I know this is a bit late, but out of curiosity, could you have used sellsword Luet? He only uses shields and i think would fit within the spirit of the run. Not that you needed him, just that it could have added a little more absurdity to the run.
ds2 gave the best treatment to the shields, there is a ring that reduces the amount of stamina you lose from getting hit with the shield raised up, when you spear poke behind a shield the shield actually protects you (not like in ds3 where for some retarded reason the shield receives the blocking properties of the weapon), you can ATTACK with your shield without 2 handing it

I can still remember the mage player I summoned to help guide me after I got lost who jumped off a cliff because a deprived player invaded with just a dagger
I actually completed a shield only run last week, and it was an absolute BLAST! I love how oddly viable Shields are as weapons. My end build was orums and reeves + sanctum in right hand
i'm here for the sweet sanctum shield action. other great shields to use: disc chime and shield crossbow. in my experience, going for platinum without these as well would have been even more of a nightmare.

Cool thing about the sanctum shield is the description says it only casts miracles and hexes but it also casts sorceries for some reason so you can cast repair on it to avoid spending on repair powders

When I did my shields only run, I found that the Gyrm shield with dark troches was a hard counter to everything that Fume could do. Don't even need to phase lock him.
While I enjoy this video, I’d agree that it is basically just ripping Ymfah’s format (hell, a lot of his jokes too) without remorse. Additionally, I’d argue it’s a bit more padded than a typical Ymfah video. Normally if Ymfah gets a half decent weapon early on (like how this video gets Havel’s shield pretty early) The rest of the run is damn short.
