We no longer celebrate Diwali but have our own festival called Bandi Chor. We also mark the birth anniversary of every single Guru with birthday cake in Jatt Sikh Gurdwaras. I do not recognise any of these practices from my Jatt Sikh childhood in 70s and 80s England, which included exposure to the Mahabharata and Ramayana tv series from India, visits to the Mandir and photos of Hindu deities alongside Sikh Gurus and Baghat Singh in our home. 1984 + Dehli pogroms + disappearances were a game changer and I would say that Jatt Sikhs are in an existential crisis as a result but the truth will set us free thanks to conversations like this. There is also a global trend towards understanding and prioritising mental health and well-being, which leads back to the spiritual path ironically! In conclusion, there is hope for the future because above all people want peace - in the soul and in the mind, in the home and outdoors. We will return to simpler times eventually. Thanks again. Rehatnamas still serve as some sort of documention of Sikh"maryada" of the times. I for one don't believe that these granths should not be accorded same authenticity as that of guru granth sahib. Everything needs to be seen in the right historical context in my view. But that's not possible in Sikhism as it's practiced today. So the core problem is lack of critical appreciation of Sikh Theology and History , due to abrahmisation of sikhi by Sikh Clergy led by SGPC, Damdami Taksal & even so called "missionaries".

The Sikh Misls were majorly Jatt Sikhs (i.e. 10 out of 13 Misls were Jatt led). But even this Jatt-Sikh hatred for Hinduism & India (of course not all) is so incredible. There is mentioned in Vahi of Pargna Thanesar that Guruji has ordered on Teusday (Baisakhi day)1698 CE that Kesh Kanga, Karha Kirpan n Kachhahra are must for Sikhs. It is mentioned in book "Guru ki Sakia" written by Piara Ssingh Pasam Padam. When I checked through Google Engine Baisakhi was was on Wednesday instead of Teusday. Plz comment on this.

What does Puneet mean that the Rahitnamas in the 18th century do not mention the 5ks? Bhai Nand Lal Ji clearly mentions ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਿ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਈ ਪੰਜ ਹਰਫ਼ ਕਾਫ਼। ਹਰਗਿਜ਼ ਨਾ ਬਾਸਿਦ ਈ ਪੰਜ ਮੁਆਫ਼। ਕੜਾ ਕਾਰਦੋ ਕੱਛ ਕੰਘਾ ਬਿਦਾਂ। ਬਿਨਾ ਕੇਸ ਹੇਚ ਅਸਤ ਜੁਮਲਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਂ। It clearly is stated by Bhai Nand Lal who passed in 1713 around 14 years after Vaisakhi 1699. The mere exsistance of a these verses by one of the most beloved poets in Guru Gobind Singh Jis darbar nullifies his whole premise that the 5Ks were formalized by the British. Seriously Puneet, go read and research the historical sources, writings and rehitnamas of the Sikhs. You will find plenty of references to the 5Ks. I am also going to suggest you go and read Sri Gur Panth Parkash completed in 1841 by Bhai Rattan Singh Bhangu, the Grandson of Bhai Mehtab Singh, that clearly mentions the 5ks in his work. This work was completed before the British took over in 1846, and the work was in direct response to the denigration and concoction of lies being told by Bute Shah, a Mughal historian tasked by the British to write the history of the Sikhs.

I personally believe tat Sikh emphasis on some kind of monotheism right from nanak was actually a response 2 the political situation of tat time..his emphasis on "ek" onkar was to make our indic faith more acceptable 2 Islamic rulers of tat time.. it was an indigenous indic response 2 the islamic invasions & destruction of our society & religion.. similarly, The Singh sabhas, Arya samajh, brahmo samaj etc was a similar response to a foreign power tat had completed defeated our indian/asian society on every front.. be it militarly, philosophy or economically.. all these new additions & interpretations to sikh panth and even hindu & mslms came only after our then elites(zamindars, Rajas etc) started visiting Europe & were mesmerized by the development there..

There were actually many great “jatt Sikhs” even during the time of the gurus such as baba bhudda singh whose family name was a Randhawa, another one probably one of the greatest jatt Sikh warriors of all time baba deep singh who was a Khera, maharaja ranjit singh was a jatt Sikh, nawab kapur singh was a jatt, Jassa singh alhuwalia was also jatt. So in history sikh history in general, jatt Sikhs have made a lot of sacrifices, in zafarnama guru gobind singh mentions to Aurangzeb come to a certain village (forgot the name of the village) but he told him don’t worry the Brar clan which has received amrit will not hurt. Brar is a jatt Sikh last name, so ya many examples.

Ps here in the UK it is Chabeel Day in the ‘Jatt’ Sikh calendar. We no longer celebrate Diwali but have our own festival called Bandi Chor. We also mark the birth anniversary of every single Guru with birthday cake in Jatt Sikh Gurdwaras. I do not recognise any of these practices from my Jatt Sikh childhood in 70s and 80s England, which included exposure to the Mahabharata and Ramayana tv series from India, visits to the Mandir and photos of Hindu deities alongside Sikh Gurus and Baghat Singh in our home.
1984 + Dehli pogroms + disappearances were a game changer and I would say that Jatt Sikhs are in an existential crisis as a result but the truth will set us free thanks to conversations like this.
There is also a global trend towards understanding and prioritising mental health and well-being, which leads back to the spiritual path ironically!
In conclusion, there is hope for the future because above all people want peace - in the soul and in the mind, in the home and outdoors. We will return to simpler times eventually.

But nuance is important.
Sikhs are 30 % of Punjabi Population of 3 crores i.e. 90 lac
Only 5-7% of Jat Sikhs directly support extremist views and khalistani people. eg. Simranjeet Maan hardly gets 5 thousand votes everytime in a MLA election.
90% of khalistanis in 90s were khalistanis.
You see historically it wasn't Indian state / central agencies who defeated khalistani terrorism in Punjab , but Punjab Police - again mostly manned by same Jatt Sikhs.
KPS Gill an apt exemplar.
But yea these khalistani mindset people - #McSikhs hold away in Sikh Clergy & Politics - a problem similar to Islamist Society. Also they are more free, more organized and active on Propaganda.

@@SM-ud3xy Its all "poor scholarship" to put it simply. Lots of confusion. No one exactly knows who wrote Dasm Granth and Sarbloh granth. Rehatnamas still serve as some sort of documention of Sikh"maryada" of the times.
I for one don't believe that these granths should not be accorded same authenticity as that of guru granth sahib.
Everything needs to be seen in the right historical context in my view. But that's not possible in Sikhism as it's practiced today.
So the core problem is lack of critical appreciation of Sikh Theology and History , due to abrahmisation of sikhi by Sikh Clergy led by SGPC, Damdami Taksal & even so called "missionaries".

He began his historical book in 1809 and completed it in 1841.
He made them recite and repeat the name of the timeless/eternal, And bade them shout the slogan, "Victory be to God". Thereafter, he poured the cupped elixir five times into each one's head, As well as made each one of them drink five draughts of this elixir. (11)

1. Nihang Singhs are literal embodiment of Khalsa and 5K's is a integral part of their life. Do you think the British were so powerful that they misguided the sikhs when the mughals could not do it with sword. And Only Amritdhari Sikhs have to wear 5Ks not Sehajdhari.

It clearly is stated by Bhai Nand Lal who passed in 1713 around 14 years after Vaisakhi 1699.
The mere exsistance of a these verses by one of the most beloved poets in Guru Gobind Singh Jis darbar nullifies his whole premise that the 5Ks were formalized by the British.
Seriously Puneet, go read and research the historical sources, writings and rehitnamas of the Sikhs. You will find plenty of references to the 5Ks.
Don't go mouthing off if you have not done the research properly. You are a smart guy, but this habit of yours makes you seem ignorant and unwilling to learn
I am also going to suggest you go and read Sri Gur Panth Parkash completed in 1841 by Bhai Rattan Singh Bhangu, the Grandson of Bhai Mehtab Singh, that clearly mentions the 5ks in his work.
This work was completed before the British took over in 1846, and the work was in direct response to the denigration and concoction of lies being told by Bute Shah, a Mughal historian tasked by the British to write the history of the Sikhs.
