You're Using Vignettes WRONG in Your Photography...

  • Adding a vignette is one of the best ways to can finish off your photo edit, yet so many photographers are doing it wrong in Lightroom. So many of the photo editing softwares have sliders that allow you to easily apply a vignette, but often times will result in a photo that just doesn't look good.
Instead, I create a totally custom vignette in Photoshop that both brightens the center of my photos and darkens the edges. It protects the bright spots in your image, and it totally customizable to easily dial in the perfect vignette for your photography.

man this is the best vignette video I've watched. I couldn't figure out how to transfer the action from photoshop beta to photoshop, so i had to track this video back down through my history because I couldn't find one as good as yours!

I recently found your channel, have subscribed, and have been enjoying your style of teaching. This vignette method is quite unique. I'll be giving it a try. At around 6:25 you mention that a new layer should be added. Perhaps you can add a text correction saying that a layer GROUP should be added. Thanks for the excellent tutorials. I look forward to learning more intriguing techniques from you.
Added a comment...so I spent a few minutes, following your steps and created the action. As you mentioned in your tutorial, once the action is created, the vignette is quickly added to the image. And then the fun really begins.
I experimented by duplicating the darken layer, adjusting the opacity, as well as adding a mask to the Vignette group, and painting in or out of areas. Your technique is wonderful.
I've used the in-program modules in various programs. Your technique is superior to all of them. And with the created action it doesn't take much longer. Thank you. This will be my go-to method to create vignettes as other software I use have Photoshop plug-ins.

Please do a video about cropping, image sizing and exporting especially for Instagram.. Is so frustrating to post my beautiful pictures after editing and only to get a bad result

I'm using Lightroom Classic. Some of the features you presented are not available in my copy, especially the Fill feature in Edit. How do I deal with this?

I would consider reaching out to Adobe support!

Keep getting a message that the feather command is not currently available. What now?

Hmmm. Not sure what could be causing that. Are you making sure to select the correct layer?
