Another great shift video. You asked for feedback. I much preferred the previous video with the larger split screen with the cabbies mate map and your camera pov from the cab. You had it all in sync and it was great. Your initial commentary is kind of essential in order to make sense of everything (because of all the different decisions you have to make) but it was better when you gave a quick commentary at the start rather than continuously and then repeating it after the job which is unnecessary. You had it more slick and neat previously. But either way, these videos are really great so thank you. I’m on the Knowledge, dreading my next appearance and I find these videos inspiring so thanks Ollie
Thanks for taking the time out to leave a comment. Your feedback and support is really appreciated and voice. I’ve had mixed responses with the change to the map and at the moment the majority have said they prefer the smaller map. I may adjust it and make it a bit bigger for future videos I’m editing, just trying to find the perfect balance. I’ve thought about changing the camera view back to the original way (as you’ve said) however I can’t go into too much detail but if I do that, I may not be able to share full POV videos like I’m currently doing with the current camera angle, I may change the camera for some videos but they would have to be more like snap shots of routes, rather than the full trip. I watch other TH-camrs and I actually prefer the interior (looking out) view, like I did in my early videos. The commentary/voice over has had mixed responses too, plenty of comments have said they prefer a continuous commentary, others like yours prefer an initial route call. I’m still learning with every upload and hopefully I can please as many viewers as possible. I don’t miss those days on the KOL, especially the mornings of appearances but I can’t tell you how worth it, it is when you get that handshake. There’s honestly no feeling on the planet like getting your Req. Thanks again for your support and message. Please feel free to let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see/think was shite in any of my videos, all feedback is really helpful 👍
Been watching your videos for weeks now. I stopped working in the cabs at covid and am finally going back at the end of this month. Funnily enough I’m going to be renting off Paul too. Taxi is seven years old though so I’m hoping it’s going to be reliable enough. Fingers crossed. Great videos.
Thank you for your comments. I’m so happy you’ve taken the time out to let me know. Thank you for supporting the channel and the videos I’m uploading 👍
A tough shift to say the least! And what was that bunch up to that took an HOUR for the cab cleaning? Taking it apart and rebuilding it?! That's the first and last time you'll be using them! Big thanks again for the video,Ollie, and for your time editing and sharing it with us. A vote from me for the map size and the background music, and your "street commentary" too. Michael
Thank you Michael. Honestly I have no idea! I wish I left the camera rolling 😅 brilliant, I like the smaller map too. Thanks for your comment, feedback and support. It’s really appreciated 👍
Thank you Martin some days it really can be. I’m currently editing a video I filmed on Good Friday (hopefully available next this Sunday). It’s the exact opposite of what happened in this shift 👌
Great video as per usual and a wonderfully detailed ending to the video, definitely seeing a massive improvement in your video quality 👍. It would be interesting to see the jobs that come from city airport maybe in a upcoming video?
Thank you Sameer. Your continued support is really appreciated. I did a recording at City Airport but it hasn’t come out as I’d have liked. I have a preferred time of the week I like go to LCY and will do that in a couple of weeks. I’ll record the shift either way and share it including the reasons why I tend to only go there at certain times 👍
About the toilets, I stopped outside the Chesterfield and just as I was about to walk in, the door ponce wanted a quid for me to use the toilet. Told him no and ended up going to the connaught.
I done private hire in Manchester, I give up 10 years ago for this reason. Had far too many slow days for my liking, got too stressful chasing money all the time. I do miss the job at times but the sitting about just done me in.
Thank you Rob. I really appreciate you taking the time out to leave a comment. It’s funny, people that have never done this type of work assume it’s the traffic that’s the issue. Reality is what you’ve said, sitting around empty, not making money.
Ouch! I have heard plenty of similar stories. I worked Good Friday, I did record it too and will look at uploading that (hopefully next Sunday) Saturday wasn’t too bad. Definitely needed after this shift 😅
Hi Henry. Thanks for your comments. The apps charge commission and it varies. Unify charge 0% I run this all the time. Others charge up to 20%. I do work on ComCab is I quite like the Taxicard work they do. Occasionally I’ll work Gett or FreeNow but I’ve used these a lot less frequently lately.
Thank you. I went to WizAnn and can’t recommend them enough. 2 years 4 months from Manor House to Hand Shake. I lost over 3 months of appearances due to C19. No doubt Dean knows his stuff and passing in under 2 years is definitely achievable
@@onrd1775 I worked full time. Finished work at midnight and went out on my scooter for 3-6 hours. After BB I’d wake up at 10am study with COP for 3-4 hours, then went to work and repeated. Days off work were spent calling 5+ hours a day 👍
Many garages/fleets vary in prices and some have much older Taxis that are cheaper to rent. I rent from HP Taxis, I believe their rent starts from £330 a week
@@ALondonCabbie that’s a big lump out of your money, how does it compare to buying your own ? Is there price inclusive of tyres/insurance servicing ect ?
Thank fk we don't have to drive those junk electric vehicles here in Aus. I noticed that you drive with the window up? Do people not shout out "taxi" to gain your attention. Love the shift videos
Thank you Jason. The vehicles are ok, I just think too much technology means too much can potentially go wrong. I open them a bit sometimes, I found when I record with them open there can be too much wind and road noise.
Haha thanks. Yeah it’s quite long and towards the end of a shift a bit tiring but I’d prefer to do 4 days like this (some times 3) and then have the rest of the week off. Trying to balance the work/home life balance
Between 5 of them Gary! I should have left the camera rolling. At the end they gave me a “loyalty” card with a a stamp in it. I didn’t know what to say
This is what people don't see - the expenses, every business has got them but name another working class trade/game that is as higher percentage as ours ?? Guess yours are close or over a monkey pw, take a bag gross and your on a £100.00 a day 😢
Thanks, I was a Carpenter a while back and expenses there are similar, especially with the risk of tool/van thefts. It’s 2 good days for expenses then the rest is paying your own bills and more.

Did wonder how you manage in central London without the use of a toilet, good heads up on that rule about the food/drinks for guests 👍

What group chat are you on? Love the videos.
Hi John, I’m in several group chats. The most informative for work info would be the Telegram (TaxiUp)
Love the vids mate keep up the good work

I have heard that from a few people. I used the Chesterfield every now and then, although they are now refusing Taxi drivers stating "refurbishments."
Really enjoying your content mate be lucky

I’m not a cabbie but like your channel . Do you lose a lot on the apps - whats the percentage difference to the meter. What apps do you use?

How long have you been driving the black cab mate
2 years, still a butter 😅
Hi have you ever come to Walsall west midlands england junction 10 m6 Walsall churckery well done you
Possibly
Too much traffic in London for my liking 😮
Where abouts in the city do you live mate ?
It is painful, although Bus Lanes and knowledge of quieter roads definitely helps. I live just outside of East London👍

I guess some days your in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Yeah that’s it 100%. Over a week it balances out but these days do happen
I got quite anxious when jobs weren't happening. That's a long old day sitting in a cab or is that standard.
