What lore is there about custodian gender? Most I've heard about is a single line referring to "noble sons". Writers have even expressed purposely leaving custodian gender ambiguous so that someday females custodes could be "introduced", even though they've been implying they've been there the entire time. GW been around doing this for 40+years and you think they won't make 6 more years lol
Not really going to waste your or my time arguing over writers 'recent' claims or the importance of lore let alone effort to work with it. Rather I'll touch on the last bit you commented on since to clear things up, assuming you are in fact making a 'good faith' comment. GW will exist as a company, likely for awhile they have a good base and IP to milk just look at the slow motion death of Star Wars with Disney for one example. Unlike Disney, Games Workshop is in a business that has to grapple with a technology that not only offers a choice to customers but, empowers them. So tell me if you ran the company why would you remain in a venture that faces a technology that will bite hard into your bottom line? Regardless, I hope that clears things up! I'd check out several vids on 3d printers (Did you know GW uses them for forge world test models?), such as one where a guy prints out a rather neat new case for an old Nintendo 64! Have a great day and thanks for taking the time to give a little push back!
Forgive me... I liked the Primaris. I still like first born too. You do have a good point about the Primaris being a Trojan Horse. While I still like them and feel they're more flushed out, thanks to them we did get female Custodians who're forced in out of the blue with gaslighting. I won't give up on 40k and will fight for the IP until the end. Supporting GW on the other hand, no.
There is no need to forgive, I don't have any issue with folks who like the Primaris. My point was they bent the lore in rather damaging ways. Honestly I feel like they should have been akin to Thunder Warriors, aka an addition to the Marines. Or like Northern Exile have it be akin to a chapter primarch that can be customized. I can't recall which vid but, that would have been a cool thing as well. Largely I dislike what they were used to do, not the folks you honestly enjoy them. And that is right, we don't need to seed 40k and there are tons of ways to continue playing without GW involved. Thanks for sharing!
Honestly female custodes is a total non-issue imo. "Maleness" was never a core facet of them unlike space marines with their focus on brotherhood and monasticism. They also only had their lore solidified a few years ago around the time Master of Mankind dropped and they got minis. Given that ADB, who established much if their current lore, has been on record as saying the custodes process absolutely works on women for years this really shouldnt be shocking. As far as i can determine the only lore it specifically contradicts is one line from the 8e codex. Bigger changes than that are made all the time - like space marines having always had centurions and grav weapons.
Here’s the thing, the Custodes are handcrafted by the Emperor, right? And the Emperor is a man right? As we’ve seen in video games, men usually create female characters. So maybe he was just testing his creativity. I’m joking, of course. The faction I love the most are the Necrons, and we’ve seen with it that rewriting lore can be good, but I didn’t like the way they did it this time. You have great points and I agree. I hope they rethink their business plan and plan for the future. I love the 40K universe and it would be a pity to see all that go down the drain due to mismanagement. Thank you for the video
As a bright point, even if GW decides to keep going down a road of ditching lore or just spitting in fans face with their reaction, which was deeply disrespectful, ultimately they will not be required. Old rules will pick up the slack, alternative rules 'aka One Page' will rise up, and 3d printing will consume their market as the devices become more & more user friendly with each passing year. In all this it bothers me that the fans current & future are the ones whom lose out in the whole affair, since GW didn't even attempt to do their usual with making some lore up to shovel it in. Rather they just lied to fans which was throwing gas on the fire, and one should never do that when true passion is involve in anything as it will generate a heated response that often with time burns out into a numbing contempt. My guess is GW has its sights on becoming an IP holder in the next five to six years, around 2030, and will likely do more line culls and lore 'alterations'. Still chin up! The future is bright regardless! Thanks for the comment.
@@mrnobodypresents1349 I will be honest, I've been getting into older editions and I never really realized just how much rules bloat was already there. Most of it was just in the core rules as opposed to faction specific. But I digress. Older editions to me seem like they're not too hard to get into, pretty enjoyable, and for the most part you can play them with new models. You just need to rearrange some of the general squad makeups, but luckily a lot of Armies aren't Space Marines, and have played a lot of the same units for decades at this point. CSM I've found are actually really exceptional here because most of their units were around well before a lot of the garbage we're seeing popped up, same for Craftworlders, Deldar, etc. My point being is that older editions are a viable alternative and not hard to transition to, or you can simply just make up your own rules with 3rd party minis. GW isn't really needed any more, and hasn't been for a long time in my opinion. They need fans, but the fans are kinda sick of it, and I think you're about to see an exodus to older rules sets and alternatives for minis.
@@huelads740 I'm keen on the 3rd edition rules myself but, there are a good number to pick from indeed. Would even suggest looking into One Page rules, and like you said we really don't need GW anymore. Planning on touching on some of these things in future vids so I hope that will prove useful! Have a great day!
Ok i feel like if they just handled the announcement better there wouldn't be anywhere near as many issues, the writing for Kesh(the first named female custodian) is good and at the end of the day good writing is what matters. People Hated the primaris marines and still draw issues with them. In addition as this relates to female marines, female marines where always intended to exist but due to lack luster sales on the miniatures back in the 80s they where made more generically androgines in their armour design, as the lore was written around that they then became male exclusive. Lore wise due to their completely different method of creation, Arcane Genetic Alchemy is not the same as normal genetic engineering there is technically no reason for female custodians not existing, i agree sisters of silence do deserve better treatment lore wise. Most issues seem to stem from A. poorly handled reveal and bad choices in announcing it. and B. Grifting youtubers enraging their fanbase to get clicks and money out of their community.(not implying your the grifter)
It is interesting that the model company didn't roll out a set of new minis for it. No new fem heads, bodies, or anything. Almost like they think it is a waste of money.

Unsold Female Stormcast Eternal Models transformed into Female Custodes Models + Virtue Signaling = Profit!
