It’s amazing how much peace has come into my life and for my family as well for listening to the prophets and apostles.
The principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ are simple and clear. The prophets and apostles reiterate those teachings to remind us.
As members of the church, we are reminded to search all truths out for ourselves. Think for ourselves. Love and have compassion for others.
The problem is that sometimes we don’t look within ourselves and figure out what we need to change. Sometimes we focus on others to the point that they get irritated. And understandably so.
I know when I wasn’t going to church, some of the members and family members (my parents and brothers) alike meant well. But it was irritating to me.
When I chose to live the principles of the gospel for myself and for my own family’s sake (my wife and children), everything changed for the better. More love and peace in the home.

The fact that these words are seen as "bold" is sad. The prophet is saying "Choose God, you are sinning if you fall into temptations, you have the ability to choose the higher path" and somehow that's now "offensive" to so many of the rising generation. This needs to be spread more, so it isn't a shock to people when they find out they do in fact need to follow God's commandments. This message is so relevant and needs to be spread further and further.

@@karadanvers6136 Coradon you are absolutely right. The music does have a impact on us and now that I'm older I listen to the more positive christ-like music this way I get to work with the spirit everyday instead of every once in awhile. The spirit has filled that empty place in my heart where Christ is supposed to be in each of us. I have disposed of a lot of that kind music and hardly ever listen to the radio anymore. Before growing up I was glued to the radio and the music and I do remember where some of that music took me and it wasn't near the spirit of the Lord and the Holy Ghost is my companion. Repentance is the best because I am tired of walking alone without the armor of God. I'm tired of fighting my way through life and now, my life gets better every year. I enjoy the peace and joy also life is good! Being grateful everyday has a major impact on my life now!

Missionary memory: The Branch President in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, used to love reading/listening to Elder Packer's conference talks. He was a school teacher, school age group was the US equivalent of elementary school. He had funny gestures he'd do which I'm sure made him a hit with the kids, mimicking Tony the Tiger - "Yo soy un Tigre! When we received the recordings of the conference talks, we'd watch them on our PDay at his home. He'd look at my companion and me, seeing this beloved apostle he'd say in his over the top way, "Boyd K. Packer es potente!" Amen. Love that guy. Nice family, too. And yes, I do miss Elder Packer, Neal A. Maxwell, and especially President Benson.

    I love this message for a few reasons;
    1. Heavenly Father didn't give us the power to procreate as a punishment nor something to be taken lightly, it is one of the most sacred and amazing gifts.
    2. At the end of the day regardless of how many individuals try to make an argument about doing "what makes you feel good" you can see many people who go throughout their life feeling empty, angry, and/or sorrowful when all they pursue is an unchaste lifestyle whether straight or gay.
    3. When you learn to see people as living human beings and not objects, it is so much easier to feel God's love for them and find charity in your own heart for them.

It must be truly disappointing and sickening for our leaders to see the corruption and perversion amongst the youth and adults also in the Church. Whereas they are role models of conduct, fidelity and virtue and truly love and respect their spouses, but then have to deal with the members who have gotten caught up in the corruption of our times, it must be almost more than they are able to bear. Still, they are there to comfort, help and strengthen, and also to lead by their examples.
We live in a dispensation of time where the higher Priesthood is here and in abundance to worthy adult male members of the Church, regardless of race. What a great privilege! The Temple ordinances, sealing ordinances and keys of these have been restored to the earth! We should take full advantage of these privileges and bless ourselves and our families to quench the fiery darts of evil in our midst. Godspeed to us so to do. 🤟 👍

Here's one of the guys (along with Oaks) who said that the way to gain or strengthen a testimony is to BEAR the testimony. In other words, repeatedly jump up in public and declare that you KNOW something to be true, when you know no such thing. I guess the idea is that if you do that enough, you'll have even yourself convinced. Kinda like in the movie "The Music Man," where "Professor" Harold Hill talked about the "think" system, where if you just think about music enough, you'll become a musician. Packer also said that not all truth is good or valuable. In other words, if truth happens to embarrass or question "the brethren" . . . then No NO! Don't be messing about with truth.

Jesus taught that truth comes from God.
"While there are some “evidences” for gospel truths (for example, see Psalm 19:1; Helaman 8:24), scientific methods will not yield spiritual knowledge. This is what Jesus taught in response to Simon Peter’s testimony that He was the Christ: “Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 16:17). The Apostle Paul explained this. In a letter to the Corinthian Saints, he said, “The things of God knoweth no man, but [by] the Spirit of God” (1 Corinthians 2:11; see also John 14:17)."

    • @spellbindery1

Boyd K. Packer once spoke with an atheist about conveying knowledge. His friendly challenge was to describe the taste of salt to someone who has never tasted salt.
Whereas it may be impossible to convey that knowledge, it doesn't remove the truth that one can know what salt tastes like.
God has given ways for individuals to learn knowledge. The method is similar to the scientific method, with a crucial difference: this knowledge cannot be forced upon an individual if they don't want to know it.
