Just did my nexus interview at the Detroit land border. Easy to book and interview lasted 10 mins. The interviews can’t be done online cause they needed my fingerprints and took a current photo of me. Not sure about renewals as it was my first time.

Well, she made a great point. Why can’t they conduct the interviews by video. N why do you have to do it all over again to renew your nexus card? She made two excellent points that should be taken in consideration, at least the renewal portion of it. But I would say whatever country you live in, say the US then you could do a video conference for Canada but you must show up in the US. That way they can take your picture and verify that it’s you. And vice versa for Canadians. Meaning that Canadians Can do the interview for the US side by video but must show up in person for the Canadian side to verify that that you and get whatever done like pictures fingerprints however that works. If you do it like this, then you could have a verification place not just on the borders, but throughout Canada and throughout the US.

I would think it be more important for an in person interview with the boarder control agent of the country you are not a citizen of.
Those agents are screening you for entry into there country. Honestly, I think it is quite nice that the US agents are available at Canadian airports that are not near the boarder. US citizens must be near a land port of entry for the interview.

It can be over zoom and when you go there you must check in for a face to face meeting

My question is to all Nexus employees canada and USA is as border workers why do they want to be exempt from any country,s laws in my opinion what do they want to commit against these laws?

When I had my interview a few years ago the office i went to (in Vermont) was on the US side. The Canadian station was a 2 minute walk away.

I have my Nexus interview in May in Port Huron, Michigan.
was the interview fast easy process?

@@Booze129 It was easy...no problems. My hunch is that the in person interview is just to make sure that the applicant isn't a raving lunatic. They've already done a background check so they know that you don't have a criminal record before your interview takes place.

Nexus would be ok if you lived close to the border. I live 400 miles away in Maryland

@@pmcpmc8005 Yes,it seems that NEXUS was designed mainly for Americans and Canadians who cross the border frequently. They say that 90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the border so I'll bet that more Canadians have one than Americans. Toronto is twenty miles from Buffalo. Montreal is 30 miles from Burlington Vermont. Another major Canadian city is a 10 minute drive from Detroit.

We just had our interview a few months ago at thousands islands. Had U.S. interview on U.S. side, and Canadian on Canada side. Each side took about 10 minutes. They did take our photo and fingerprints on the U.S. side. A few hours drive to get there though..l
