- Car Radio NOT Loading SD Cards mp3 in Audi TT Mk2 [SOLVED]
Your car is not reading SD Cards to play mp3 and display the name of the songs? 8 GB, 16 GB, Sandisk, Kingston, ... not working?
In this video I'll explain the problem and provide the solution.
I am working on an Audi TT Mk2 2007, but most likely the solution works for the VW, Škoda, Seat, and other cars manufactured before 2007.
Since May 2006, there is new flash memory product available on the market, which is called SDHC, looks and acts exactly same as the old SD, but does NOT work with old radios, laptops, cameras, and other devices. SDHC Stands for High Capacity SD Memory Card and has capacity ranging from 2 to 32 GB, while the (no HC) SD card holds only up to 2 GB max. The difference between the SDHC and SD is in the file system, FAT32 vs. FAT16.

I have an SD HC 16GB card and works, I have it formatted as FAT32 and limited partition to under 4GB, not sure what is the limit it can read. Anyone knows these specs ?!
guys, the most important thing is to have the sd card with maximum capacity supported by your version of audi mmi (as i read mk1 versions have 4G, mk2 versions 32G) so if you already have a sd card above those maximum capacities, just format them, delete partitions, and create a partition below that maximum capacity (leaving the remaining as free space) i just did this with my verbatim 64G. initially didn't work, was unreadable by my audi (a4 b8), and now is working with 30G, after doing what i wrote earlier.

Ok, the problem is not the HC mark, it’s the capacity. The system doesn’t support more than 32gb, so as long as your microsd is >32gb you should be fine. Other than that, just make sure it was formatted with fat32 and you’re good.
HC means High Capacity. I believe over 32gb it's considered HC. Thanks for the precision and details on this man! Trying to figure this out for my wife.
I can confirm that this is correct for my 2010 Audi A5. MicroSD card 16BG HC
I have a 16gb kingston microsd card with the sd adapter it was already formated with fat32 but it still says unreadable, is it because the song name was too long or perhaps it just doesnt work?

Mine works fine, but with one small issue. The songs are displayed twice. It displays all the songs first with - infront of them and those songs do not play at all, and then it displays them the normal way and I can play those. Anyone knows how to fix it?
is the .mp3 in the names of the songs really needed?

My car can read the sd card (dont need an adapter) but the songs in the sd card is not showing up on screen. Anyone know how to fix this?

I have done everything the same but used 8gb does this matter? And does it matter the songs length?
Yes and yes. You can only use max 2 GB SD card. 8 will not work. If length is more than 64 chars it will not be shown, because it is 8 bit architecture -> 8x8 = 64.

For me it says Data Corrupted and doesnt let me chose Card 1 :(
It sound like the SD card is bad, it has boot sector errors. You can use some drive restore software on the card or just buy new one (its like 5 eur tops). Just formatting will not solve the issue, as the bad sectors on the drive must be canceled out, so that read/write operations ignore these sections. Best luck!
dr. sunka thanks bro ! Yesterday i was in the audi service they said its the Navi itself doesnt work it doesnt even now accept CD's ... they said i must buy a new one or they will put it in a computer and restore everything ...
The card can hold data but can this play it, the is designed something else. Even if you reformated it it problem wouldn't work. I bought a cheap sd from ebay with same problem. New and better sd card might work. Put song in format and put song in separate folder by small amounts so the car stereo can read them olders

Hi, its hard to tell without having the card in my hands, but check if the format of the songs is .mp3 and not .flac or something else.
Try to put songs in separate folder. 10, in fold 10 in another so on. The car stereo my be able read all the song all jammed together in one folder and if that work try the format
The songs names too long, try rename the songs to shorter it works for me :) And of course, put them separate folder
hi the name of the song cant be longer than 60 char and the song have to end with mp3. i hope this gonna help

I have SD Card 8GB and work
I have also a 8gb SDHC and it works in my RNS-E
MK1 RNS-e supports up to 4GB sd cards while MK2 supports SDHC cards up to 32GB.

@@stearless , there are 2 generations of RNS-E. MK2 is the one with LED screen, better processor and up to 2 x 32 GB SDHC card slots. MK1 only supports SD cards up to 4 GB each.
Worked on my audi a6 2009 had to buy of amazon because they dont sell them cards anywhere else

most likely not because cards with no HC mark are less than 2gb capacity and 32gb is considered HC (High capacity)

Awesome video really big help :) I’ve done what you said and some music does play. Some music doesn’t play for some reason it just skips it:( Any idea why?! The file is mp3 as well, so I don’t understand!
Probably encoding or bitrate of these mp3s is not good.

I bought this exact SD card from Amazon and it doesn't work, Transcend 2GB SD, formatted FAT16. I have other 1GB and 2GB that work fine, but not this one. Audi A4 B7 2008

Yes. 4GB SD cards also work. I used one on my MK1 RNS-e in Audi A4 B7.

@@that.bogdan4423 only on MK2 units. MK1 supports up to 4GB SD cards only. MK2 also supports SDHC cards.

@@mevio4665 , nu prea se mai gasesc de cumparat carduri SD, eu am gasit SH prin targ. trebuie formatat FAT32 si sa ai grija ca titlul melodiilor sa nu depaseasca 64 de caractere cu tot cu extensia .mp3.
