No Comic Pop episode would be complete without a several minute discussion about a completely unrelated piece of media that somehow managed to weave it's way into the conversation.
Okay hold up. 10 minutes in about a book I know absolutely nothing about and we are talking about Cool World and Cybersix. This episode is already unhinged and I ABSOLUTELY ADORE IT!!!
Superman vids may not get the highest views on the channel, but they are definitely my favorite. Please keep showing big blue, Lois and the gang some love!
Yeah idk if Sal just happens to consistently pick great Superman comics for the show or if Superman stories bring out great stuff for back issues in general. But the Superman episodes almost always turn out great
Any DC comic with krypton in it is wierd and a good time. DC make the weirdest decision with krypton and since the planet blown up they can do anything.
God, cybersix was the goat. The comic was bizarre, but it had no business being as good as it was. Also, I was not prepared for that conversation for cool world and cyber six the show up in a Superman comic.
I had to look it up but as soon as I saw the main character and the scientist guy I 100% remember watching the show growing up and really liking it, but rarely finding it and having no idea what it was called
😂 The banter at the end. I promise you there's an anti-Sal, contra-Back Issues conspiracy. Honestly, the War of Jokes and Riddles would not exist without this couch.
I love 82 White Chain Born in Emptiness Returns to Subdue Evil and 23 Liminal Blossom Punctures the Heart of the Unrepentant, Deliciously! (Literally had to copy paste their names)
@wittycomment that is 2 different angel's full names, the easiest way to tell where one ends and the other begins is the numbers, with 82 white chain being one of the main cast and actually probably my favorite character
@@wittycomment Two persons. The numbers start each name. Their angles so they are beings of strict order and thus start their names for their material body's reincarnations with a number to reflect how many times they have come back from the void.
To add to Cyber Six talk: it is based on Argentinian comic which is explicitly adult and has a lot commentary about nazism. Carlos Meglia is actually the original artist who also drew the comic.
I hope when Caped Joel sees this and hears "I didn't here about Cybersix until...a week ago." he immediately response to Sal "Oh REALLY, after nearly a decade of mentioning it directly to you on our podcast, it wasn't until last week." Anyways Cybersix is great....for about 5 episodes. Then they forget to have new villains in their villain of the week show.
Loved the shout-out to Cybersix. As an argentinean, it's cool to see how comic book readers from other countries discover or experience the comics made by fellow argentinean artists.
Happy belated ten-year anniversary to the channel who rekindled my love for comics! I have two favorite types of episodes Halloween and ones about books I've never heard of which means this one should be a blast!
My favorite rapper is MF DOOM. His hype man is named Big Benn Klingon and he named one of his live albums is named, Expectoration. Which means the art of spitting in Klingon
do you guys know that alan moore had another Batman Story besides The Killing Joke? He had a Story with Clayface. ...... just saying.. maybe it could be interesting to some...
It warms a tiny part of my soul whenever I hear a cybersix reference. The only anime I had access to as a tiny child that nobody or their mother has ever heard of
i need this book now! Loved the episode, loved the art Thanks Sal and the gang for always showing me new stuff 🍔 btw that Ben joke referencing Man of Steel cracked me up
Basically Jor'els speech "Kal'el my son I am sending you away to save you from the destruction of our planet this planet has a yellow sun and will grant you amazing abilities, BUT in case this fails I'm downloading a copy of my consciousness into a robot body and a sample of my and Lara's DNA and shooting that to Earth as well while there I will create a City in which time moves faster and by using mine and your mother's DNA create for you a younger brother who is physically older than you due to the Time Dilation.
Sal I'll have you know that I specialize in weird miniseries nobody else has ever heard of and yet you're absolutely right, I sure have not read this one
Man I want this adopted into animated film, plus there no sequel where Supergirl and Jon meet Superman's Secret Bro, also when you guys do Spider-Man story arc, "If This Be My Destiny?"
This intro was great, can we get a patreon where we have the guys watch and review shows or movies? I could listen to them talk about anything. And it'd be cool too see the crew react to different stuff, like how Tiffany does a manga every blue moon. First movie; Cat's Don't Dance second movie; Cool World
That’s ironic you guys are talking about Silk Stalkings because Chris Potter is one of the lead characters in the show. He voiced Gambit in the 90s X-Men animated series too. I remember the intro to Silk Stalkings when I was little hearing the lady sing and scream🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Superman #1(2023), Mercy Graves, COO of Supercorp, advises Superman against making diamonds to distrupt the economy. So thats at least 1 comic that has mentioned it
Buy Superman: Infinite City! amzn.to/3W27hCY
No Comic Pop episode would be complete without a several minute discussion about a completely unrelated piece of media that somehow managed to weave it's way into the conversation.
Those are the best parts
Literally the best parts of the show. More tangents
This one happened before we even started the story normally we get into it but this one went straight for it
That's a part of why I like this show, they're like me and my friends.
Okay hold up. 10 minutes in about a book I know absolutely nothing about and we are talking about Cool World and Cybersix. This episode is already unhinged and I ABSOLUTELY ADORE IT!!!
Same here! The amount of whiplash and nostalgia in those few minutes was worth it. 🤣🤣🫠
God it’s like watchin a Funhaus video where they just spend 20 minutes talkin about Lawnmower Man
@@hobbes6392 I remember that episode 🫠.🤣
Is that the show where the main characters brother is a Panther or something?
@@bearerofbadnews1375 yup. Or something like that
You know you’re in for a good back issues when it starts with two different tangents
Oh, absolutely!
I love Ethan’s reaction to the sudden topic change to Cool World.

"jizzed in time"
Guess we found the jizzlers new catchphrase
And we found it jizzed in time too
sucks you say they do so poorly cuz i really like when you do superman stories
This one's doing badly in realtime!
@@comicpopthat’s a shame, but I’m glad you do them, I’ve read so many good Superman books because of this channel.

A weird back issue is a great back issue!
After the Cool World discussion I really want the Comic Pop crew to do Mystery and Science theater style movie reviews as well.
I came here to say this. I would pay good money to watch them.. watch Cool World.
Really loved the Cool World digression. Your frustrated description of all the half-assed-ness of that movie perfectly mirrored my own.
Naw, we all ways need more of the Big Blue Boy Scout.
To add to Cyber Six talk: it is based on Argentinian comic which is explicitly adult and has a lot commentary about nazism. Carlos Meglia is actually the original artist who also drew the comic.
Ralph Bakshi, Cool World, and Cybersix discussions were not on my ComicPop Back Issues bingo card but I’m really glad they happened.
I had no idea superman actually had a secret brother in the comics that's super interesting in my opinion.
I’m pretty sure Duolingo has fictitious languages, including Klingon and Elvish, along with Dutch.
I checked, it has Klingon and High Valyrian (and Dutch) but no Elvish

Thanks for doing Superman books, I'm sorry they don't move the numbers they should. Loved the tangents in this one.
"His operating system had three upgrades that day"
Warden: "Why didn't you die?"
Jor-El: "Nanomachines, son!"
This might be the Back Issues-iest Back Issues of all time.
I enjoyed the Cool World and Cybersix tangent in this Superman video 😂
The question is what happens when cool world and cool runnings collide.
A coldly-ran world?

Hope you could still watch the show!
@@comicpop I always will
You don’t need to worry about views fellas. I’ve fallen asleep to this twice so you’ll get at least three outta me
The plot of this comic parallels Superman: For Tomorrow in quite a few ways.
Superman is my favorite and I’ll always watch your vids with an “S” on the thumbnail
If you remember the last time this channel talked about this book - your a OG
The Trial of Superman is a story that would be up your alley...

You think this is weird? You guys need some Steve Gerber Superman!!
If Superman was real and kryptonian was publicly available, I'd at least learn how to say "save me, superman!", you know?
Comic pop always makes the goofiest books seem entirely readable or fascinating to read
I just found out about cyber 6 a few weeks ago 🤯
Also shots fired at the klingon empire 🤣🤣
.....am i the baddie for also thinking "jizzed in time" 😅
I love how this episode starts with two tangents!
The immediate tangent about Cool World is great, sets the tone for the kinda weirdness I love to see on Back Issues
I want a full commentary for Cool World now just to see Ben loose his mind and Ethan pick it apart at the atomic level
I would love to see guys would do a commentary on movie and it be like Mystery Science Theater 3000 but comic pop Edition
Love the superman episodes

I don't know how may episodes it's been but my nerdoms finally crossed, a superman episode with a wh40k reference.
They showed the wrong black Superman. Calvin Ellis is the president Superman on earth-23. you used a picture of Val Zod of Earth-2🥲
“JIZZED IN TIME IS NOTHING”

Always a joy when comicpop drops stories that are obscure as they are popular.
Put that at the top of things I never expected from this channel: an intimate discussion of "Cool World".
I loved Cats Don't Dance as a child. It came on TV periodically and I watched it every time.
