    • @MVRKOFFCL

The Taichi and Nova only support up to 8200Mhz OC DDR5 ram while the Hero supports up to 8600Mhz OC (some saying it may even be stable at 9000). The Hero also has patented Nitropath DRAM technology the Nova and Taichi do not, promising enhanced performance.
      From ASUS site:
NitroPath DRAM Technology provides enhanced DDR5 memory performance. Shorter gold finger pins and optimized signal pathways ensure faster data transfers between your DRAM and CPU, allowing for greater memory overclocking headroom and stability. These reinformed DRAM slots are also better prepared to withstand the wear and tear of the RAM installation process than traditional slot designs, perfect for enthusiasts who keep their system upgraded with the fastest kits available.
The Nova and Taichi are great MOBOs especially for the price, but for OC enthusiasts that are looking to absolutely max out their rigs on paper it doesn't look like they can beat the Hero, unless someone wants to benchmark them side by side by side...Frame Chasers may be up to the task haha

finally, someone decides to compare these two boards. BTW SPDIF optical out only supports 2 channels of uncompressed audio. The only other option is lossy Dolby Digital AC3-encoded 5.1 audio through that output, which incurs a latency hit and is an ancient audio format at this point. if you're outputting audio to a surround receiver of some sort you're better off using the GPU's HDMI output since it will actually support modern audio codecs like Dolby TrueHD/Atmos, as well as uncompressed multichannel audio up to 7.1. That said, I'm sad to see motherboards no longer having analog 7.1 discrete audio outputs.

This is a weird generation where I'm actually more excited for what you can do with the x870 mobos than the processors driving them. Finally a bridge between consumer mobos and something like Threadripper where you can actually flex all the NVME slots without bifurcation or downgrading the GPU, and the ability to have a second GPU for doing simulations or rendering. I just wish we had mobos like I had back in 2014 with quad channel 8 DIMM slots and a 5820k that was just as good as a workstation rig as it was for gaming (relevant to the era). I'm still looking at either upgrading everything to AM5 or sitting on a TR 3970x for a good long time. Buying TRs pre-owned is about my only option, but I absolutely dislike the idea of inheriting the sins of the PO via ebay or the like.

What memory were you using to get those stable 7800 & 8000 numbers on your X870E? I just picked up the X870E and AMD 9950X looking to use them for gaming and workstation so I'm looking to min/max my total RAM and performance, I just ordered Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR5 6000 CL30 AMD EXPO but I've been reading some ppl saying on reddit that G.Skill is more reliable for AMD EXPO overclocking and that 6400 CL32 is the sweet spot for AM5 mobo's so I'm contemplating ordering G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 48GB (2x24GB) 6400MT/s CL32, G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 CL30, or Kingston FURY Beast 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6400MHz CL32.
I really wanted to have 96GB of RAM for content creation and live streaming/gaming simultaneously (running Ableton live 12, Elgato capture, Streamlabs, TH-cam, Google Chrome etc simultaneously) but I think I'm going to have to settle for 48GB or 64GB total.

Ok, so it wasn’t just me… the whole time, I was trying to figure out what RAM he was actually using. I noticed on the x870e hero site’s QVL… the only listed >6000MT/s was the Kingston Fury Beast and Fury Renegade. So that’s what I got. I just snagged the Kingston FURY Beast 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6400 (PC5 51200) Memory (Desktop Memory) Model KF564C32BBEK2-64.
Before realizing there was a DDR5-6400 CL32 Expo on the official QVL, I was really close to pulling the trigger on the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo or Flare X5, both DDR5-6000 CL30 Expo.
I would also like to get 96GB total if possible, but through all the research and tradeoffs and level of effort necessary and uncertainties… I think you and I landed at similar conclusions, settling for pursuing the best in class available for 2x32GB.

Ok... So im debating on getting the new 9950x or wait for the 9800x3d... I have already bought the new x870e hero motherboard from Asus for overclocking reasons.... My question is this, with the new motherboard and the 9 series I can achieve 8200MTS with my DDR5 RAM. With this much of an improvement will the extra cache actually make a difference since the MTS can make up so much? Gaming reasons

So stripping features (surround VCA) and increasing prices, this is a trend for Asus. And you might not want to add thermal pads to the back of the DIMM slots, a heat-sink is only effective with airflow, that entire back-plate could heat up with time and rather than pull heat away from the DIMM slots now the DIMM slots become the heat-sink for the back-plate. That back-plate is suffocated with zero airflow.
