Story to share, you guys will appreciate. Found a hydrangea standard, limelight at our local orange box store for 89.00. No place for it just yet, but have always wanted one, so after thinking about it overnight, I went back to get it. Arrived and shade trees are a one day deal for 19.98. So I get two Purple Leaf Plum trees too. This entire escapade has Aaron's influence written all over it! Enjoy the day everyone.
Does anyone else think it time for Arron to get the drone out and do overhead shots of each garden area with before and after photos so we can really appreciate how far these gardens have come in such a short time.
Me too. I looked this up once. It has to do with the chemical makeup of the plants and something called the bluing effect. Still, I find the explanation unsatisfactory, especially when you are looking for a plant that produces purple flowers - confusing, right?
I would love to see Bethany's garden. ❤ I'll bet she has her own masterpiece! Those nonvenomos snakes are keeping the other pests and venomous snakes away. They're more scared of you than you are them. Even a hognose is rear fang venomous so they can't hurt us, even if they bite us. Snakes are beautiful creatures and such an incredibly important part of the ecosystem. Thank you for not speaking ill of them. 💜
Oh that’s a wonderful idea! I’d love to see what Bethany has done with all the plants she takes home with her. Laura and Aaron have such an amazing team behind them!
Not sure if many people would agree, but I would love to see the 'reality' get put away at the end of some of your videos. Just some quiet ASMR, tidying up the gator, jobs finished, done for day motivation. I often get really into designing & planting my space & then taint it visually by not putting the tools away or leaving a pile of weeds and dirt in a corner when I'm feeling tired. Seeing you tackle the mess left behind after a day of planting would be a great inspiration, I think.
A new pathway??? Laura, you’re teasing us with projects to come. Watching you develop this garden has not only been exciting to watch, but also a great learning experience. Thank you!
I so agree about seeing the wildlife come to a formally barren area. Our garden was a wildlife wasteland before due to previous owners overuse of weed killers. Now we have so many insects ,pollinators, butterflies, lizards, toads, snakes, mice, shrews, weasels, birds of all kinds it’s a joy❤️😎👩🌾🇫🇷
Glad to see the Rose of Sharon planted far far away from flower beds and grassy areas - they very prolifically self seed and are very hard to weed out even when tiny. Otherwise you have to prune off every seed!
You should really think about planting more of the host plants for the butterflies you love in your garden. For example, Rue is a beautiful blue green color with yellow flowers and the swallowtails love it. Look up which butterflies are native to your area and then look up their host plants. It's amazing how the butterflies will find the plants and start laying eggs only a few days after you plant them. The kids will love watching the caterpillars grow. Nature is fascinating!
Here in southwestern Ontario, Canada, we've had a very hot, humid summer with frequent heavy rainfall. I, too, have seen a huge increase in butterflies, snakes (harmless Garter snakes), birds of all kinds, frogs, etc. Such an abundance of life in my gardens and yard! They all help to keep other, non-friendly, insects in check. I have 4 grandchildren and I spend my time teaching them to appreciate nature, which is easy because small children are naturally curious. You have to love those special moments.
I never noticed before how the pathways of grass really unite the floral parts of the garden. I look at what you're pruning or planting and look past the lawn, but today when you drove in from the dirt lands it was the green grass that pulled me in. Maybe because it was centered while you drove, but I think it is that grounding element. Good job Aaron!
The orchard fence is going to be beautiful with all that color. The new roses in the south garden are so pretty and the dirt lands are coming along nicely. What a fun and happy video, it is perfect start to my day. Thank you. Have a blessed day everyone.
The south garden is starting to look so gorgeous! I thought you were crazy when you laid out your plans and am so pleased to be proven wrong. You continue to inspire all of us.
Laura!!!, my name is Laura I agree with you about being comfortable in what you wear and not compromising. If you are not comfortable it will show and you will not be your happy self! Just be you you are awesome!
Laura, it cracks me up! Each time you reach for the Biotone, the sack is the same fullness. I keep waiting for you to be dragging a 20 lb bag out, but you don’t! 😂. Love your videos!
We have a couple rose of sharons that were already here when we moved in 20 years ago. For years it was just those ones, but very recent years they started to pop up here and there. My neighbour now has rose of sharons 😂 but it's ok, because she loves them and doesn't have to spend money on buying them.
Hi Laura. Love your videos. So admire your talent and love of gardening. I love the rose Just Joey. It was so popular in my former home, the San Francisco Bat Area, so long ago. Everyone loved Just Joey! It is a wonderful rose. Also , living now in Mid West I have rediscovered the roses of Sharon from my childhood in Virginia. The lavender or blue cultivar is great.Love the Proven Winners varieties! Your garden is out of this world. I think your location is a gift. Congratulations on your success. You & Aron must be amazing parents given your wonderful kids. Your Mom is the bomb.
Hi Laura. We had three Lilac/lavender Chiffon Rose of Sharon in three of our ten garden beds on three and a half acres in the Kansas countryside which we had to leave recently when we downsized due to our age and health. They are a stunningly beautiful plant and bloom profusely for a very long time. However, they were not sterile as we thought and became very invasive, getting in our lawn, under the perennials, shrubs and trees, making it almost impossible to get them out once they were rooted in. You could not even see many of the seedlings until they were quite established. I tried to get them out from under three barberry shrubs and you can imagine the pain (excuse the pun) that was. Please look into this before leaving them in. I'm concerned that they would be way worse then the staghorn sumac - which we also had on our property. Thank you for your show. I've watched for years and learned so much from you. ❤
i just love how these spaces are evolving... your knowledge and eye for picking just the right plant is always spot on... the dirtlands is going to have to change its name to "wonderland" in a couple of years - it's going to be spectacular... i think our reward for all the weeding and watering and deadheading and etc is to sit a spell in between chores and bask in the glory of nature... the birds, the bees, the lizards, the butterflies (we call them flutterbys, lol)... i talk to all of them, too.. the lizards are all called 'buddy' (hey buddy!), the orb weavers out this time of year in their webs are all henrietta, lol..we rarely get snakes around here but they should be respected, not feared... wonderful creatures... it's just the best entertainment right out the back door, lol... looks like a great day, cannot wait to see the area behind the barn soon... such a busy place!! 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
I had to smile. Our hummingbirds sit in our River Birch and they do look like one of the leaves. Then they flit over to the hummingbird feeder or further down and hit the Anise Hyssop. My husband could watch them all day. Enjoyed the video. Can't wait to see what your dirt lands turn out to look like in the coming years.
That jump from 13:06 to 13:07 literally looks like you went from one world to another! I can’t believe how beautiful the south garden is filling in and can’t wait to see the dirt lands transformation!
Good Morning! 🌺 I have several Rose of Sharon bushes that my Dad gave me years ago! He is gone now, but whenever I look at them, I remember Dad! I have to pull volunteer bushes because they pop up in locations where I don't want them growing! I love the way the dirt lands is shaping up! The roses are so pretty. I wish I could smell them! 🥰🌹🌿🌺 🌹
Been an avid fan since the first fairy garden planter at the town house, I will still drop all responsibility when I get a new video notification! Maybe a little bonus video one day of your clean up process once you're done planting and filming? I think everyone here would agree that we would watch you wax a school bus if you would film it an post it!
Your property is just evolving into such a beautiful space. We feed hummingbirds and enjoy them so much. Feel like migration is starting this week….so what do birds know about the weather changes that we humans don’t know?! Usually they are around through mid September here in our state. Your property has grown so much in the short time since you began the south garden. As I said previously, your slice of heaven on earth!! ❤❤❤
We have also had more hummingbirds than we have had in past years. They love the salvia outside my living room picture windows and even sometimes go to the grape jelly I have out for the orioles.
Miss Laura you need a bench swing! Covered of course! Just to sit and swing and enjoy the garden! Maybe one or three by the pond too! Since i got one i can hardly go inside. There is something about swinging in the garden...magical. i wish mine was just a bit longer because i love to lay down on it and would be able to stretch out more. It has beautiful cusions and pillows and its heaven. My garden is beautiful thanks to inspiration from you and a few others.
Enjoyed it so much I’m watching a second time as I finish my tea! Love the roses and setting. Will enjoy watching clematis and rose on the fence next year. Definitely go with more on that fence. Rose of Sharon will be beautiful in the dirt lands with space to grow! Thanks for a great morning! ❤
The bumbles, butterflies, hummingbirds and other birds make the garden all the more special. I’ve also seen a few more snakes than I have in the past. Always makes my skin crawl. lol
Just want to say I so appreciate the cleanliness, the organization and “beautiful rows and garden beds that you have. It makes my heart feel so good because I have to be frank, there are so many other TH-camrs that garden out there and their gardens are a mess, with stuff all over them and nothing in rows and it’s all haphazard. It drives me insane. So I’m glad someone else is like me and likes to see, a neat orderly and beautiful garden!
The Rose of Sharons are going to be so very beautiful. The rose bush you dug up and clematis is so beautifully placed. Cant wait to see everything next yer. Great video. Love y'alls channel❤
Oh my gosh! The view behind you where you planted the roses is amazing! I think you put some benches out there? It's so incredibly beautiful and a great place to enjoy the birds, bees and butterflies.
Love the new Rose of Sharon! Years ago my Mom rooted a cutting of one that my Grandmother had in her garden and planted it at the house where I grew up. Then about 20 years ago she rooted a cutting from hers and I planted in my garden, a legacy plant. It is so special and it love it.
Good evening from Australia! I love ending my day with a video from Laura 💚 Question: I've often wondered, how many snakes or other unpleasant pests you encounter or deal with in your garden?!? I have a 5 acre garden in a rural location in Victoria, Aus... there's no way I'd garden in the lovely shoes you wear 😂
It is so amazing to see the transformation. I remember the dirt devils when you first started. Can't wait to see the transformation on your next plot of land.
I Love purple flowers. I like a few together or purple with yellow flowers. Sterling Silver purple roses have a beautiful sweet scent. It looks good in a vintage vase with dried beige baby’s breathe. Or along with soft yellow roses and white baby’s breath. You’ve introduced me to so many other purple flowers.
Hate to tell you this but you will quickly hate Rose of Sharon. They sucker and spread through their roots, so in my yard, I have them coming up between my sidewalk, in every crevices. The roots and incredibly difficult to pull. Also, the blooms last a couple days and then drop. Not a big deal when it's a small plant but when your ground is covered in hundreds of rotting buds.... you can sweep them up but these plants bloom like crazy right through to when the snow falls. Just put it somewhere where that won't drive you crazy.
I’m fairly new to Garden Answer. So fun to watch. Can someone tell me what Laura’s goal is with this channel? Is she basically building a huge garden for their homestead? Will this be something they eventually open up to others for viewing or is it just for their enjoyment at home? Whatever it is, I love it and enjoy watching her create.
Always a lovely retreat to spend time in your garden. I leave refreshed, relaxed and inspired. You have a way about you that leaves me feeling as though I am there enjoying the day with you.
I have a PW rose of sharon that has pink ruffled flowers. It has grown each year, and was about 5 feet. This year it died all the way back to the ground, and I was crushed. Happy to say it flushed out new growth. It is just all about 2 feet, so will have to grow tall again.
I so enjoy watching the butterflies and bees and hummingbird moths that I stop and watch just like you. I purchased an agastache the other day and the amount and variety of bees that are on it amazed me. So fun!🐝🦋
I have a deep long yearning for a Rose of Sharon! My garden has a lot of shade and the part that gets some sun, does not have the space to let a Rose of Sharon become a masterpiece. The ones you planted sure are beautiful! ❤
I have that same David Austin rose and it’s my favorite! It’s stunning! Mines in a huge container but I may put in the ground next season. Have found when I give rose food midway it reblooms in like a week. Those will be your favorite ever rose the colors are stunning!
As a first time gardener I planted two Jackmanii clematis on both sides of an entrance arch , they covered totally both 3 ft wide side panels and over the top of the arch. They bloomed profusely every year and I cut them back to the ground every year. I have never seen in a garden or a picture a clematis that grew that thickly . It wasn't any talent or practice on my part because I don't think I even fertilized. While the ones I've seen are pretty blooms they are also a disappointment after my early experience.
I’m so happy to see Just Joey! It is the most beautiful and fragrant rose I have ever seen. My garden looks and smells always amazing because of Just Joey! I also love blue chiffon rose of Sharon. Thanks for sharing your videos. 😊
If you could source some Australian Wattle trees for the dirt lands I think you would be happy with them, the beautiful yellow flowers bloom at the end of winter to announce the coming of Spring. They are truely stunning 🌼
The Chiffon series from Proven Winners is not as sterile as you think. I have several of the blue chiffon and they can put out the babies. But it’s a beautiful shrub. I just pull out the stowaways as they pop up.
When you see snakes and frogs and hummingbirds and bees, it means your ecosystem is doing really well. I’ve had quite a few dragonflies and I heard that’s another really good sign.
I just rooted some Rose of Sharon cuttings for my fence lines. I have 2 full grown ones on each side of my front door and they’ve grown taller than the roofline lol. So pretty!!
Rose of Sharon’s are beautiful!! I had to take my large one out because it seeded hundreds of babies in my garden every year! It made me sad to see it go but I’m still digging up babies. ☹️

We gather and love plants like lost puppies can't leave one unloved!
@@rtshaw3621perfectly put! lol 😂
Happy planting💚😊
That is awesome! I need to be looking out for those types of sales! Good finds! 😊♥️
$89.00😮
Does anyone else think it time for Arron to get the drone out and do overhead shots of each garden area with before and after photos so we can really appreciate how far these gardens have come in such a short time.
I agree 100% with Aaron! It drives me crazy when they call flowers which are clearly purple, blue.
Me too. I looked this up once. It has to do with the chemical makeup of the plants and something called the bluing effect. Still, I find the explanation unsatisfactory, especially when you are looking for a plant that produces purple flowers - confusing, right?

Snakes are beautiful creatures and such an incredibly important part of the ecosystem. Thank you for not speaking ill of them. 💜
They have said Bethany would probably rather show her horses than the garden
I would like to see the pigs again too 😊😊😊😊❤
Me too
Oh that’s a wonderful idea! I’d love to see what Bethany has done with all the plants she takes home with her. Laura and Aaron have such an amazing team behind them!
Any new person is going to think "why is she planting in the middle of a field?" But we all know it's going to be gorgeous 🥰

I never cease to amaze me how fast you transformed that barren empty field... Into a lush and full garden ..so beautiful !!!
I was just thinking that

I love random sightings of hummingbirds sitting somewhere. It's not been common in my life, so I like every instance!
I love the Rose of Sharon..any color. Always like the combo of purple and apricot!
You will love those Just Joey roses. They are such great performers and so beautiful!

I have a beauty of a blue rose of Sharon about 12 years old now and sooo full of blooms!! It is so faithful here in Tulsa through the 100 summers!!

The blue Rose Sharon and purple Clematis are so pretty.

The Rose of Sharons are going to be so very beautiful. The rose bush you dug up and clematis is so beautifully placed. Cant wait to see everything next yer. Great video. Love y'alls channel❤
Rose of Sharon’s spread like crazy in my zone 8b
These are a sterile variety.
Those roses and rose of Sharon are going to look stunning together with the cotton tail white yarrow 💚💚💚💚💚
Oh my gosh! The view behind you where you planted the roses is amazing! I think you put some benches out there? It's so incredibly beautiful and a great place to enjoy the birds, bees and butterflies.
Stop and smell the roses...how appropriate! I so enjoy seeing what you plant and where. I need some of those blue Rose of Sharon in my life.
I love ending my day with a video from Laura 💚
Question: I've often wondered, how many snakes or other unpleasant pests you encounter or deal with in your garden?!? I have a 5 acre garden in a rural location in Victoria, Aus... there's no way I'd garden in the lovely shoes you wear 😂
Just a great video today. Just love the hibiscus just so beautiful. And the roses.
“Just Joey” is my favorite of ALL roses of all varieties!
I have a Just Joey tree rose... LOVE IT!! It smells great and reblooms throughout the year.
White blooms! So fun to get a peek at the garden blooms every video ❤❤❤
Its so nice to see you are still planting.
I’m fairly new to Garden Answer. So fun to watch. Can someone tell me what Laura’s goal is with this channel? Is she basically building a huge garden for their homestead? Always a lovely retreat to spend time in your garden. I leave refreshed, relaxed and inspired. You have a way about you that leaves me feeling as though I am there enjoying the day with you.
It’s a joy to watch your channel beautiful plant choice’s today
Heavenly blue morning glory is a real nice sky blue
I have a PW rose of sharon that has pink ruffled flowers. It has grown each year, and was about 5 feet. This year it died all the way back to the ground, and I was crushed. Happy to say it flushed out new growth. It is just all about 2 feet, so will have to grow tall again.
I so enjoy watching the butterflies and bees and hummingbird moths that I stop and watch just like you. I purchased an agastache the other day and the amount and variety of bees that are on it amazed me. So fun!🐝🦋
Afternoon Everyone 🥰
Hi. Have a great day ❤
I have a deep long yearning for a Rose of Sharon! My garden has a lot of shade and the part that gets some sun, does not have the space to let a Rose of Sharon become a masterpiece. The ones you planted sure are beautiful! ❤
I have known Rose of Sharon trees to bloom very well in shady gardens, zone 5b-6a. I hope this helps🌺
Rose of Sharon would not like my cold Zone 4... but they sure are beautiful!♡
I did try here in zone 4 and survived for a couple of seasons. May try again but mulch heavy
Just Joey is my FAVORITE ROSE!
Beautiful and amazing plants laura 🌺they are going to be gorgeous in your garden . Have a wonderful weekend.🌺🌻🌺
I have that same David Austin rose and it’s my favorite! It’s stunning! Mines in a huge container but I may put in the ground next season. Have found when I give rose food midway it reblooms in like a week. Those will be your favorite ever rose the colors are stunning!
I love my cottontail yarrow! Drying some for Christmas to place at the base of amaryllis!
I would love to have dirt like yours. Every shovelfull I make I get a rock or several. Love the clematis!!
I was thinking the exact same! I’m a little jealous! 😉
Love that the David Austin Bathsheba rose was saved. Going to be gorgeous with the clematis ! Looking to get me a El Niño chitalpa 😃
If you could source some Australian Wattle trees for the dirt lands I think you would be happy with them, the beautiful yellow flowers bloom at the end of winter to announce the coming of Spring. They are truely stunning 🌼
We are heading down your way in about 1 week. So excited to visit your parents' Garden Centre!
I love the true blue flowers. So hard to find. Love the blue chiffon rose of Sharon.
I love when you show the Chitalpa. I ordered one this summer and it's getting its first bloom. Love watching yours to see what mine will look like
Thanks Laura you are an inspiration!
That gator is the look of a busy hard working gardener! No shame in your game you'd lady! 🥂 😊🥀🦋🌻
The Chiffon series from Proven Winners is not as sterile as you think. I have several of the blue chiffon and they can put out the babies. But it’s a beautiful shrub. I just pull out the stowaways as they pop up.
0:48 miss Laura, I said the exact same thing when you picked that flower from the nursery. It’s one of the more true blue flowers that I’ve seen.
Always a treat with my coffee in the morning......thank you
The apricot roses are a favorite of mine.
When you see snakes and frogs and hummingbirds and bees, it means your ecosystem is doing really well. I’ve had quite a few dragonflies and I heard that’s another really good sign.
It sure has evolved and I’m excited to see the other new property evolve looking good.
I'd love to see the growth through the months of the rose of Sharon's
😃Thanks Laura! 🌹🪴👩🏻🌾
Beautiful elegant looking garden
Gorgeous plants. My third year pink chiffon althea is blooming like crazy!
You plant some amazing plants! It would be fun to know how many plants you have planted over the years, thousands I am sure!
I love the Members First bonus sneak peek. Thanks for doing that :)
Good morning!🌻🐝
That rose really looks good, it was iffy when you transplanted it.😂 The dirt lands are looking really good.😊
Seeing you plant the clematis along the fence reminded me of the pear esplanade that you moved. Did it ever get replanted?
