I was chatting to a bloke the other night who is actually friends with Andy Mackay (saxophonist) and lives around the corner from him! I have been trying to get Roxy Music autographs for a long time and finally it paid off! I sent my vinyl sleeve of The Atlantic Years 1973 - 1980 to his home address, he got Andy to sign it and also managed to get Phil Manzanera (guitarist) and even Paul Thompson (drummer) to sign it! I was mindblown as you could imagine! He obviously has connections with the group. I now own a rare piece of signed Roxy Music memorabilia. Roxy Music Over You (1980) A timeless classic by R.M. C ~ 13 - 04 - 24
Roxy Music goes Blondie. Reminds me a little bit of "Union City Blue". In my top 10 of the most important bands of the 70s, Roxy Music is definitely one of them - and very high up there. Roxy Music has manifested a very unique form of aesthetics in music - with Brian Eno and without Brian Eno.
_Flesh + Blood_ was a very big album in Australia back in 1980, and that success prompted Roxy Music to take a second trip down to Australia and do a couple of songs on Countdown (''Same Old Scene'' and ''Jealous Guy''). The group also took time to shoot the official music video for their latest hit ''Jealous Guy'' in Sydney. If you haven't heard Roxy Music's version of John Lennnon's ''Jealous Guy'', you might like to add it to your _Who Did It Better_ list. Don't quote me on it, but I think it was either Countdown or Sounds (Sydney's version of Countdown) that made the ''Jealous Guy'' video for Roxy Music. Another song I'd like to suggest - that has a music video shot by Countdown - is Elton John's ''Song For Guy''. The video is a bit of a ho-hum performance in the Countdown studio, but it did become the official video for the song. Cheers, Hayley
I agree, I don't like everything they did, but what I do like, I love. To me, you can't beat Avalon. You might also check out Phil Manzanar's 801. He was the guitarist from Roxy. They only had one studio hour, but it is a great mix of pop/prog. Check out City Of Light or the instrumental Que¿ As for this song, it heralded a change of direction, and much smoother than the earlier stuff.
There were a few good singles on this LP. Oh yeah and The Same Old Scene being my favourites. For album tracks My Only Love and No Strange Delight are the highlights of this LP. An LP that really works in summer.
Yes, a brilliant album, full of great singles and album cuts .. "Oh Yeah" is my very favourite Roxy Music song, and this one would probably be my second favourite .. But the whole album is just superb.
Again, guys, I've been a fan of Roxy Music since 1973 and first saw them live with T Rex in the Marquee club in London that year, Bryan Ferry the brains behind the band grew up a couple of miles from me and is the same age. They blew me away with their unique sound and compositions, and again, I've seen them play several times and have seen Bryan's solo concerts also. Love this band one of the pioneers with T Rex on Glam Rock before Bowie.
Fantastic song from my favourite Roxy Music album "Flesh And Blood" ..In fact I think it's an all time classic album ! .. My favourte Roxy Music song "Oh Yeah" is also from it, along with other top numbers like "Same Old Scene" and their cover of The Byrds' "Eight Miles High" .. Please react to "Oh Yeah" if you can .. If you like smooth, you will love this !
Ha ! Yes , Great Album . Still have a copy from new , tis a bit worn , some of these early Records are so thick and heavy , you dont want to drop this one on your foot !!
This is like one of those songs I heard on radio as a kid but too young to know whom it was. For some reason they remind me of Icehouse as they sound good to me but not the raw type of rock or hard rock that I am more likely to buy an album from a sound I got into in my youth. Now I am older I know it has Bryan Ferry in it which I always remember more from Paul Hogan taking the piss out of in one of his comedy skits on his tv show when I was a little kid.
Once again thank you for all the tunes that you have played for me from my suggestion box Love the outro on this tune , you just want the song to keep on going!!!! I you like this tune check out these tracks Roxy music "Same old scene" Bryan Ferry "Kiss and Tell" Bryan Ferry "Don't stop the Dance"
It's great that you have gotten back to doing some, Roxy Music, I generally prefer their early stuff but any of it is good. The reason that the uploader might have cut it short is that as it fades out on the album there is a segue into "Eight Miles High" which is the next track, Chris and Cynthia, the whole album is done like this to some degree.
Wow .. that’s the album me n my mates used to roll our joints on during our “ aff yer melter “ phase 😅 Great memories n a decent pop song too . 👍🏴

I liked Roxy Music in their glam era, but this is just claptrap. They really lost their way, but that was probably because Bryan Ferry had one eye on going solo.
Possibly the best suited man in music.
He has an excellent tailor
And always has stunning backing singers
Very suave indeed
The Cars 🚗 were listening !

Thank you for the video and reaction. Loved early Roxy Music, but still enjoy this transitioning into more popular style of music in the 80's.

This song has been in my heart (and the whole album, courtesy of my dad playing it in the car) since I was 9 ❤❤❤
same here!
My father had a cassette of The Atlantic Years 1973 - 1980 that he used to play all the time in the car. Great band.
Brilliant! It’s so good. All eras. This one is special ❤

Love The Rickenbauer Guitar 🎸 on this & this whole album. Great vocal by Ferry !
More Than This was always my fave Roxy Music song and Slave To Love was my preferred Bryan Ferry tune.

Flesh and Blood was a great album. I love the obscure tracks you guys react to. Keep it up, and thanks!
This is the post Brian Eno Roxy he left to do his own type of music more on the experimental ambient side plus became quite a well known producer
Their cover of Eight Miles High on this album. Guitarist played with Dave Gilmour a lot ❤
Yes, their earliest stuff was good, but missed a lot for me in later times. This was one of the few I liked, still reminiscent of earlier stuff.
thanks
