This video is another frame fabrication video but it's a bit different! In this episode I'm taking the chopper out of this vintage Pre-War straight leg Harley frame.
This thing had a pretty wild chopper modification done a long time ago and in this video I reverse that. Fixing all the dodge stuff and returning this frame safely back to stock.

Reminds of a 1947 ul flattie frame that had lived in chookpen for 30 years, lying on its side. Talk about pitted, You did a great job rebuilding. Thanks for the video.
Your workmanship and attention to detail is unmatched bud. How do so few end up with so much talent. Years of hard work and hour after hour of time spent in the shop I would imagine. You take care bud and ride safe.
Helps to surround yourself with people better than you are to make yourself try harder haha
Super rad to see your process and to get to hear about the tid-bits the old guys used to do like brazing instead of welding. I've heard of that, but never actually seen an example of it, so kudos to you for showing the repair process!
Glad you enjoyed it! Brazing back in those days was the only option! Welding was futuristic and probably unheard of!
I have a pic on my comp somewhere of the factory brazing frames and there's probably 8 torches held in place, all heating different areas at the same time.
Hey Phil you nailed another one bud, great save on that frame, great piece of History.
Thanks mate! I didn’t want to see this rare old frame just sit in someone’s junk pile!
What is hilarious is the amount of work you have put into rebuilding that frame and it will look great when the bike is up and running but all the work will be invisible from a RWcertificate point of view. My stock 1970 Trophy failed a Vic roadworthy inspection cos the headlight was aimed wrong. Shows how ridiculous some of the inspection stuff is. If this was a custom car build in Vic you would prob have to get every weld xrayed and engineer signed off. Really enjoy your work. Keep 'em coming.
Yeah absolutely! We get away with murder here in QLD. But yes lots of work gone into this frame you wouldn’t know about if I didn’t make a video 😂.
Love the content, frame builds, engine builds, fabrication, all of it, you can't go wrong.. 👍 The style of bikes you build is exactly what i like.
Thank you! Spread the word!
Really enjoyed this video mate. Watched the whole lot this morning here in the UK. Real nice job. Good to see how you can get stuff done with a bit of ingenuity! Great work. Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the support
Looks like you have your work cutout for you on this one. From the work I’ve seen you do I can’t imagine anyone could do it any better. Actually I can’t think of anyone who could do it. Can’t wait to see it finished. Take care and ride safe.
I appreciate that! Thanks!
I really enjoy your frame restoration or modification videos. I am in the process of straightening an old shovel frame myself and you have given me some ideas to help. Not sure about your “American welders” comments….although I resemble those remarks....lol
Glad I can help! I'm not saying all of you can't weld, just majority!
Love this type of content - you make it look easy mate! 😂
Glad you enjoy it! Sometimes you’ve just gotta dive in and work it out
Tremendous amount of work, looks great
Many thanks!
Really enjoy watching your work you make it look so easy
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job mate anyone else would of chucked it in the bin
Trying to save these old things from the bin!
Loving the chopper/traditional builds that you do and always great to see well thought out fabrication.
Thanks for the support! Spread the word
Bloody genius mate ! Love these videos, keep 'em coming

Thank you! Spread the word!
beautiful work sir you can make "strawberry jam out of pigshit , most people would cave when they got to the bronze welding
Yeah the bronze welding is a real pain in the arse sometimes haha. Lucky this was a rare frame and needed to be saved!
outstanding thanks
Cheers!
Pipe is for transferring fluid, tube is structural.
Sweet video. You gotta release some shirts mate
Thank you mate! Yep I’m working on it!
The bottom tubes were not double walled ? Aready bodgied ?
These videos ate great for learning frame work! Can you mig straight to the casting?! Thanks Phil 🤘
Yeah mate you definitely could! I just prefer tig because you can achieve better penetration and neater welds I believe
I would have replaced the upper rear left leg completely.
If you were doing the job you would have seen how involved that was.
Fucking great job
Cheers!
Thanks for the metal fab tips. Returning to stock or making it custom the techniques are the same.
Yep exactly! Returning to stock is always harder because you are trying to copy something. Where custom is what ever you want
