    I think the Sand Rammer came out great. What some call a mistake, others call it character. The coins looked totally epic !! I love the shiny shiny lol Great video for sure. That stack sure is growing. Thank you for letting all of us see it grow with you !!

    Man, I love how shiny zinc is. Even straight out the mold. Even if it looks a little goofy, I think you'll like the sand rammer more than the mallot.

      Thanks man, I’m excited to use it vs the mallot!

    Another incredible video by the one and only “GrowingStack!” That sand rammer turned out sick! GrowingStack makes all of this casting look so easy, trust me fans, it is not that easy. I find myself always waiting for the next video from GrowingStack!!

    Zinc does show small details really well. The coins look great. The rammer, imperfections show character and it will work for what you need. Looks great and I would use it. I haven't melted zinc yet but I have some and planning a video to post in the next month or so. Thank you for sharing and have a great week.

    Zinc may not be much of a precious metal, but it shines up great and still looks good when you don't shine it up. It's a win. Love the pirate coins, they turned out great. The hammer is good too, it has character. Thanks for the video!

    nice, to bad for the shrinkage holes, but, its a sand pounder, will work either way, I made a brass one long time ago, wish I would have used aluminum, brass gets heavy after you use it for a while lol. I will have a zinc video too this week. Keep at it.

    Seems like the zinc pours smoother than say copper. The copper kind of blobs into the coin molds whereas the zinc fluidly pours in nicely. Well done.

    Ooh! You should drill 4-5 angled holes in the craters, then fill them with molten brass or copper, make your mistakes into accents! That would look pretty neat IMHO.

    How do you clean out the containers that go in the forge?

    • @TheGrowingStack
      @TheGrowingStack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I don’t scrape it right away with a spoon while it’s hot, I wait until it’s totally cooled down and it “lets go” from the crucible in a solid chunk, or multiple chunks with a little help from a standard screw driver 👍

  • @brandonb1681

    • @TheGrowingStack

    Is ist possible to fill those holes by pouring zinc into them?

    • @TheGrowingStack
      @TheGrowingStack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could, yeah, but I wanted to showcase it as it was. At least how I experienced it first person and keep the project and the video as real as it was. Not a bad idea though 👍

  • @doriWyo

    Is it possible to melt a little more and fill the voids?

    • @TheGrowingStack
      @TheGrowingStack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be possible yes. I left it as is because I wanted to show my experience first hand in the video as I went through it just so it was genuine.
      I might go back and “fill in the blanks” though 👍

    • @doriWyo

    Yeah zinc is definitely a little quirky....for lack of a better word. Everything big that I tried to make always had air pockets although my daughter actually liked this one thing I did that came out looking like a pancake with butter and an egg depending on how you looked at it....the air pocket ended up resembling a round scoop of butter or the egg yolk on a fried egg....lol I just filled the back side in with hot glue cause it was really brittle in that area.

    Dont CUT Your Zinc Flashings Off And Stuff, Use Something That Bites In To It, That Way You Ain`t Loosing A Gram of It, Just Like Gold, No one Cuts Gold Like That, Only WithMethods That Doesnt Loose The Material. It Will Gain You A Lot Of Material And Money In The Long Run.

    Tell the truth, you are going to drill the pockets out and fill them with lead to give extra compaction power to the rammer,. It wasn't a mistake it was a pre planned addition.
