    I have 2023 PHEV ESCAPE. It often charges up to 75km, then adds 20km regenerative breaking in cottage country, 3-4l / 100km.
    Love it

      @@paulmoore6175 yeah. Driving in the city, we’ll often charge up to about 70km and always get at least that. And even once it runs out, it seems like half of our driving is still electric instead of gas/petrol (thanks to the regenerative braking?)

    Just purchased one of these with the premium package, but without the sunroof (don’t care about it and it makes insurance cheaper). Negotiated about $2,100 CAD off the listed price and got them to throw in a Level 2 Tesla charging adapter, financed at only 0.9%. Really looking forward to getting it this Tuesday!

      I’ve always driven fords since 1988. The Outlander is much better platform and considerably more reliable. You also get many more upgrades in the Outlander for the same or less money than the Escape. I owned 4 C-Max all made in Michigan. All operated flawlessly. These escapes are now made in Mexico, the quality has gone straight down. I chose the Outlander for all these reasons, made in Japan. Ford finally drove me away with obscene price increases and by having the most recalls in the business.

    • @PlanetLinuxChannel
      @PlanetLinuxChannel หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gcanada3005 That makes sense. Although our VIN starts with a 1 and claims to be made in the US. We considered the Outlander PHEV, but it was actually slightly more expensive around here and we really prioritized the EV range and fuel economy, of which the Escape was better.
      Still, the Outlander does a LOT right, and is a great option depending on your needs and priorities.

      @@PlanetLinuxChannel I heard Ford really dropped the price of the Escape recently. This is confirmation. A year ago it was completely different. A friend that works at Ford says they are over $12k cheaper than last year. When I complained to him they drove me away. If that escape is $12k more do you still make the same decision?

    • @PlanetLinuxChannel
      @PlanetLinuxChannel หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gcanada3005 Oh certainly not! I figured that the price was good for what I was getting. But for $12K more, there’s too many other good options: Outlander PHEV, RAV4 Prime, Mazda CX-70/90, etc.

      No it’s not underrated when you consider the ridiculous price, which is double the comparable PHEV from Ford in 2017. You can do much better for the price now. Coming from a person who always drove Fords. Not to mention owned 2 C-Max hybrids and 2 CMax PHEV. Ford finally drove me away with obscene price increases and terrible quality. Leading to the most recalls in the automotive industry

    I learned that the heads up display depends on the rake of the windscreen. A secondary screen for HUD is needed if the windscreen is not at the right angle for viewing at a normal driving position.

  • @PlanetLinuxChannel
    @PlanetLinuxChannel หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So it’s not a CCS plug, because it doesn’t have the high-voltage DC part of the connector. It’s a standard J1772 connector that supports Level 2 charging (240V) and Level 1 charging (120V like from a normal house outlet).
    That little space in between the cup holders actually lets you set your key fob there if its battery ever died and the vehicle will recognize that it’s in the car and let you start it.
    As well, you can adjust the positioning of the HUD from the instrument cluster menu.

    I researched a lot of new PHEVs and settled on the Ford Escape PHEV as it was available in Surrey, BC and is flat towable behind a motorhome. Test drove it and was very impressed, but then I found a used 2021 Kia Niro SX Touring for $20,000 less. The Kia has ALL the features I want and “fits” my lifestyle better. Better reputation for reliability than the Escape. The other concern about the Escape is they are discontinuing it? For what Ford?

    • @solderbuff
      @solderbuff หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jeez... I almost bought one. Not sure why would they discontinue it. It seems to be a perfect car for our family.

    • @solderbuff

      Also, with Mazda's engine and Toyota's transaxle the PHEV should be very reliable.

    Regarding the audio speakers, i believe a division of Samsung "owns" many big brand names in the auto industry. I believe they still have to qualify for the companies standards, but im not sure if that reaches out to the hardware or just like the sound profiles like you mentioned in the vid. Great vid, keep up you two!
