental is perfect solution for this!
Yeah, I wish I could access a great bag rental platform too. That would definitely curb my FOMO❤

Oh no, that’s bad! That probably is the fishiest part of VC: they go behind their own quality control and the consumers have no protection

Julia Rose Boston has some great items at good prices. I’ve bought a few items from them. I’ve had good experience with LuxCross as well.

Local consignments is a good way to go as well! And it’s important we go for the condition we are happy with

@@WithaTouchofLuxury yesss! I try not to buy online too. Odours can kill 😝
