    The state of PTM after over 1 year is surprising 😮

    helios 300 had bad thermals from the beginning. that's why newer predator models come with side vents as well. used it on my hp omen 16 and during full fan it can easily maintain 80-85 C at 100+ watts of cpu power draw during stress test. previously it throttled after reaching 97 C when i ran the stress test everytime it drew that much power. it can utilize a good cooling system on a laptop. smaller laptops or the ones with only two outward fan vents will see less of a difference as they are bottleneckes by the inherent vapor chamber like in your case. i compared it with arctic mx 4 newly pasted btw. it easily reached those temperatures and got worse over time due to pump out. ptm 7950 not only works better but will be not prone to pump out in laptops like normal thermal paste so we won't need to replace it from time to time for a very long time

      Yes good thing about PTM9750 replacement won't be necessary unlike thermal pastes.

      @@ArifFidaali K5 Pro has 5.3 W/mk. I have not met a worse thermal putty than it, plus it is hard to clean. There are tests of several thermal putty on the Snarks Domain channel.

    • @DrivingVertigo
      @DrivingVertigo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArifFidaali I've tried both, and the Upsiren thermal putty blows K5 out of the water; it's also easier to work with and less messy. Snarks Domain even shows K5 has issues with evaporation/separation at high temperatures. Also, I would suggest you try adding a 1mm flat heatpipe, to bond the two lower heatpipes that aren't connected together, with some thermal glue. It should help increase efficiency of the whole heatsink assembly.

    It lowered temps a little, and made cpu and gpu run at a higher frequency, so win/win, more fps and less temperature/thermal throttle

    Question, did you place the PTM7950 on only the gpu/cpu or elsewhere as well? Not sure whether you applied to heatsink since I see stuff there, but unsure if its a different pad.

    • @ArifFidaali
      @ArifFidaali  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes I just placed the PTM7950 on the CPU & GPU dies nowhere else. On the heatsink I had some left over GElid extreme pads which I was just trying to experiment by placing on the heatsink, unfortunately it doesn't do anything.

      @ArifFidaali thermal pads will not fill the microscopic gaps between the metal die and the heat sink like the thermal paste or ptm 7950 does. basically you put a worse conducting material than metal between your heatsink and your die with ptm 7950. so obviously it will perform way worse than without the pad, even if it has a higher heat transfer rate than the pad. the actual heat is transferred from metal to metal with gaps in between being filled with the thermal paste. higher number doesn't mean better cooling especially with solid pads.

    Please could you answer me a question, when PTM is below 45 degrees in solid state it will maintain a similar temperature to the thermal paste you were using before?
    One person told me on reddit that below 45 degrees the temperatures increased rapidly but other people said the opposite that they remained almost the same as the thermal paste and it caused me confusion, if you could share your experience I would be very grateful.
    Excuse me if I express myself incorrectly, English is not my main language and I use Google translator.

    • @ArifFidaali
      @ArifFidaali  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes at below 45 degrees the PTM will have similar temps as thermal paste in my experience with my Predator Helios laptop I get similar temps like when I apply Arctic MX 4. I also play around with clock speeds using Throttlestop to further reduce temps. Check out my video on Throttlestop in the description.

    • @Devarahman
      @Devarahman 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Same with me, but my application to my laptop takes a very long time and so hard because is so thin. I also applied it to the GPU and there was a slight tear (will it affect the GPU which is not exposed to my laptop's thermal or not) which caused it to not be completely flat. But overall, I use it for low daily gaming with mid end gaming being good too. No doubt and no problem with it, my GPU temp reaches a stable 68-80 when gaming and when idle it reaches the 41-46 range and for the CPU 64 when playing and 46 when idle. I applied it 1 week ago, maybe if there are significant results (really lowering the temperature) I will let you know here later

    Considering the efforts and price it costs i would say just get Gelid GC4 its new, thicker with a viscosity of 1000 poise which is equal to 1,00,000 centipoise. For a laptop as i can see using good quality thermal paste is still better like repasting every year and keeping ur system clean. Because judging from your video and seeing other laptop users using PTM7950 phase change the results aint that impressive on laptops. Also the melting point here is 45°c not 40°c
