Bikes and the riding of are I believe one of the only things that melts away stress, I still (at 48yrs of age) feel like an 8 yr old when riding out my gate, doesn’t matter where I’m heading, the ride is great!
Nice work! I haven't seen one of these for years. When I was 12 years old I got my first job, a paper route delivering the San Jose Mercury News, and my mom bought me one of these brand new and had it fitted with a custom rear rack designed to hold those two-pouched canvas bags that held the papers. Some local guy made and sold various bike racks. This was in 1973. It was the perfect bike for that job because those bags were pretty heavy when loaded with papers, and mine was yellow just like this one. These bikes are tanks and it's cool to see one again. Cheers.
My work had these with heavy duty front baskets on them, but apparently too many people don't know how to ride a bike. Too many injuries from crashing, so the company threw them into dumpsters, and no, they wouldn't let anyone have them, then replaced all the two wheeled bicycles with crappy three wheeled trikes with huge baskets or racks on the back.
You should kept the kickstand.
Why don't you use kick stands? This Heavy Duti could use one.
your patience paid off on the fiddly kick stand. I would have switched to the universal kick stand wrench (angle grinder)
Awesome work! I have this same bike in my garage with fenders and chain guard. I like your cockpit set up
Thanks for giving her the love. Definitely a cool bike to save and u did a nice proper build👍
Very cool frame! I've been browsing now and then for a older long wheel base frame to put my mid-drive e-kit on for a "cruiser". This is a really cool looking bike!
Cool bike man nice heavy ride
What a fantastic find in that condition. Yes, I would have kept the diamond plate.
What a change from the weather in Florida! 🥶
Another very cool bike DePue!
This looks killer! Super nice.
Looks sick, only thing I would change is the bars to some higher ones
Beautiful and solid bike 🚲.
Nice!
Shimano 110 is the best new coaster brake hub you can get now.
Cool build. Fun little project. Have considered installing 3pc bmx crankset instead of thst ond piece? Some polished profile cranks could be nice.
