The French Foreign Legion included a fair number of German Veterans and SS. Tigers. Special Forces also included some. The 10th SF were in a former SS barracks. That may have contributed to the name. I'd guess British paint striping and French Lizard patter. Yet the Special Forces Lizards did not have the ring to it as the claimed Tigers? Very big lizards if I remember correctly.

Incorrect. Plenty of photos and examples exist of LRRP, MIKE Force, USN, etc tiger stripe with insignia.
