I've seen Yngwie in '86, '93, '08 and '16. My wife went with me last time and she loved it.

I saw Yngwie many years ago on the, "Odyssey" tour, featuring Joe Lynn Turner on vocals, he gave a masterful performance, that I would never forget, and I consider myself blessed to have had the privilege of
seeing such an amazing artist in a live performance.....🎸

I am always amazed at Yngwie's fluidity in his playing. Even though he is shredding and playing fast you can still articulate all of the notes he's playing clearly.

Yngwie is not arrogant........he is a totally confident self-made man. If people can not handle that, then that is their problem! I met Yngwie briefly in 1996 and he was a lovely guy, and that was after a long concert in London, England and he was about to return home. That was on his Inspiration Tour and one of the tracks he played was UK In The Dead Of Night, which was really cool!

Dream Theater then Kansas and now Yngwie - I love your taste.! Yngwie is obviously a great guitarist but I think his song writing skills are underrated. I would suggest Dreaming ( Tell Me) or Brothers as these show he can pack a lot of emotion into his playing as well.

I love this song, but I've always wanted to see Yngwie play it live.

36 years ago I got his first album. One of my favorites rock albums to this day.
By the way, the Japanese band Unlucky Morpheus just released a cover of "Far Beyond the Sun", with a violinist doing the lead guitar. If you both want to listen to this version, make sure she knows the original, because it has that extra that Ynwie gives.

I'm always reminded of that scene from Amadeus where they tell Mozart there were 'too many notes".

That’s exactly why we said it! We LOVE that movie and Nick basically knows every line by heart! Glad someone caught that! 😂

Some people (a lot of Swedes...) say he plays with no emotion. Swedish jealousy! Yes I can say that cause I'm also swedish...BUT I love Yngwie's music. I say he has a lot of emotions and being as good as he is he gets away with his diva manners.
He has done some really bad things, espcially during the years he was drinking and "drugging", but as fas as the music goes... he is wonderful!

    • @EgoShredder

Yngwie on his earlier albums plays with such passion and emotion, and at times seat of the pants melodic phrasing and scalar runs that there is simply nobody like him. A great example song that encapsulates everything good about him is "Fire" from his 3rd album.

Well it also my first song of Malmsteen I listened in 1993. And that album Fire & Ice is still the best.

Haven't listened to him too much (as Swedish as I am...) but there was definitely some Al di Meola influences in this one.
I've got his Concerto Suite though - good stuff!

    • @NicknLex
      @NicknLex  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes definitely hear di Meola. I am sure Yngwie was influenced somehow in his youth, they are actually neighbors if I am not mistaken. - Nick

Hey guys!! Great reactions!! The only ding is...his name is pronounced Ing-vay. Believe me...for years I thought the same thing. \m/ Again, please give a listen to Fates Warning. Songs like Point of View, Through Different Eyes, Monument and A Pleasant Shade of Gray Part III. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks! We did know but it’s so much more familiar to pronounce. It’s actually means ‘Little Viking’ - random trivia haha. Nick got to know him and listen to him while living in Mexico and everyone pronounced it that way since for Spanish speakers the proper way’s sound is awkward so he’s just so used to it. Thanks again and glad you enjoyed! :) - Lex

Just watching this video and you hold your book in the camera, I've got the Rising force LP :-) Yngwie is one of the best with no doubt, what I didn't like so much, when I saw him live was his posing. I know it's part of the business, but if it is too obvious, if the artist looks to the audience to see if they notice it (I never forget Ronnie Montrose in 85 in a little club in L.A. doing that aaallll the time) .... but I enjoyed the music. Nick, are you envious, if I tell you, that I saw at the Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium in 2005 Yngwie, Dio, Dream Theater and Iron Maiden in one day ? Graspop is a great festival, been there many times since then .... and in the last years the line up was even better than Wacken ... I know, Wacken-Maniacs will hate me for that, but it's my personal honest opinion ... I was in Wacken 2011, when it was still ok and had lots of great bands, but in the last years it didn't really attract me ...

Abrazo grande y me suscribo!

Buenas reacciones!

Besos

I would love to see a reaction to my favorite song ever, Halo Of Flies by Alice Cooper. From 1971s Killer this was when Alice Cooper was still a band, not just a man. I think you both would appreciate the musicianship and transitions of this song. Take care young folks th-cam.com/video/fGOD1-NtxH8/w-d-xo.html
