I flew Edelweiss from Mauritius to Zurich last May, it was one of my favorite flights of all time, the crew came around like every hour or two with bread and were always attentive. Wouldn't mind flying with them again!
Its a pity that it was a whole night flight ! In 2005, I flew Geneva - Mauritius with an Air Mauritius A340. We flew over the Indian Ocean in early morning and could see the many islands. It was simply marvelous ! Many thanks for this video thought !
I am Swiss and I always enjoy flying edelweiss. The entertainment system was also working on the ground on my stopover flight from Zürich-Colombo-Maledives. The food is good, even tough the portions are a bit small in economy, the crew is always nice plus the entertainment system is probably the best on any leisure airline. However the legroom is to tight for a good sleep on a overnight flight (I am 183cm). Sometimes you are lucky to get a empty middle row tough and can sleep there. Also note that alcoholic drinks will be charged in economy (not in max and business). Also the breakfast is mostly just some "Birchermüesli" and no hot breakfast which you would get on other long haul flights...
@@xr6lad I fly a lot. Economy, premium economy and business class. I am not talking about presentation I am talking about the taste. Have you flown edelweiss air? I guess not... So you can't judge the taste.
@@xr6lad might also depend on where it's catered out of. Catering in some airports is better than others. I know someone recently said that catering out of any of the NYC airports is bad - but my experiences have been the opposite with VLML. It can also depend on who they use - Do&Co is probably the best there is, and the others are really hit-or-miss. Do&Co out of FRA, for example, is excellent.
I guess they’re trying to adapt to 2 types of audiences; those who want to hear audible commentary and those who just want to see a trip report unfiltered
Nice review. So many reviews of those gulf state airlines with B777 with narrow seats and 10 abreast. And nobody says “ oh, the 2-4-2 on a A340 is so much better!” Edelweiss is my top choice for a CPT trip.
Hello. I will fly A340 to CPT I have booked row 3rd, but I understood that all the seats are standard seat except the XL, but there is no Economy Max . The economy cabin has only standard seats. Which is the difference between the economy seats in front and the ones in the rear of the aircraft?
Looking at that breakfast I suspect they realised too late that they had forgotten to load a vegetarian breakfast so they put something together from what they had available! 😄
Last time i flew Lufthansa they forgot my vegetarian meals and gave me one from J class (I flew economy). I think they mentioned “Business class” like 10 times so I wouldn’t complain because the thing was just dry pasta with some oily vegetables on the side haha. It was fine for me since I got something to eat anyways (I personally don’t have high expectations for Y except maybe on SIA/JAL), but I feel bad for the vegetarian passengers in J!
I flown on so many different types of aircraft but not the A340. But a few months ago I flew on Swiss A340. which I was so excited about. Now after the flight I got to say that it’s not all that, but I still love it.
Flew Edelweiss SJO-ZRH and was also super happy with the product and the friendliness of the crew. Always with a smile. Great airline! That freaking bread was so good so they gave me a ton:-)
I am so jealous of you flying on an A340 ... one of the few planes I have missed out on over several decades. According to what I am told, it provides excellent comfort and low noise levels for economy passengers.

I really want to see some more trip reports which have you go on two flights. It really brings some entertainment seeing you get on a widebody flight, then after you get on a narrow body flight right after. Anyway, great video as usual, thanks Felix! 😇
I flew Edelweiss Air on their route from Zurich to Vancouver last summer. Great crew and service but.....the worst legroom (or better: lack thereof!) I ever experienced on a longhaul flight 😱!
Hello Felix. Very interesting trip report. Sometimes it is better for you to bring your own food on the short-haul trips instead of being subject to the aircraft's fare on offer. For a 9 hr. 30 min. flight, I would definitely book whatever is considered Premium Economy (especially for the available larger legroom). One thing that I cannot stand is screaming kids (thank god for noise-canceling headphones which I always carry with me). This flight must have landed early in the morning considering you took off from the Seychelles in the dark as well. Overall, well done. Keep up the good work!
@@strain8810 True, but bothers me is when parents take children that are too young to deal with the situation. Children younger than 2 should not be allowed on airplanes as they are unable to equalize the ear pressure on their own as they do not know how to or understand how to.
@@strain8810 that’s NEVER an excuse. You also crpd your pants as a child as well: ok to do that as well? No one is your child minding service specially not other passengers that have paid money.
Edelweiss is the best European out there. Swiss know it and it's a cash $$$ for them. They should take heed of their common cozy family competition. To no avail. Drop down the rabbit hole Swiss cause this airline is IT! Bravo
Swiss and Edelweiss have some of the most outdated onboard safety videos. It’s like the same for the past 10+ years while others, especially in Asia and Netherlands (from my own travels) use creativity or its culture to show alongside the briefings, which really catch the eyes of passengers.
When a charter airline with just 16 planes has better service than its “world renowned” parent airline (Lufthansa, technically swiss, but Lufthansa owns Swiss, so it’s the real parent company )
Having salad for breakfast is not unheard of. It is actually quite common in some places, like Japan. I often order VLML and it can really be a mystery as to what you'll get.
Great flight. Bit sad when IFE is turned off during layover at Seychelles. Can't imagine seating on Business Class Cabin but sandwiched with Economy Class and Economy Max Cabin. And it's weird to see Vegetable salad serving together with bread and Chocolate cream but no heavy meal. Usually vegetable salad always serving together with heavy meals

I recently flew Edelweiss and it was by far the worst experience as a passenger I have ever had. On the outgoing flight after a full day in the air we were served exactly 5 pieces of penne pasta in mayo and 4 pieces of old fruit for dinner! Cabin crew was extremely annoyed when asked for water. We were also not allowed to stand in the galley to wait for the restroom despite crew not doing a service and seatbelt signs being off. Same issues with food, water and movement on the inbound flight. Apparently humanity, decency and a concern for passenger healt, safety and dignity are not features of this vile, subhuman airline.

Honnestly Edelweiss has almost the best service from EU. Not only on long-Haul flights, but also across Europe, very nice to fly with them !
I agree with you, because I was a flight on edelweiss from Zurich to Pristina. They would bring us bread and other snacks. And the crew were so nice!

Yes 10 abreast 3-4-3 in a 777 is narrow unfortunately BA changes the LGW 777 fleet in 10 abreast like LX
