Stillness - 3 minutes - practicing presence

  • Today I want to invite you to be still
    .
    .
    Thomas Merton says “So perhaps
I have an obligation to preserve the
stillness, the silence, the poverty, the
    virginal point of pure nothingness
which is at the Center of all other loves.”
    .
    .
It’s a pretty strong statement but you
just might find that the more you
    practice silence and stillness the
more you will be drawn to it.
    .
    .
I don’t know about you but in spite
of my best efforts my mind and my
body are anything but still most of
the time. My mind especially is
    almost always racing.
    .
    .
At the same time, as Merton says
    stillness, silence, poverty, and the
    virginal point of nothingness already
exist in some mysterious way. On some
level we know it and stillness helps to
get all of the unknowing out of the
way, so that we can truly know as
the Psalmist says in Psalm 46.10.
    .
    .
If you’re ready to practice stillness
using this Psalm, I invite you to do
it now. If this moves too fast for you,
take some time later on and slow it
    down.
    .
    .
Let’s do a very quick body scan. Scan
your body and remind the various parts
of your body, from your head to your
    toes to be still.
    .
    .
Remind your mind to be still.
    .
    .
And now let’s use Psalm 46.10 to
    practice stillness and being...
    .
    .
Be still and know that I am God
    .
    .
Be still and know that I am
    .
    .
    Be still and know
    .
    .
    Be still
    .
    .
    Be
    .
    .
Throughout the day if your mind
takes over, or you are feeling stressed,
remind your body and your mind to
be still and then just be.
    .
    .
    Peace ~ Rod

Namaste 🙏 Sir can you explain this : when I am talking with my father and i only concentrate on his words 1) accepting everything. 2) my body was still. 3) I feel my awareness resting on his words. 4) I am not aware of any thought. -after 1hr20min i can feel intense energy ⚡ in my mind.
    Q1. ] What is concentration?
Q2. ] Is it necessary to be still to feel presence?
Q3. ] How can i integrate this listening quality with every task which I do?

How would you explain the true essence of the word stillness to not a native speaker...I mean I speak pretty good English but what is the difference between being still and being silent how to emotionally connect with the word...✌️ 😁

I listen to, and I watch this video,
and as I do, so much pain arises in me.
    Sheer torment.
    Leaves me breathless.
    Suffocated. Dying.
    Helplessly hopeless and paralyzed,
    and grief-stricken.
    A flood of suffering and
    anguish:
saturate every cell of my being.
I am depressed, I am lonely,
I am filled with rage and guilt and regret.
And on the inside, I am dying.
My soul is suffocated and paralyzed and raped.
I wish for death, and nothing else.
I can no longer bear the pain
of the hell that this world is.
    I want to die.
    Death is my only wish.

That you watched this video shows that you still have hope although it may be obscured considering the anguish you describe. I lived my life devoid of faith & hope & praying to die was the only prayer that I knew. I'll spare you from my personal history but just wanted to reach out. Everything you spoke of resonate with me and from personal experience and I said don't believe I can actually say this with because it's so new but I promise that you have the ability to transform your despair. It's extremely difficult and takes time but it can be done. Again I don't believe this is me saying this but you are not alone 💗

It's okay but much of a muchness the speech in the video becomes a distraction from stillness.
