Claire, I thought the same thing, that I should shave, et cetera. But the fact that I look like Hell - after being stuck at home for so long, it makes a point.
Missed the deadline! Hopefully, you'll do more. Just sent my entry, and missed it. But, I'm just catching up on all of it. An interesting Victorian portrait. Cheers
Besides 'questions and answers'. I miss these precious short films; little 'fireside chats' about art. I mean, I don't want to talk about food or cars. I want to look; listen; and learn more about art, as well as share. Artists -and art admirers, NEED a place to communicate and help to inspire and get other's creative juices flowing. Ta~
I'm afraid my submission won't count. Too late, I think! But thank you for this lovely series. Since 1972 as a graduate art history student, I have been following the movement of research done on Phelan Gibb, a British friend of Gertude Stein and A. Toklas. I have a Pinterest homage to him since I couldn't afford to complete my thesis. I did find some interesting correspondence at the Beinecke Library. I do find a few things here and there. Somewhere surely there must be a lode of stuff. He was quite peripatetic. Only one mention in Apollo.
You won't miss see a great deal of features, but a view of the marble bust I treasure. I wish I could to buy a Phelan Gibb and I would dearly love to see the ones at the Eastbourne museum. It is hard to evaluate his work from photos.
Very excited about this! Believe it or not I was wanting to add in a former comment how we could return the favour - for example by sharing some of our favourite pieces- but dismissed the idea thinking that you already get to see so much on a daily basis... How long do we have to share?
Hello, did you do an episode about that gorgeous floral?? Who was the artist? Great idea (btw) so looking forward to seeing everyone’s submission! What is the deadline?
Oh dear, that means I'll have to get dressed, brush my hair and make up...

Mom always said lipstick. You’re better than me. Good for you. I hope I see your pic.

If the painting, you're standing in front of, is an eye catcher nobody will notice if hair and make up are done.😁

Indeed , Claire , but it might give some folks a great opportunity to ' show their wares ' !
You have been key in in what little education about art that i have. I thank you for that.

I do wish Ms Evans would contact me as I have a few of Mr Gibb's paintings. I don't know how to contact her.
Done and thank you. Loving the art.
What a lovely idea!
My wife andI just emailed our submission. It would be interesting to see on a world map where from around the world people made submissions.
What a cool idea!
Just sent one along and so excited to see everyone’s favorite works of art.
Excellent - we are too!
