Really good video there, sir, but I'd like to add a few things for those who are going for a more MACV SOG styled loadout.
    1. For the airsoft guns if you want to go with a WW2 M1 carbine, the M2 would be more accurate and would be used throughout the war. M79 grenade launchers would usually be cut down, with some SOG team members even having custom holsters made. Colt 1911s weren't carried as often as the Browning Hi Power, so maybe go for that instead. I don't know how easy it would be, but if you want a light machine gun, grab an RPD and cut down the barrel, since M60s weren't usually carried by SOG due to how heavy they were. You CAN use 30 rounders for your CAR-15s, just keep it light on how many. While you can use a bog standard sling, a crevat (Triangular Bandage) was favored by SOG teams since it made no noise unlike the standard issue slings.
    2. For Web Gear and uniforms. If you want to, you can pair Chicom type 56 AK chest rigs with your belt kit for extra ammo, just make some paracord pull tabs if you throw your 20 rounders in there, SKS chest rigs also supposedly fit 20 rounders, but I haven't tried this myself. If you want a more visually distinct kit, grab some NVA khakis. SOG teams usually had their indigenous pointman (Usually a Montagnard, Vietnamese, or Chinese Nungs for the recon teams, or Cambodians for the Hatchet forces) in full NVA kit. If you want to carry even more ammo on the cheap, grab a ton of canteen covers. For the standard jungle fatigues you can also spraypaint some black stripes on there for a sort of ersatz tiger stripe. In an interview Nick Brokhausen did for modern forces, he says to wrinkle and twist the fatigues to break up the pattern a bit more.
I know that was a lot thrown out there, but I hope it helps some folks!
Edit was just adding a couple things I thought of later

      Most airborne jumps in vietnam
Were done by the french in first
Indochina war due to scarcity of
Helicopters especially at dienbienphu where most did
Jump and die at night in a ever
      Shrinking perimeter!

For a tip with CAR-15 slings in Vietnam: they usually modified a standard M16 sling by removing the clips on it, opting to run paracord through the holes where the clips would have been. They'd then attach it to the stock and to the front sight block. They'd also remove the sling loop underneath the sight block. This allows the Car15 not to have as much metal clanging around. Although after doing this myself I will say it does get a little tricky at times to shoulder the rifle as they'd mainly use it to dangle it while moving around instead of using it during a firefight so use a sling that you find comfortable and looks like something from the period.

Great video, one of the reasons I like the tiger stripe look is you don't need to worry about and patches or badges.
I would love to see you do a vietnam ANZAC digger loadout. A good excuse to bust out an SLR or just keep the m16. Maybe an SASR erdl loadout with a M203? I don't feel the anzac troops get the recognition they deserve.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV

The water bottle pouches were used as you could get 5 20rd magazines in each and they would typically carry 15 to 20 magazines in total. Water bottles them selves they would carry 1 or 2.

    • @Gadgeization
      @Gadgeization 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

The black trim on the beret flash was only for First Special Forces, never the Fifth. The First’s flash was originally yellow/gold. Right after Kennedy was killed they started coloring the edge by hand with a black marker as a sign of grief. It was later the standard.
Very well done on the kit. The only bits missing are the Randall fighting knife and the Rolex.😉

    • @paulmiraldi7192

Randall knife is a misnomer'; not everyone could afford a Randal; starting price was around $700 in 1966 also with great demand Randal was 2 years behind and the wait list was about 2.5 years to get any model of Randal to a soldier in the field....85% of all knives carried by USSF was the K-Bar "STYLE" knife!! also, most SF guys wore the Seiko in country
