Status effects make catching Pokémon much easier in gen 1 it makes more difference than low HP. Mew is pretty attainable on a cartridge with sleep and red health.
I caught mew but it freezes when I go to withdraw it before I restart will this happen again cuz I don’t want to start from beginning again and have it happen again I have the Pokémon yellow on game boy advanced sp

Try leaving an extra space in your team
Leave a space on your team. That's where you went wrong
My mew was a level 3 and didn’t get to 100

bruh i did everything right and still got a lvl 2 voltorb insted of nidoking
You didn't get a caterpie that can get growled 6 times, then only 5 because the pokemon will be level 1 after 6 successful growls
I got my level 100 nidoking took me like 10 times smh
