Love it too. It's a great feature. The volume is controlled digitally via the FPGA. So you get no channel imbalance at lower volumes (as you would with an Ifi Diablo or a Zen Can). Previously had the Mojo and the Qutest. But the Hugo2 is favourite Chord device so far. Use it at home but also take it to the office with me and use it on the train too.
Have you had a chance to try out the various RCA adapters from PW Audio such as the regular, 1950s, or Orpheus editions? If so, what made you go with the 1960s iteration?
Good morning from Toronto ☕️ The Sen’s 650’s is one of those headphone that everyone uses as a base ..myself included. Great review and very informative 👍🍕☕️
Good review as ususal :) From time to time I have some ideas to get a second hand Hugo 2. I feel a little bit encouraged. Would love to see your comparison of the Odin to Noble Viking Ragnar, somday :)
Thank you for the review I appreciate it and honestly never had this on my radar due to the age and had the Qutest and wasn’t a fan. But I sold my Dave to get the May KTE and was also disappointed way to much air treble frequency with my setup and felt I made a huge mistake going to it, specially when a new Dave MScaler is around the corner. Anyways I can totally agree on the Hugo 2 being a little Dave. 1. Are you going to buy a Chord 2go? 2. Does the PW Audio 4.4mm really give you more power? Thank you 🙏
what would you recommend for me . i am getting the sony ier z1r for occassional music and heavy gaming. which would provide better imaging and sound stage the chord hugo2 or the mojo 2 . Thanks . yes i said gaming . haha
The Hugo 2 is the better option in every aspect including spatial imaging but it’s also more than twice the price and if it’s mostly gaming, the mojo 2 should be your go to. Unless you are looking for mainly critical listening, save your money.
Rob Watts is still busy working on other things. He won't go back to updating Hugo 2 until after his ultima (choral range) dac and the new m scaler have been released. Those are his main priorities right now.
I’m annoyed about the aptx Bluetooth being an Apple TV user - they could have featured aac which I don’t think is supported? Tried it off an Nvidia shield tv and then indeed you can use aptx, but Apple TV still sounds way better and it doesn’t have aptx…
sound good but, micro usb in devices from chord for that price is just mockery. Nonsense, High end dac with outdated flimsy micro usb which need replacement much faster than type c
@TheNuare I absolutely love it for taking it to the office with me. I did have Mojo before and after that a Stax SRM-D10 with the SR-03 MkII electrostatic in ears (with additonal covers to make them closed). Before that a Cayin N3 tube dap... None of those comes close to Hugo 2.
I'm so dissatisfied that after buying this toy for 2.5 thousands, it even can't work stable. The battery holds 1-2 hours. Sometimes the hugo just turns off every 10-20 minutes without any adequate reason. The sound itself is good, but there are alternatives under 1000 eur.. The killer feature of this device is portability but with such battery it just doesn't serves as it should. Found too many complains about it on the forums from other people. So it's not just my case. The general advice: request device change through support. Some people wait for 1-2 month and the luckiest got defective device even twice. Please, release working product before starting to sell overpriced cases and cables!
I have changed batteries in both the mojo and Hugo 2 sounds like that’s what it needs buy a battery for about 100 bucks I imagine you bought it used that’s why the battery is dying so quick Nobody is complaining about the battery brand new after looking in the forums almost every single case is bought used or years of usage. Batteries don’t last forever Buy new batteries bro Problem solved its super easy to change in the Hugo 2
I love the volume wheel on hugo 2. Great microadjustment and very satisfying to roll up/downwards !
I agree

Thanks for the review I am getting the smaller Mojo 2 I like the high roll off and warm mode it will complement my v shape ier z1r
Good choice!
I tried to compare Hugo 2 over Fiio M17. Despite Hugo 2 being old, its still sounds a lot better than latest Fiio M17.

For HD 800s, can Mojo 2 be a perfect match?

Sure!
This drive Arya Stealth well too ? (Without any external amp)?

What to prefer, Hugo 1 or Mojo 2? Talking about only sound quality

Can You type down the Music You reference to, please.
And the cable names.
Ignoring the EQ and price, in the default settings, does the Mojo2 have any sonic advantages over the Hugo2?
Nope. Smoother and warmer though.
@@amplifyaudioreviews K. Thanks for the getback
Thank you for the review, really appreciate it. Did you try it with Hifiman Arya Stealth? Do you think it will be a good pairing?
Good pairing if you like a more analytical sound, I personally prefer them paired with the Ifi micro black
If used with iems Hidisz S9 Pro runs miles around this
Curious what you plug it into on the go? Your phone or your Sony DAP? Thanks for a great interesting review as always!
Both!
I connect it to my tablet and have USB audio player pro and Qobuz on that.
Did I hear correctly there is no Hugo 3 on the horizon? Great review as always but sad no
Update 😊

Do you think it can drive an LCD-5 without extra amp well?
Yes, Audeze and Chord pair well.
Bit tough if you’re colour blind. And on a very hot day does it get too hot with that leather cover on?
hi does pw audio really work ? its unbalanced circuit board. Is it worth buying ? thanks
It's just an adapter. The connection will still essentially be single ended with a common ground.
You need to link to your stuff. Can’t find “Ermo Audio Dual” and you speak fast with an accent.

Should take it out of the case when showing a product. Just a tip I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking
lol of course I'm watching this on a sennheiser 650

Not sure what you do with them but they last years for me...
@@saschamilenkovic4320 i guess you not using it for travel with external power bank
@TheNuare No. Battery life is great. Longer than a transatlantic flight. No need. Unless I'd spend days on end travelling I would not need it.

Buy new batteries bro
Problem solved
its super easy to change in the Hugo 2
For $4500 this is another example of, you got ripped off
Their odd design puts me off.
Hey, Is your ears made proprietary by god himself ?
Coz i think not everyone can make differences from all these dac/amps
U can get better options for cheaper in 2024
Does not compare to alternatives so this vidéo is useless
Nonsense.
oh again this expensive toy device with different colour discoteq lights and glitching menus
Oh yeah? You got anything that is better? 😂
