  • Sekiwake Onosato secures his 2nd Yusho with totally unmatched dominance. Attaining Ozeki after just 5 basho in the top division, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that he will become the 74th Yokozuna. Watching him once per day definitely shows off his skills, but watching all his bouts in succession exemplifies just how far ahead of the competition he really is. I honestly think Hoshoryu and Kotozakura have very little chance of ever reaching the highest rung now, we're entering the age of Onosato, and I don’t see him giving up any future yusho for quite some time. Terunofuji is the only one who could actually physically stop him, and as much as I love the guy I don’t think the old dog will easily do that again.
He simply moves forward, there is flatly no one who can face him head to head. The only note I can make, and even then I’m reaching, is that he’s precarious at the rope. Several of those finishes could have been losses had he landed milliseconds earlier. That being said, I feel certain Ol’ Nishonoseki is well aware of this- man I hope he at least goes easier on him now…especially since Onosato will surely knock his own career records out the window…
What did I say in my last vid on him, way back when he won Juryo? “Onosato will become a name synonymous with greatness in the sport.” Yeah, that just about sums it up. Onwards, to Yokozuna!! Cheers and enjoy!

Wakatakakage has always been impressive, winning over Onosato was a sight to see.
I predict those two will be future Yokozunas

Dude is eight tournaments into his career and already has as many titles as his master.
The question isn’t whether he’ll be a Yokozuna, but how many dozen titles he’ll win barring injury

Impressive Yusho for Onosato, convincing wins almost all the way through. I have to hand it to Wakatakakage though, his defense is always so good. That win was hard fought!

6'4", 400lbs, and quick as a hiccup. Really hope this fella can stay healthy. He has everything needed to dominate.

Onosato is probably the next yokozuna. It's a matter of time. He might not be long as an ozeki, maybe a year. He's still improving. Eventually his yotsu-zumo will improve and then it will be even harder to defeat him.

Onosato is a force. Will be interesting how he will adapt to other styles such as Abi's. Couldn't believe he'd lose.
