Its so crazy to me to think that when he won his first tournaments most of the gamers today including most people who watch this video and in the comment sections werent even born yet
The thing is, calling this "the single greatest play in esports history" isn't even hyperbolic. No one thought this was possible until Daigo pulled it off AND optimized the immediate counter, winning the match in the progress. He lost the set, but no one will remember that. He immortalized himself. Absolutely legendary.
No he won against Wong. He DID lose to KO though. It's also worth noting Daigo essentially made people change their minds on 3S. Evo Moment 37 helped vindicate 3rd Strike's initial tepid reaction.
He's obviously doing a lot of SF6 stuff now, but whenever id tune into his stream in the past couple years it seems like he'd mostly just be walking around neighborhoods in japan with friends just enjoying a conversation. Seems like he really is just living his best life
yeah this seems like an obvious miss? i like thescore esports content and all but please dont get so low effort about the content that you dont like... making a brief passing mention to the fact the man wrote a downright inspirational book called "the will to keep winning" thats more philosophy than fighting game tech. thats kinda.. like.. important to his character arc!

Man is just a straight up FGC workhorse. Always has been and always will be. Doesn't matter if it's playing in tourneys, analysis, event hosting/organizing, or just general publicity. Daigo is gonna put in the work.
You have no idea how hard that evil ryu combo is. Can't remember exactly how many but it's like 3/4 1-frame links. He did that in a tournament after being perfected by Momochi, not exactly a stranger in SF. The guy is a showman.
Age is a thing, even in gaming.. People going beyond their 30s in RARE.. Most people don’t understand that the sorts of reactions needed in high level gaming are a PHYSICAL thing and will degrade as you age.. Expecting a gamer to just keep on going is like expecting Usain Bolt to just keep on smashing it in the 100m, ain’t gonna happen..
Since e-sports are new in comparison to regular sports, people tend to assume that age has the same performance impact in both, but that's not true. The decline in your reflexes as you age are negligible when it comes to how it's going to impact your gaming skills. It's not the same with physical sports, where your joints/bones/flexibility decline way more. E-sports rely more on your brain than on your body, which is why players can compete at top level even whey they're 40+ years of age.
Evo moment 37 is why the FGC is as large as it is today. Justin and Daigo made fighting games cool and was probably the progenitors of competitive gaming. A big thank you to these legends.
They call Faker the FACE of League of Legends. Then Diago The BEAST, IS the face of Street Fighter, 20years in FGC and still one of the best fighters in the world. Saw the FGC (&SF) is shrinking, so he started streaming and doing publicity to attract more people to keep FGC alive. True GOAT of the FGC, he has done so much more to earn the GOAT status than Faker has to earn his
Let it be known that we all love Lord Daigo and wish him a long life of miracle plays and success in the FGC, but Fuudo ended up marrying one of Japan's premiere ass models.
Hey I would love to play this guy in smash Ultimate his ken would he insane. Daigo was good in melee but lord knows he good play ken or ryu in smash and be insanely good.
Remember that this guy is 40 years old
We are getting close to the Grandpa Sensei Arc of Beat Em Ups
smelvin
One of the great things about FGC is that the old guard can still kick ass unlike league where you're expected to retire in your mid 20s
he looks 20 wtf

That "let's go Justin!" In Evo moment 37 still gotta be the biggest jinx of all time
Best part of the video for me 😂
I always wondered who said that
Rare footage of Daigo actually smiling.

He didn't lose the set. He won the match against Justin and went to the Final. It's in the Final that he lost. :)

bro living his best life 😤
Daigo's E.Ryu in SF4 was something else, will never forget his run at Capcom Cup
Daigo’s E. Ryu was a monster, one of the deadliest characters created by Daigo’s skills and talents
And ryu vs gamerbee
Always seemed like a chill guy. I never got into fighting games as much as I wanted to but could appreciate how good he was
Got to meet him at Evo back in 2016. Super chill and humble guy
He's obviously doing a lot of SF6 stuff now, but whenever id tune into his stream in the past couple years it seems like he'd mostly just be walking around neighborhoods in japan with friends just enjoying a conversation. Seems like he really is just living his best life
glad he’s doing well
Dudes pushing 40s and still has 1 of the best reaction speed in the pro scene
Fuudo’s around Daigos age and he reacts pretty darn fast too. His DeeJay is a monster
Title of the video: "WHAT HAPPENED TO DAIGO? WHERE DID HE WENT AND WHERE IS HE NOW?"
Actual video; "Not much to be honest, he never really went away"
he also wrote a book.

If it wasn't for Evo moment #37 the FGC wouldn't be what it is today. Thank you, Daigo and Justin.
He's the True G.O.A.T. of Capcom Fighting Games. Nuff Said!
Daigo is thee humblest and down to earth person in this community..😁👍
His CURRENT matches against Tokido are ridiculous!
I can't even keep up and I'm just watching...
Bro wtf is with the past tense? This man still does very well. His career is still going
I remember one friend told me that the beast was dead but legends never die.
He is still a BEAST to this very second!
Many Esports champions may come and go but Diago will always the unforgettable legend when it comes to FGC..... RESPECT FOR THE LEGEND 🔥
I’m convinced Daigo is a real life Ryu. Dude doesn’t age.
The Legend Is Alive
Daigo just sounds like a fun guy
As of August 2023 he's number 1 online
You have no idea how hard that evil ryu combo is. Can't remember exactly how many but it's like 3/4 1-frame links. He did that in a tournament after being perfected by Momochi, not exactly a stranger in SF. The guy is a showman.
Will never forget the best gaming moment in history
There is now evo moment 38
But it will never beat the hype that evo moment 37 gave
Amazing that he beat Tokido, the reigning SFV Evo Champ, 10-5 in 2018
Daigo just competed at EVO this weekend. He got like 33rd place in SF6.
Remember this guy doesn't take the games seriously at all, but still remains in the top 8 every tournament
Daigo should be the Master Roshi, of SF Parrying.
Meanwhile justin wong is testing people's parry online
And being one of the biggest fgc youtubers
I was just talking about that famous tournament moment to a homie of mine yesterday.
Diago deserves respect
Ain't no way Daigo really showed up to a wedding in a Twitch shirt.
Drunk Daigo is the best😂
Diego Umejuarez
wow someone still remember this one 😂
He's My favorite S.F. player
Daigo just placed 6th at Evo 2022 last night.

That was LEGENDARY 😎 I’ve only seen it done twice & this was the 2nd time. Up next… E. HONDA😎

Only thing missing were his blue crocs.
If there was DLC in Street Fighter 6, I think Daigo would actually be a character.
He already is. He’s in every game-Ryu.

diago is a living god
In another timeline he studies mahjong seriously and becomes the number one pro player
To be fair the title did get me to click on this cause i didnt know anything had "happened". Far as i know hes still around doing what he always does.
Night of the shadow bears Joel Perez vs daigo the beast
Guy finished top 8 at evo 2022 and lost to the eventual finalist for SF5.
He's training
Lets Go Justin!!!
Umehara ga kimeta!

"The si gle greatest play in eSports history" yea I agree, if only you'd put it as number 1 in you're best eSports plays video
Joel Perez use daigo parry
In sf5 he plays too much zoning game with guile and eventually lost to many other top players like punk tokido etc …
Hey yall it’s me, Daigo, I’m just chillin here in Hawaii practicing forward backflips.
Downplay of the century. Sry to even comment and help the vid in the algorithm
Kids like you dont know that daigo isnt the best player in street fighter 3 strike....... K.O
Eh didn’t he js win Evo
what's the point of this extremely low effort content
Vapid attempt to cash in on stock footage and information anyone with a pulse into gaming would know
