    I worked for mulberry quite a few years ago it’s quite a pressured job , I used to love dealing with the people who had saved up for ages to buy a bag , I felt so excited for them . I still have many lovely pieces myself .

    I am driving 8 plus hours in the next couple of months to go to LV to buy my first handbag. I can’t wait.

    Yes! Don’t lie to significant others and don’t buy what you can’t afford. Luxury purchases should bring you joy, not anxiety. I have my own separate account for my luxury indulgences. My husband has one too- but his is for golf clubs 😂 So we don’t argue about purchases because it’s our own allocated monies for non essential items. I’m a researcher too- I plan my more expensive LV purchases for Hawaii since the prices are lower and that makes a difference with higher price point bags. I only buy preloved unless it’s a LE item that I missed out on and then I have it double authenticated. I live in a state with no sales tax so it’s not enough savings preloved. Great video- I really enjoyed and agree with all of your tips.

    Good points! Pretty much the same mistakes I've made. It's an expensive lesson to learn how to avoid making stupid purchases/feeling bad or guilty over them/regretting you ever got into it. Now I go for what I want, and I'm SO patient I can stalk an item for years if necessary, to get it for a price I'm willing to pay.

    I am all about the experience so I love going into the boutique and experiencing the new bags the new items and when they see me coming they already know get out the champagne 🥂 champagne 🍾 it’s such a fun experience. I do think it is a one on one personal experience on how one is treated when they go in the stores, you have to command the respect that you deserve when people don’t know how to treat you , you teach them......is I’ve lived by. great video.

    I just came across your videos today - and I have watched just 2. But I can safely say that I am you! I can relate to you sooo much!! Being guilty and waiting for the right time to disclose to my husband about my luxury purchases, enjoying that drink with the SAs and treating that as a mini vacation!! So relatable! Thanks! I am from India - subscribing to you right away :)

    I enjoyed you video as usual , I usually buy brand new and enjoy the boutique experience and being the first user , but I decided to change this strategy with lady Dior medium ( exactly the same as yours ) because of how Dior bags don’t hold the resell value , I kept searching till finding one in brand new condition with stickers with full package and saved more than 1000 dollar ! Honestly I enjoyed this experience more and currently this is my favorite bag

    If you’re buying investment bags stick to the classics - etc Chanel, Louis Vuitton, etc - bags u will get your money or more when selling. So yes, research the bag. If you’re buying bags that you have no intention of selling then it doesn’t matter. It’s the same when investing in anything, diamonds, houses, cars, stocks, etc. An investment piece should be just that - an investment. I think a lot of TH-cam influencers are just addicted to buying high end bags. Those watching may be influenced and just buy any bag because of TH-cam eg the Pochette Metis, Palm Springs Mini Backpack 😏.
    On another note - the SAs in high-end boutiques also look at the accessories you’re wearing . If you’re scruffy but wearing a high end watch or expensive jewellery - trust me, they notice. I’ve had experience of this. Myself and my partner walked into a Bond St boutique with ripped jeans, etc, very casual (and were ppl of colour - don’t get me started on that). I could see that the doorman clocked our watches. Staff were all over us like a rash 🙂. If you over dressed you stick out like a “sore thumb”, u look like a novice.

    Sensible and practical tips, Emma!👍👍 I buy so many things that some of my “arguments”with my family and boyfriend are when they think everything is new but it’s not because I just have so much of it all that it takes me awhile to rotate all my clothes, bags and shoes so they think because they don’t remember seeing it it’s just new 😂😂 And truth be told..... it often is 😬😬😬

    • @Emmaanders
      @Emmaanders  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Smith ‘Arguments’- been there haha. It’s the same as me not noticing other people swapping out their car- if you’re not into it you don’t keep track- and if you try ie. partners trying to keep an eye to ensure there are no new bits- it can be hard to spot one bag from another because I’m sure to some they all look the same. That’s why I panicked when my husband asked me the other day why I hadn’t used my neverfull in the azur.....he’s onto me 😮

    As probably the only straight guy in San Francisco who loves your videos, I have a brand suggestion: Moreau. I bought an iPhone X at their San Francisco store and though expensive ($410.) it just feels so good. They took over the store previously belonging to Goyard and it far surpasses Goyard it in leather quality. I would love to see your opinions on their products.

    I only purchase LV Online simply bc my local LV is just awful customer service wise the 2 or 3 times I’ve been in...contrasted with my experiences in Gucci and Chanel boutiques where I’ve developed relationships with specific SAs. I never buy pre loved bc I’m paranoid I will get a fake and I just prefer my luxury items to be new. Such a good point about the SA experience bc I refused to buy from this one Chanel SA bc he was just not that pleasant or helpful but I went back later and connected with my current SA. So yes try the boutique experience a few times until you’re comfortable BUT like my LV experience they only get a few chances then I move on, in that case to online.

    What a great video. Thank you. Love "Border Control" !! I can afford new designer bags now but I don't buy them. Brand new, perfect, that smell, the whole feel of a new bag... I put it away for "best", wont use it in case spoil it. I am hopeless. Preloved and I can relax, wear them, chuck them in the back of the car, enjoy them. I still do the dust bag, stuff them, box them and treasure them but I obviously need someone to break them in for me :) xx

    Great video! I totally agree with the tip about not/being dressed up to shop. I’ve been dressed great, in my opinion, and was treated poorly by a snooty SA (this only happed once ever in my life) but have gone into luxury shops all kinds of ways and always get treated so well. The boutiques are usually on my way home from work and by the end of the work day I’m looking pretty wilted. If it’s a big item I’ll even go to the gym/run other errands before going to the boutiques so I don’t have to worry about taking the item along. My thinking is I’m buying these items to use in everyday life and my everyday life isn’t always so glam. I go as I am. 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @Emmaanders
      @Emmaanders  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicestgirl Ever I’ve totally made the mistake of buying a large item early in my shopping day so now I’m like you- I tend to go at the end- or after work- there is no better pick me up! Xxx

    You are so awesome and so humble!!! Subscribed! I love your video's and you make a good point. I've made several buying mistakes because we live out in the country and the nearest luxury boutique is a 4 hour drive. I can't try things on and have ended up with items I didn't really love. Thank God for fashionphile and other resellers.

    I find that Louis Vuitton has particularly nice SA's. even my very first experience i had was amazing, super nice. whenever i go there, they are super helpful and nice. even when i went to a new boutique, they were extremely friendly. Chanel on the other hand, it's either my boutique who just has rude employees or they're just stuck up in general

    Fab video; great pointers. I was quite miffed that when I went in to Chanel in London and Manchester (my regular store) that I wasn't ever offered a drink (I did in the Paris store, but declined....I think), but waltzed in to Dior Manchester and the customer service is so much better! I think in your reference to buying preloved, you get reassurance if you buy from a consignment store like Designer exchange because you know they've checked it over and authenticated it for you for piece of mind; my husband goes mad if i'm looking at buying a luxury item/bag on eaby and he usually ends up giving me the extra money I need to get it from the store. I've gained so much more confidence when purchasing from luxury stores, I just go in and tell them what i'm looking for and even sometimes tell them that i've got a certain amount of money and i'm looking for earrings/brooch or whatever and they're fine with that! I too like to get a bit dressed up when buying luxury things in store, but I do like to dress up bit anyway when i'm spending a day in Manchester; as you say, it's all part of the fun xx

    I’m in London and went to Selfridges. I was treated terribly. I asked a sales associate for pochettes and she just said sorry we don’t have many of those left and walked away from me. Another one told me they couldn’t help me because they will close in 30 minutes and so many people were in front of me. I literally pointed to what I wanted and said just let me pay you for that. She said no...”this is a luxury store”. I seriously could’ve punched her in the face. I went to Harrods and bought two pieces at that Louis Vuitton where people were absolutely lovely. I literally hugged a couple of them before I left. Then I went online and bought something I couldn’t find in store. I’ll never go back to Selfridge’s.

    Great video! 👍 I ❤️ the experience of purchasing a handbag like my first Chanel m/l double flap bag from the actual Chanel store! I loved the experience of being offered a glass of champagne 🥂 while trying on some really expensive bags like Chanel! At the same time, I like to save $ so I’m all for purchasing from a reputable consignment store! I really like to do research to make sure it’s the bag that I really want and will enjoy for years to come! I really don’t like to sell things and I just want to grow my collection! Lol 😂 TFS. Have a great week! 😀

Beautiful handbags but, had I seen them in store, I would not have bought them. I rarely use them ☹️ All of my other purchases (done online) were perfect. I did buy 2 LV in Atlanta, GA at the Lenox Mall because I just had to see them first. 1) Pallas MM.....2) Montaigne GM in the Monogram Empriente

    Really interesting video and true lol as I had such a wonderful SA in LV in Bond Street and she knew I worked on the west end shows so would text her and run in fast looking like I couldn't afford a card.....she would also know I would only ever drink water as I was always popping in too! (She knew I was always driving) So when she left I was carefully looking around for a new SA but OMG I did a video on it as had such a bad time in LV when I was buying for my giveaway on here that I actually have not been back in since 😩 As you say shopping should be happy so I am going to go too another LV for a while 👜💕

    Great video. I’ve made two mistakes buying LVs. Number one I used a credit card for my first purchase and I planned to pay it off within 5 months which didn’t happen. Won’t do that ever again. Number two my husband asked me how much I paid for it and I said “a lot and you really don’t want to know”. He’s never asked me again about the prices. I do feel like I’m hiding or deceiving things in our marriage. He knows every item I have because I show them all to him when I buy something.

      Sandi Stroud start a TH-cam channel and show us!! That’s one of the big reasons I started mine. I joke with the hiding bags but I always need to tell my husband the actual price- or very near to it haha. I have Disney morals which mean that I feel guilty so easily so I find whilst initially telling him is hard-in the long run I’m sure it will pay off- though I’m still waiting for this bit xx

    i remember my grandma after a long day of work at home, you know, looking really rough with her dirty and sweaty clothes, smelling like some food she cooked before, went to buy a fur coat (back then fur coats were extremely expensive) the lady in the shop stared at her and then told her something along the lines of "i don't think you're able to afford any fur coat from us so i suggest you leave". which obviously wasn't true, she could have bought several ones but just the fact that she came in there looking like a homeless person they wouldn't sell her anything

      Julia Noëlle how very pretty woman! Shows the ignorance of the sales person more than anything xx
